Great show tonight! STJL was a real treat to hear. BEF>Bartender was incredible. Bartender was epic and Dave was feeding off the crowd which cheered everytime he yelled. That song kept building and building. The rain was great to cool everyone off and Nancies was teased TWICE, which almost killed me. Grey St was a good closer and the last time I would see the full song version of it! All in all, a really good show!

First of all, we did get bumped up by the Warehouse. We were sitting in our original seats (3rd to last row of the back, right corner of the lower level), and it was fairly early. The lady came up to us, asked us if we were from the Warehouse, asked us for our tickets, and then said, "So do you guys wanna sit in the front row?" People were asking us all night what she looked like and everything, but it didn't really matter because her seating chart told her exactly who was to be moved to what seat. Front row is particularly nice at SPAC since it's so close to the stage (we could basically touch the stage). All in all, we were ridiculously close...
Some girl in the front row was passing out signs that read, "Every time Dave teases Nancies, God kills a kitten...please, Dave, think of the kittens." She asked us to hold them up with they came out. There were also a couple of large Nancies signs around us. Right when the boys came out, Dave came over to read the signs, then just chuckled...
STJL was very nice, especially the, "I have a younger sister Jane, and this is the Song that Jane Likes," intro. He did tease Nancies before WTWE, just the first few chords. After every chord he looked over at our section, to the guys with the signs. Then he turned around and looked at Carter. Carter kinda shrugged as he laughed, and I thought it may be coming, but then they played WTWE. Still, Nancies is definitely coming soon...
Crush, my favorite song as it is. Nice jams by Boyd and Carter. When Carter closed it out, Dave gave a huge fist pump and went over to give him a high five. Awesome moment.
You Never Know didn't have Carter's intro...it was cool to have the very unexpected beginning.

I was living in Montreal at the time - very much worth the scary bus drivers, stained bus seats, border-crossing nightmares, and crossing some forest with no direction trying to get back to the bus stop after the show... rock on Cry Freedom, right? Anyway, a great show! The rain made it even better!

I originally posted this on nancies.org on July 31, 2002. No edits have been made... this is what I said then and I stand by it. (If you are actually reading this.)
I just got back to Colorado from a week in New York. This was my 12th DMB show and by far the worst I've ever been a part of. We attended Ozzie Smith's induction into Cooperstown earlier in the day, and made the trek to Saratoga for what was to be the highlight of my trip into upstate N.Y. Everything I'd ever heard about SPAC was positive, but I found the experience to be terrible. Long walks, poor security checks, gate crashers, and awful lawn seating. I can only compare our top of the venue seats to watching a show from outside of a stadium. No view the stage. One video monitor. And horrible sound. All coming with the cost of admission. The biggest joke were fans flocking to the One Sweet Whirled booth inside the venue. After thoroughly trashing one of New York's prettiest parks, fans of all ages and sizes flocked to get ice cream that supports the environmental campaign. As a DMB fan from the Red Rocks days, I'll go on record and say this: I hope they NEVER play the venue again. DMB fans, for the most part, don't deserve scenic venues. Immaturity and and plain rudeness should guarantee arena shows for the rest of DMB's exsistence. Throw in this setlist of songs, high humidity, and rain, and it's a wonder I made i through six songs.

This was the first Dave show that I had ever been to. I had been a DMB fan for a while, but man what an experience they are live. S.P.A.C. is a great venue to see DMB, and DMB always seem to put on one hell of a show here. Not to mention the setlist was great overall! Every summer there are two Dave shows that I must see and they are the ones at S.P.A.C. I just hope to someday see a S.P.A.C. live tracks.

great show. jammed the *&^(^UH out of just about everything. dave had a real nice acoustic solo on jimi thing that sounded more like it was a timmy solo but im not complaining. Boyd and Leroi both were in their element. it was a really great experience for my first show.

Good show all around. WWYS opener was a nice surprise, followed by Jane's Song, which is always a pleasure. They played a good amount of stuff from the new album including Kit Kat (with lyrics unlike those on Lillywhite, instead describing a plastic superhero), Captain, Big Eyed Fish, Bartender, WAYG and Grey Street as a closer. Grey Street has tons of energy, and it works really well as a closer. The encore was really great, with Cry Freedom played acoustic to start it off. The What You Are closer worked well, ending the night with lots of energy.

This was one hell of a show. My second dave concert ever, I'd looked forward to this since the previous one i'd been to, a whole 8 days before at darien lake. This concert was ended by one killer ass what you are, and included too much, crush, so much to say among some other greats. Keep up the good work, DMB...
