this was the worst dave show i've ever seen... i have been to so many, and have never been disappointed. this was a first for me. the setlist was weak at best, and he played all the radio hits that aren't actually great songs (too much, don't drink the water, so much to say as his last song?!). the energy of the band wasn't that great either... not enough jamming on real music (that repetitive line from you might die trying doesn't count), and the crowd was barely dancing. highlights were dancing nancies and warehouse. although even there, he should have done warehouse as a follow up to nancies, to keep the momentum going. i would have liked to have seen lie in our graves, lover lay down, or best of what's around from the old albums, and a little more of the lillywhite songs, maybe a little spoon from before these crowded streets... i don't know - something, though, to save that setlist.

First Dave show, absolutely amazing

Some of the new songs that I didn't like on the album were really great live (Die Trying, Hunger for the Great Light!) Rashawn rocked the trumpet hard on Bayou. Great crowd energy, and band looked refreshed after a few days off. Little disappointed in the encore, but Warehouse helped me get through! Cops were royal a-holes in the pre show, but I guess thats what happens when people set cars on fire year after year!

Solid show, lot of new tunes that were good to hear; smooth rider, dreamgirl, louisiana bayou all good. Nice to hear Nancies, first time i've seen it played with the band; crash, warehouse were nice to hear. Where are you going is getting old, good song but played to much in my opinion. Encore was weak to me, WWYS is a nice one to hear, one more song could have made the encore. Carter on the drum solo's was unbelievable!!!!! Can't wait for tomorrow night....also disregard the announcements from hartford police, bring beers, cook and have a good time!

9 songs from stand up and the others could have been from "DMB's greatest hits". Definitely a concert for the casual fan. But, they played the songs well; just didn't choose the right ones.

NO TAILGATING! Bought special parking pass from warehouse and was greatly disappointed to be ushered inside by police officers as soon as we parked. Good thing the show made up for all of that!

So, this show contained mainly Stand Up, which I expected but didn't prepare myself for. I wanted a traditional DMB summer show, a taste of what I needed annually and was about to leave very dissapointed having just heard a concert containing 60% Stand UP, BUMMER! As we were leaving, however, CTnow staff re-directed us (as if we weren't having a hard enough time trying to get out of their one exit with all the mooing people - but the staff had directed us right into the path of the tour busses! I got to touch the busses and wave to the band and even got on Boyd's video camera, a little bit of excitement to bring my spirits up!

The Dave Matthews Band came of age last night playing their 21st gig at the ctnow.com Meadows Music Theatre at Hartford, Connecticut. The band masterfully introduced new songs from their latest album “Stand Up” while entertaining fans with classics from their repertoire of material. The band opened with “Hunger for the Great Light”, the first time played as an opener this tour. He followed up with “Dreamgirl” both songs demonstrated the passion of the band’s songs both on stage and in the studio. The songs sounded just as good live as they did on the album. The band then dug into their other material, pulling out crowd pleasers such as “Dancing Nancies” , “Where Are You Going?”, “Hello Again”, and “One Sweet World”. They were all great choices that really wowed the crowd and got them up and dancing. I was left expecting “Warehouse” after “Dancing Nancies”- a classic combo that I enjoy hearing, I was satisfied when “Warehouse” did come up later in the set, the song truly has evolved into a song enjoyed by the fans as they joined with the stop time intro. “Too Much” served as a good choice to close the set, an energetic frenzy of instruments that left the air electrified as they walked off the stage. The band started with a mellower pace with the encore with “Smooth Rider”, but ended with a bang following up with “What Would You Say”. Dave Matthews and the band continue to hone their craft on stage with their new album material at the Meadows. We can only expect bigger and better things as they continue their stay in CT tomorrow night.

Really good show, my 1st of the tour. A little heavy on the new CD, but that was OK too. The crowd around the front of the venue were a lot of "Venue VIPs" (people who pay good money to get good seats before the normal on sale and thus come to most all shows for the season. So, the crowd was quiet, mellow and a bit older (and I am 35, so you know I mean older). It made for a nice experience if you like to sit down a lot and go out for another 12.00 glass of whine (no, wine) at every slow song. The band seemed very much in sync (though Boyd almost missed the bow for the violin (sitting on the PA) at the end of WWYS) and having loads of fun. Tomorrow, another show, and another fun night to come :-) PS - To the City of Hartford, don't expect to see any more of my hard earned money. Your Police force was very nice, polite and well trained, but successfully killed the fun pre show events that most fans expect to be able to experience in a mature and respectful way. All due to local kids who were not even attending the concert last summer... is just plan wrong.

Been to many shows over the last 5 years, but this is my first review. This was a strong show. You may see some that will complain that the setlist was weak, but if you like Stand Up, it was a great show. The new material sounded great. They seemed to jam almost every song at least a little bit. I must admit that I have had enough of Where are you going at this point and I can do without Crash too. Anyway...the new music was inventive and fun. Strong show.

This was my first show and of the six that I have now seen, this was certainly the weakest of the total. Very quiet, relatively little energy from the band/crowd, no jams and nothing memorable musically. A let down as my debut to a Dave live show.

This was my first DMB concert. Parents had some strict rules back in the day but with of college done they're being pretty chill about things. They let me drive 6 hours to see this show with some CT friends. While I was not pleased with the setlist I was blown away. First time thing i guess.

Most reviews I've read so far haven't been great, but I thought the show was awesome. They played all the songs from the new album that I liked and many good oldies. I only wish they'd play #41, but they never do. I thought Dave's energy was magnetic and he's amazing. Loved The Show!!!!!!!

45th show, best seats ever (7th row, dead center). From near the front, the band was having a blast playing new and old songs alike. I've never seen better chemistry onstage, except perhaps in the early shows of the 90's. They seem to have gone through the process of making a new album and come out the other side much stronger and all pushing in the same direction (as opposed to Lillywhite sessions or Everyday.) For this devoted fan it was a great sight to see. Yes, the setlist could have been better, the crowd could have been into it more, and the encore wasn't what we have come to expect. But for me the band is as good as it's ever been, which gives me hope for greater things to come.

People will complain about the setlist but I had an awesome time. The guys had a ton of energy tonight and the trumpet player that came out and jammed on Lousiana Bayou was amazing. Nancies, Intro to DDTW, Too Much, and Hello Again were all major highlights.

Great show- venue security sucks!! $30 bucks to party for 3 hours in a BMW dealership blows, but good times at the show

Review:
this show was pretty mediocre, warehouse was good as well as the popular tunes. I thought there was too many new songs played and I understand the tour is serving as a promoter but I was looking forward to some older songs. Dave was pretty energic but he didn't talk to the crowd very much. This only serves as a preview to tonight's (sunday) show

My first show of the summer and my first with stand up. I was little overwhelmed with the presence of mostly new songs, many of which i wasnt very familiar with yet. Good to hear the new stuff, but a very average show...

User: Mauveboy
Review:
Dave was hung over. He introduced Howie Day and said he was hung over but he could manage. The set list was O.K. and the energy was weird but good. A little more mellow than usually, but have been to a lot of shows so I've seen all different kinds. Hartford police banned outright tailgating and drinking in the parking lots so I think that had something to do with the crowd. 6 out of 10.

Not Too Bad a Show, The Band Was Really Into It Tonite...Too Much New Stuff. What Was It, 9 New Songs? Crowd Kinda Sucked Where I Was..The Middle of the Show Was Solid Though. Boyd's Solos Were Great and Carter Was Amazing...Very Disappointed in the Encore..The New Song in It Was Bad and He Closed With WWYS Last Year at the Meadows

User: mikestric

Real good show. Hunger for the great light was such a sick opener, it may have been my favorite song. Everything was great except the encore. And i think the show was a little shorter than last year? In any case I loved it and will be back for more tonite.

Show was ok but the parking lot scene was the worst experiance ever, i left the lot to get drinks and returned (i had no ticket or cell phone, both in the car) and was not let back in cuz the cops told me it was "closed" meanwhile it was packed w/people partying... but the show had its ups and downs.. Bayou was un-real with Mr. Ross and Carter absolutley ROCKED the venue.. very good time in the show

Highlights were DDTW and Hello Again - considering that the first thing Dave said was "I'm hungover", he sure did a lot of yelling and scatting as the night went on! Bit too much new stuff for me, but Louisiana Bayou and Hunger are both developing nicely in a live setting.

The cops sucked, but i guess that's what you have to expect given all of the problems in the past. Ok set list. My high lights were Warehouse & DDTW. I enjoyed the new stuff live, but felt that they played too much of it. Overall it was a good show, even with the weak set list, and so so encore. I wish i could have been there for the second night, but my expectations will be higher for Camden...
