Randall's Island shows were the best we've seen this year!!!

OK...where to get started...Getting to this "Island Get Away" was not easy but not to bad. #41 was awsome to finally hear after 18 shows with out it.Billes mid-set was really cool! Jimi THing with Trey was amazing, and Bayou with RR was nuts!. Now for the bad parts. The encore was kind of a let down becasue I had already seen that same encore at Spac night 2. GA was hard to see no matter where you were. The bus system was a joke. it took us 3 hours after the show to get off the Island on a bus. By that time We had missed the last train back to Jersey, so we had to take the Path to Hoboken only to miss the last train there too. We didn't get home untill 5am because of this.

They came out HOT with #41.. had a great cover in there which are always fun to hear. The new songs are sounding TIGHT and have really developed. HFTGL is a classic in the making. And of course classics like Crash Into Me, Jimi Thing (with Trey!), Tripping Billies, Nancies, and Warehouse are always off the charts! Louisiana Bayou was outrageous with Randolph.. maybe he could play a couple shows and give Butch a couple nights off! Old Dirt Hill is just not ready to be an encore song (if it ever will be) but I won't ever complain about What You Are.. always intense to see them rock out on it.. especially when Dave goes off at the end! Good show.. hoping night 2 will be even better.

what a show... I was really lucky to get a great seat on the hill to the left of the gates but flush against them so I had a perfect view of the band. Other than the black snot thing i have no complaints at all, seeing trey go crazy during jimi thing was more than worth a couple of dirty tissues and a mets towel.

Far and away the best Dave show I've ever seen. I've only been to 7, but this has to be high on everybody's list. Trey's and RR's additions to their respective songs blew me away and the short intro to Steady As We Go was the best thing I've heard at a Dave concert. Hope they make this one or a combo of the Randall's Island shows into a live album.

the first DMB i've made it to. tried to go to Central Park, but couldn't. dave rocked like no other. the energy of a show like that is incomparable to anything else. i've seen the who, ive seen the stones, ive seen clapton, but this show had to be the most high energy show that i've ever seen.

This was my first Dave Matthews concert! I was there mainly to see BnL, who are an obsession of mine. As for Dave, the set was good, and the band was amazing. However, the venue was rubbish. I was in the very front of the lawn, but in the end I had been standing for 6 hours straight, in dust and crushed plastic bottles. That, plus all of the jockeying for position that was going on at the front of the lawn, almost ruined my first Dave experience. However, in the end the music prevailed. As a result, I am now a MUCH bigger Dave fan than I was before.

Great show, I enjoyed it better than the 2nd night. #41 to start was amazing, Jimi with trey was great, needed to have a freestyle I think, for what it's worth outro was pretty good, fans could have helped out more. Nancies is always great to hear, and you know it is going into Warehouse. What you are a good way to end it, great show, CAN'T FUCKING WAIT FOR THE GORGE!

the show was a unique compilation of songs. The new stuff wasn't bad it was actually enjoyable. Steady as we go wasn't my favorite but i liked the use of flute in it. American Baby intro was rediculous i am happy they are finally starting to play it. LB and Jimmy thing were both sick with some great jams. Hopefully tomorrow the encore will be memorable and not have anything from the horid everday album. peace

I'm so glad I waited to leave my review. I was so worried that I would come here and hear a bunch of complainers talking about the dirt, or the bad sight lines, the drunk people, or the ferries....
Well... NONE of the above made a difference to me. I kept saying all night how we were at the ONE SHOW this tour that was IT. The one that was so perfectly put together, that it was just an amazing experience.
I tried explaining to my friends the experience I was having, covered in dirt, on the "lawn", dancing my heart out. I don't recall ever being so alive and so thankful to be a part of something. Central Park was amazing, but this was spiritual.

Great setlist, it was clear they wanted to give something special with the songs they played (Warehouse, Tripping Billies, Jimi Thing, etc.), Trey coming out was absolutely amazing. But, I'm lucky I have "reserved seats," aka fold-out chairs, because I feel bad for everyone on the lawn, which was a dirt lot. I walked around the whole venue earlier in the day and there was no chance in seeing the stage from way back on the lawn. All around an amazing show.

What a great show. Sunday's was better, but this one was still great. I couldn't have asked for a better opener than #41. Don't Drink is always a delight and I LOVED Time of the Season. You Might Die Trying is my favorite off of Stand Up along with American Baby so I was happy there. Crash Into Me and Jimi Thing were awesome. Tripping Billies was a nice suprise. Nancies > Warehouse was freakin' sweet. Robert Randolph was amazing on Bayou, and words cannot express how amazing Trey Anastasio was on Jimi Thing. I wish he would've come back sunday, but oh well. What You Are was great. Just a fantastic show. I love the Barenaked Ladies and Ray Lamontagne so that was great to see also. And Robert Randolph and the Family Band are just so damn good.

Amazing show....horrible experiences afterwards. #41 was the best opener I've heard so far, too bad no one on the lawn was into the "Everyday" outro. Jimi Thing with Trey is simply amazing! The midset Billies had so much energy! AMBaby Intro is awesome live, and Robert Randolf takes Bayou to new heights! WYA really needs to take another break though...I love the song, just not closing 50% of my encores. Take a look at aeroshady's reveiw to learn about our "fun" adventures trying to get back home....

Great show, RANDALLS ISLAND IS A TERRIBLE PLACE FOR A CONCERT!! The Warehouse lawn area was just dirt, not lawn. everyone in the area was pretty unhappy. The island is a major pain to get in and out of. it was a big nasty pile of dirt that everyone was piled on top of. i have sect 203 seats tonight, yet i'm dreading going back!! I WILL NEVER BUY TIX TO A RANDALLS ISLAND CONCERT AGAIN, WHAT A DUMP!! Stadiums and ampitheaters are better designed for this.

DMB was good as Normal they rolled thought the set. all the songs new and old are progressing to new levels every time I here them. Leaving Sucked. I thought Nissan was bad. waiting in Harlem till 3 in the morning for a bus is not cool. over all the night sucked, not because of DMB. every thing elce From Dust to people to the the person with me. bummer

We didn't wait for the ferry after the smell of gasoline. It took us 30 minutes to find the path to walk over the bridge like the fans the night before suggested. I had heard the 2 step at the Palm Beach show but would have stayed longer if I knew how we were getting off the island.
The Bayou with Robert Randolph was a lifetime memory. But not as memorable as All along the watchtower for me which was a first even though this was my 10th show.

Such an amazing show. All i wanted to hear was 41 and they opened with it. I knew it was Trey when he said a friend was in town and they played an amazing TB. RR was crazy rockin with Boyd and ive never seen him live so that was cool. So many classic songs blended in with the SU songs perfectly it was just nuts.
Nancies -> Warehouse was insane... just wish he improvised the Nancies intro and said something about Randall's Island like he did for Central Park.
I knew we were gettin an ODH/ WYA encore but i love WYA live so i'll never complain about hearing that because its so good.

This show was close to 07.23 in alpine... great song flow the entire night... the venue however was awful... one way to get there... and the "lawn" consisted of a bunch of dirt which was blowing around in the soft breeze... but i digress... 41 again to open is solid... 1SW overplayed but always good... dreamgirl was real good tonight... DDTW fantastic... Zombies cover is strong... hunger and die trying both good newbies... didn't even mind crash at this point... my buddy called a trey appearance earlier in the evening... i called b.s. and was pleasantly suprised to see him rock the house on jimi thing... best version i've seen... and then to come right back w/ my fav of billies was dynamite... he could have played anything the rest of the way and i would have taken it... always like to hear american baby... nancies/ warehouse combo strong again... bayou is good by itself but robert randolph kicks it up a notch... encore was solid... ODH is okay... but What You Are is a tremendous way to end a show and i am glad the boys dusted it off and threw it at us for this tour... and oh yeah on a side note the X80 bus line was way too long afterwards so we trekked it a few miles over the triborough bridge and cabbed to manhattan afterwards

Wow! #41 opener...into an awesome set list. My 10th show (6th this season) was certainly among if not the best. Robert Randolph was the best warm-up act and was electrifying - dancing and playing the slide on Bayou. Needless to say, Trey was also spectacular on an awesome version of Jimi. Would have preferred a more jammin encore, but no complaints other than the restrooms on this show. Nancies was unreal. Weather was perfect... it was one sweet world!

Holy crap!! The show started out perfectly and was incredible all the way through. I definitely think Fonzie teased Recently before going into #41 but I could be wrong. The guys all seemed to have tons of energy and really went nuts on all the jams. Trey and RR were incredible to see as guests and showed why the band loves them to jam with them. Highlights had to be Jimi Thing, TB, LB, and 41, not to mention every other song they played. By the way, the AB intro is great.
