great pre-game under the tree in the field and amazing show... strong handful of songs to start (especially grey street and pig).. idea of you is a great new song. CORTEZ was outrageous. they played through warren's solo twice (better than central park).. great nancy/warehouse. can't stop is a cool new song. R&R is always great live. #41 was INSANE. it was a like a 41 minute #41 with the stage crowded with some of the best musicians just ripping it up together. that was a once in a life time exprience. ants marching is fun but they had the stupid flood lights on for most of the song and it killed the mood a bunch.
it was probably my favorite show (over Central Park and some other killer shows).. i am just not going to write anything about the weak and frankly disappointing encore.. i don't want to spoil the memories...

Best Dave show I've seen. Cortez the Killer with Warren Haynes was amazing. They should play that song more often. And a half hour version of #41 made the whole concert worth it in itself. The view was beautiful too with the sun setting behind the stage over the backdrop of NYC. Awesome concert. Come back to Randall's Island Dave!

Wow, Cortez with Warren and 41 with Flecktones definitely the super highlights. Best 41 that I have knowledge of. So Right was amazing also. Didn't hear some of the songs I was looking for like Last Stop, STDH, GIG... but hey no complaints. Great show and great intensity. Dave got a little sloppy at the end but who cares. Smooth Rider a disappointing encore, only weak point I would say. Greaaaat times

This was by far the best DMB show I've been to. The setlist was phenomenal and the crowd had amazing energy. The band really responded to the energy and the result was an incredible experience.
Setlist highlights include Dave's solo encore openor of "Sister" (which I love) and a high-powered "Ants Marching" with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones on stage to end the set. I loved hearing "Pig", a song I last saw performed almost 4 years ago to the day. The powerful version of "Cortez The Killer" was totally moving and blew me (and most of the fans) away. Following that was "Dancing Nancies" and "Warehouse", which were two energetic songs that I'd easily put on my top 10 DMB songs list. Opening with "One Sweet World" was great also and I loved hearing "Grey Street" in the beginning of the set.
One of the other highlights of the night was the jam on "#41" with the Flecktones, who gradually joined the band during the song. Between that, hearing "Cortez" "Nancies" and "Warehouse" back to back, closing with such an awesome version of "Ants" and hearing Dave solo on "Sister", I couldn't have asked for a better show or a more enjoyable night.

Went to this show on a whim, as my friend had tickets. I wasn't really listening to DMB at this time. But still had a blast. I was 19, and I bought a wristband from someone who was able to drink, then bought beers for our friends. I felt like a champion.
Other memory is that it was super muddy and buses took forever to get out.

GREAT show. got in a little later than i had hoped, partway through the 'tones' first song. but i had a great time meeting people and chilling before hand in our section. the show itself was great. oddly lackluster start, even though i love all those songs, it took me until pig before i really connected with them. #41 was astonishing and i will treasure that for a really long time. ants was sweet too. nice to get my 2nd cortez ever! although i had heard from a little bird it was on the setlist, so i wasn't surprised, just excited. vocally, weaker than CP since dave was struggling basically the whole weekend, but musically i think it was a bit better than CP--they didn't just end, they went back into it again, which was a cool touch. yeah, great show. sister was also nice to hear, i think it is a really pretty little song.

I live in Spain and when I knew that it was going to be a DMB concert in New York during my stay there I bought the ticket immediately just to see my first live concert of DMB after years and years listening to them on CD and it was a fantastic experience. I hope someday they will come to Spain and we can enjoy another great concert. I was seat in section 603, but I canīt see on the venue map, so I put myself on Lawn

We knew that we would be in for some great guest jamming with
Gov't Mule and the Flecktones on the bill, and we got it. 41 was amazing, as the Flecktones absolutely took over the song. Jeff Coffin wailed on two brilliant sax solos that clearly left Roi and Rashawn quite impressed. Haynes on Cortez was great to finally see live. Can't Stop seems to be developing as it actually contains a chord progression (on bass) in a couple parts, rather than the same bass line repeating throughout the song. Sister was great to hear (only the second time for me in seven shows this year). This ranks as one of the best DMB shows I have been to.

I've been disappointed by may DMB shows in the past - lacking energy, branching out in disparate directions - really missing the basic elements that defined them in the 90s. I headed up to NYC for a great day of music. As the sun was setting, after Gov't Mule hit the stage, the boys took the stage.
This show was a 180.
Starting off the Evening with One Sweet world and Crash - not bad. Grey Street, Pig (always nice), What Would you say - really bumping it up a level. So Right has a great sound with Rashawn Ross on trumpet (great addition). Warren Haynes, hair flying, staring down the neck of his guitar, and squeezing the very life out of the neck of that thing to really make it SING before he and Dave busted out Cortez the Killer - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. One of my favorite songs, and to hear it live. WOW.
Just when things couldn't get any better, out comes Bela and the Flecktones for one of the most incredible #41 jams I've ever heard, much less seen.
Carter is the man (undisputed), Stefan, Boyd and LeRoi are tight. Watching them play with/against the Flecktones was a sight to behold. The energy was incredible - out of body. I was floating at that point, and then, as if it couldn't get any better, right on in to Ants. I was transported back.
Not to mention the lungs on Rashan Ross - what a great addition to the band on trumpet.
All in all, probably the most energetic show I've ever seen. I've been waiting almost 15 years for this kind of show, and I feel truly privileged to have been present, and to have such an AWESOME recording from Scott Brown.

This was the best full set of DMB I have ever seen! I say that because I got to see Dave do Cortez The Killer with Warren Haynes which was a dream come true! I've always wanted to see that after hearing it on the central park show. Also, the rest of the setlist was stellar and I never thought I would see Dave in New York City. It was very amazing and comparable to the state college show that used to be my favorite. This show was better because the State College show was part of the Vote For A Change Tour and the set was not as long.

WOW! This was a stellar night. Right from the beginning. OSW is such a great opener. Gov't Mule was great, Soul Shinning was a great closer leading into the DMB show. Nice setting at Randall's Island. Tons and tons of people, with some chilling in the trees on the side, pretty cool. Highlites include: Crash, Nancies>Warehouse, Sister, WWYS, Idea of You, So Right, Stay, Cortez the Killer, and Ants. Tim Wix was cool as hell on the sax during Warehouse. Warren was great, the third time I've seen him with the band and he is always sooo good! To hear Cortez the Killer for the first time since Central Park was a real treat. The song of the night, and probably the best I have ever heard was #41. This is my absolute favorite song, and to hear the band perform it with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones is the pinnacle of it all! The sojourn of arjuna was great to hear them do, I just love that. Bela was awesome on the Banjo. He really adds alot to their sound. Victor Wooten was the man, he is so good on the bass. Ever since I saw a copy of the 12/19/98 show I have wanted to see him play with DMB. This show is one of the best I have ever seen, it deffinitely rivals Central Park. See everyone tomorrow night at the Island, can't wait!

Absolutely amazing show. It seems that the guys always bring a little extra something with them when they come to NYC...The Central Park Sow, The James Brown Show, last year's amazing two night stand at Randall's Island, and now this.
The begining was great (esp. Pig - always one of my favorites), although nothing spectacular, but the show really got going when Warren Haynes came out to play Cortez! Nancies was amazing, followed up by the best version of Warehouse I've ever seen - amwesome jamming, plus Dave added the "Louie Louie" interpolation that he hasn't done in years! But like true showmen, the saved the best for last - #41 (my alltime fav song) with Bella and all the Flecktones was INSANE. You could literally feel the energy as 11 amazing musicians combined to produce one of the grestest jam sessions EVER, then after nearly 30 minutes they went straight in to ANTS MARCHING! By the time it was over, I was happy for the break - I needed to sit and catch my breath. Smooth Rider and Stay were a great end to one of the best concerts I've been to. Truley a Pantheon level performance.

Day one was pretty sweet with great energy. Guest appearances by Bela Fleck/Flecktones and Warren Haines made the show that much better. Great "Cortez the Killer" and "Jimi Thing" jams. Day 2 didn't seem to have as much energy in the beginning and I was upset that they didn't have Bela play when they did "Last Stop." It was still a good set though. All in all the whole Randall's scene was great and I would go again.

Rashawn Ross was super when he played, and hearing Bela, etc. play #41 and ants was just so much fun. Carter was the best of the five tonight. So Right & Cortez were such a huge surprise to hear, grey street was the same but it was longer in the end, 4th pig in a row for me too. I was satisfied before the encore, although I think the encore could've used a Baby Intro/Die tryin->Two step/billies, stay is getting a little old. Had to watch the videos the whole time though b/c the sound system was right in the way, but other than that, I had a great time. Great acoustics!

Between Cortez and #41 it was all i needed for the night. I can deal with HFTGL if they just tour with the Flecktones

Show was going pretty well at the beginning, but pretty ordinary for the first six or seven songs, and then, BOOM. Warren Haynes on Cortez, a fiery Nancies>Warehouse, and #41 with the Flecktones>Ants with the Flecktones. The show just lit up half way through. Encore doesn't look so hot on paper, but Carter's work on Smooth Rider was HOT, and Stay was a fun closer. I'll be there tomorrow, and even though tomorrow's show will probably be slightly better than tonight's, you can't feel shortchanged if you only saw Night 1 this year. I mean...41 with the Flecktones, Cortez with Warren...great show.

OMFG! Warren? Bela? After Flecktone & Gov't Mule warm up acts ? Only thing that could be better is a few different tunes in the set list. WOW! We're talkin' tight. Unbelievable jams!

Although the boys played a great set and some new material from "Stand Up", it was a terrible gig...
We were seated in the "lawn" which was really dirt. Randall's Island is known as the 'dirt bowl' or 'dust bowl'. It was a hot August day, the beer was outrageously priced, the sound quality was shitty from where we were...
All I remember is "Grey Street"... So sad for I would have loved to have said I remembered hearing "Sister".
