My 8th show and without a doubt the best DMB experience I've ever had. 3rd row seats were a big reason, but that main set was unbelieveable.

Bartender/Pig/Granny started the show and from there I was on cloud 9 the whole night. Recently was absolutely sick. ODH>>Why I Am was cool, and WIA is my favorite of the new songs, one of the best they've written since tLWS. Nancies and Jimi were great jams. The triplets came back in force and then Carter blew the roof off during Two Step.

I was a tad disappointed to hear Stay versus Last Stop in the encore, but I got over it quickly. The whole night was unreal. Well worth the trip from Minneapolis.

this show gets 5 stars and a vote for a live trax series...bartender to open, pig, then granny,an epic and i mean epic "old dirt hill" tease outro into "why i am"(and that song is going, going, gone finally), nancies, a mid-set Don't drink the water? yes really a mid-set don't drink the water, solid version of funny the way it is,A BIG HIGHLIGHT was a full Recently with interlude, another HIGHLIGHT CRUSH, and my new favorite combo Spaceman->corn bread(with banjo solo)an even bigger HIGHLIGHT an amazing jimi thing, SMTS->ASTB->TM and then the show stopper and defining moment of the show that summed up the night, an amazing two step with a full drum solo. the encore was cool i enjoy tim's new addition to #27 and stay is always a good song.LAST STOP TEASE THE ENTIRE ARENA WAS CHANTING IT

This show was awesome! The energy from the start to the end of the main set was unreal!! Highlights for me included Bartender, Recently, Jimi Thing (Jeff tore it up and played two saxes at once), and Two Step (Carter was a beast!!!). The Last Stop tease was insane...I though we were going to get it. Overall this show is one of, if not the best, show I've been too!!

Show was awesome until the encore. "Stay" is the worst closing song ever by Dave and I wish he would stop doing it. The jams were amazing with Jimmy and Crush, then into 2 Step and then tho have such a let down was terrible. Could have been an historic show and then "Stay" happened. Still a great performance.

Outstanding! Nifty way to start the show (curtains yanked up on the downbeat of Bartender), awesome run through the first dozen songs. Tim was on fire, Rashawn was amazing, and Jeff is coming into his own, finally. Good to see John, and always a pleasure to hear Danny (his solo intro to Cornbread set the tone for the best performance of that song I've heard). Dave's scatting just gets better, and Carter. Is. A GOD.

I'd have to say the best concert I've been to, even though I was pretty high up. The energy level of the band was phenomenal-Jeff's sound definitely fits in with the band;more so than I was expecting. They definitely gave their all for the home crowd-can we say no covers at all?! I dig their covers but they definitely put on crowd favorites.
Bartender opening just set the stage for how the night was going to be
Pig and Granny just continued that feel-great jams and great crowd response.
A little "Old Dirt Hill" and then into "Why I Am" was definitely original and threw in some new.
Dancing Nancies to continue the jamming free-for-all.
Don't Drink The Water-a personal favorite of mine;I had a feeling they were going to play it from Tim's Homeland Security shirt(or maybe it was wishful thinking..either way!)
Funny The Way It is-their new songs are a lot tighter than I expected this early on!
Recently-Back on your feet and dancing
Crush...after a little teasing from Stefan
Spaceman Into Cornbread-maybe a little predictable...but so is So Much To Say into Too Much and I don't complain about that...
Jimi Thing-another 16 minute jam :)
So Much to Say and Too Much-STILL high energy
And topping off the set with Two Step(I honestly thought this would be the encore)but this was one of the best versions I've heard...INSANE energy throughout

Encore:
#27...sweet
Stay...we still ended on a good high energy song
No Last Stop like we were chanting for...but we did get a little tease that got me pumped.
Again-the best concert I've seen-I got last minute tickets after seeing the night before's and knowing they'd have to pull out a longer and more hometown pleasing set list....and they didn't disapoint!

Review:
You know what I hate? A concert that is dominated with new material. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy listening to new stuff but when the show precedes a new album release, I don’t have the chance to get familiar with new songs that might be played on tour. What I was really happy with was the album balance as DMB finishes a two night stand in their hometown of Charlottesville.

From the first notes of Bartender I knew I was going to be in for a full bodied Dave Matthews Band experience. The first show I’ve attended since the late death of LeRoi Moore, I was curious to see how Bela Fleck & The Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin would perform. I was glad to see that Coffin was able to honor LeRoi with a talented performance that included performances on the flute and even pulled off jam solo that included LeRoi’s trademark “If I Only Had a Brain” interpolation.

It wasn’t until a few seconds into Granny that the matrix of video screens came alive providing some camera angles but mostly stock footage and music video clips. It was at a close-up of Stefan that I noticed that he was wearing glasses- I didn’t know he needed them.

After teasing Old Dirt Hill the band went into their first Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King song, Why I Am. I particularly liked how the Old Dirt Hill tease meshed well with Why I Am, a rockabilly song with a strong beat. Following a Dave Matthews scat, Dancing Nancies gave violinist Boyd Tinsley to show off his skills with a series of crisp and vibrant solos. A performance of Don’t Drink the Water gave TR3 front man Tim Reynolds a chance to provide the supporting guitar riffs that brought the song back to its album recorded glory.

After a plug for his new album, Dave then goes into Funny The Way It Is, the first single of the new album. Dave and Co. then introduced John D’Earth and followed with Recently which gave Coffin and Matthews a chance take the song back with a Pretty Pretty Girl jam solo.

The crowd goes wild with Crush and the band then introduces Danny Barnes who contributed on the banjo for a performance of Spaceman. The band then finished off with tour debuts of Jimi Thing, So Much To Say, Anyone Seen The Bridge, and Too Much. A 16 minute Two Step finishes the set.

The band kicked off the encore to chants calling for Last Stop, after a tease of the song Dave acts confused, “Fast Job? Ass Pop?” He then finishes the night with #27 and Stay (Wasting Time.)

For what could have been a night dominated with unfamiliar material turned out to be a 2 and a half hour cavalcade of classic DMB. The crowd was left satisfied as the band ended their stint at the John Paul Jones Arena.

Worth the trip up to charlottesville, had a drink at Miller's and the band delivered big time, why I am is so sick especially old dirt hill right into it, my first recently, the best two step i have ever seen, and the best jimi thing with coffin playing two saxophones in his mouth at the same time and of course tim, Really liked John D Earth and Danny Barnes, from opening to closing the band brought it really nasty all night long worth the drive, Charlottesville was beautiful and the crowd is great everyone was into it and very friendly, one of the best crowds for a Dave show that I have been to by far

This was my 8th show and by far the best. Maybe it had been too long since last summer, maybe it was that I had never been that close to the stage, but they just seemed to be at top form in C'ville Night #2. The opening Bartender, Granny, and Pig proved to be one of the best yet, and Two Step was on fire. These guys seem to be having a great time together, and Jeff and Rashawn really held their own the entire night! And Stay as encore didn't even bother me!

What a wonderful show in STARK CONTRAST from the night before. The bands energy was there and they were groovin. Daves voice still being pretty shot from the middle of the set diddnt matter, the band had his back and they kept the energy most of the night. The only sitters in my WAREHOUSE section were during the new songs. I never sat down. Row A in the uppers is great at JPJ. I could lean right over the rail. Thanks ants ticket exchange!

The guests were great and the highlights IMO would be all the songs playd with guests, including Recently which was amazing.

When the band went into SMTS-ASTB-Too Much I figured it was over because it was pushing 11pm already, and then two step blew my mind. Carter had a great drum solo during it.

Encore was my only weak point. STAY being the weakest power slot, I would have taken Billies over it anyday. We all would have loved to hear LAST STOP, but Dave's voice was in no way shape or form prepared to try that, so the tease was nice. Other than that, great show at JPJ, they band really redeemed themselves from the night before.

Best show I've seen. Bartender/Pig/Granny was a real treat. The entire show was just so high energy. However, I was very disappointed by the encore. It was only two songs, #27 which is kind of ho-hum, and Stay. But where was Last Stop (Fast Drop? Ass Pop?)!!! the night before there was a FOUR SONG encore, and night two they cut it in half. Best Two Step I've ever heard; needs to be a release at some point. They played the songs the real fans wanted to hear tonight. Dave went crazy over the banjo player and Jeff on the Trumpet. Priceless Dave mannerisms all night long. The new versions of the songs are good and look promising to get better throughout the spring and summer tours. The new songs: Why I am was the most loved followed very closely be Funny the way it is. Spaceman is a jam song but it needs some work. The dave scat style lyrics just aren't rubbing me the right way and the people I went with agreed. However, the only downfall of the show is the way Dave teased the last stop as we all chanted. He was egging us on to scream it louder and then went on to play #27; guess we didn't cheer loud enough. Overall, one of the best shows I've been to.

Certainly better than last night, with some amazing energy. Recently and Pig were certainly highlights and I always love a Bartender opener. However, I could've done without Cornbread - played both nights at Alpine last year and both nights here, so I am more than tired than this less than average song. I really don't mind SMTS - ASTB - TM, but I think it was better than average playing of it here. A sick Two Step, with a weak encore. Really Stay? such a strong setlist is finished with Stay? It didn't need to be Last Stop, it could've been Billies, Drive In -- just anything but Stay.

Cool day in C-Ville. Went to Millers for lunch and beers (Dave used to bartend and play there...way back in the day). Meandered down to the Earth Dat Festival...I wandered down to the stage to check out some bands while Shauna tried to figure out how to save the Planet with the local hippies. TR3 took the stage and were on fire...really cool to see Timmy that close (maybe 5 rows deep). Night 2 was good...cool to hear some of the new material from BWATGGK. Security busted me on my way in to the arena with a bottle of new castle shoved down the front of my underware...they took it from me and we exchanged a little laugh...Shauna just shook her head at me (she suggested to me several times that it was a bad/dumb idea, it turns out that she was right).

Outstanding show strong set list of Bartender, Pig, Granny, SMTS>ASTB>Too Much, new songs of Funny the Way it Is and Why I Am are great, but Spaceman is a buzzkill would expect to see it gone by August. #27 gets better with each show. Dave was spraying throat moisturizer and guzzling who knows what, but his voice was strong until Two Step. Solid crowd. Brilliant Tim and Jeff duel on sax vs. guitar definitely a highlight. Dave joked on Last Stop, but we were disappointed to get a Stay instead. Great jams on Recently, Jimi and Nancies. Dave's guitar died during Two Step prompting a terrific Tim solo and Carter was more breathtaking than usual, he is a force of nature to watch. Is it me or are Warehouse tickets getting suckier? Complete obstruction of Jeff and Rashawn. It was great to hear John D'earth again he is a brilliant hornsman and an integral part of the Virginia music scene.

Great show, one of the better ones that I have attended. The band really seemed excited tonight. Dave and Carter bashed knuckles after almost every single song, and I was excited that they were excited. The setlist was great, and the Bartender Pig Granny opening three really opened things up right. The only time when it slowed down a bit was Spaceman. It's an okay song, but didn't rock like the rest of the show did. One of the cool moments was the Old Dirt Hill intro to Why I Am. Didn't see that one coming, and it was sweet. Very solid performance overall. Would love to see it on Live Trax or DMBLive.

Plenty of highlights but the standouts for me were Recently (pretty, pretty girl!) and Crush, back to back with John D'Earth, and then bringing out Danny Barnes and having him also guest. It looked like the Dave Matthews Orchestra with 9 people on stage! So, so cool. Jimi Thing was really, really good, too and Two Step was a monster! Plus, best version of Old Dirt Hill ever!!! The encore was weak, but not because of The Last Stop thing. Sure, it would have been nice, but #27 was not the song to play instead. Why not Stay & Billies??

For me, three spring shows, three encores I didn't like. Next up is SPAC, who knows what can happen by then?

I thought this was a solid show from start to #27 (Stay encore is not a fav of mine AT ALL). Thought this show opened HOT!!! Bartender opener (never bad- love it-- miss Roi :-( ), Pig- one of my favs!!, Granny (whohawho whohawho whohawho- luv it), ODH>>Why I am (Loved it!! Thought these songs worked well together and I'm not a fan of ODH usually), Nancies (never bad), DDTW (nuff said), and FTWII (I love this song and I'm not just being a fanboy) Thought it was super gr8 and high energy to that point. I found myself getting expectations at this point and thinking they would play til 11:45. I always love guests so to have 2 at this show was fun! I was so excited for Last Stop but it was a tease and didn't like the chant to get it. I did wanna hear it due to trenchcoat bum ruining it for me last go round in Cville but it was not to be..Nice #27. Then I'm thinking what's gonna close the show- a full Last Stop? Halloween maybe? Maybe 2 more song? OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! I'm excited...Shit. It's Stay. :-( Still a great show and gr8 energy! I could go my whole life and not see a Stay closer again and be happy.

In "The Holy Land" the Charlottesville show was to say the least infuckincredible. The highlight and climax of the show was definitely the long extended jam on the tail of Two Step which featured Carter completely destroying a drumstick and the song with his amazing solo. In addition, played was my favourite song "Recently." Overall the show was the best I have seen in my short experience; an excellent solute to their home.

Slower show with lots of jams. Feels like the band lost some of their energy from the night before. Brilliant interpretations on the solos, but just a lot less energy that I was used to.

Would have been a unanimous 5-star show if they had played Last Stop instead of just teasing it.

One of the best shows I have been to in years, until they pulled out STAY! Charlottesville deserves a better closer.

By far better than Night I.

Why the show owned:

The band was more into playing together tonight; Looooooong/solid set;
No Stand Up or Everyday songs save for one, Dirt Hill, but it was a fake into my favorite new song;
Barnes and D'Earth were nice additions to the stage;
Stay was a bit of a buzz kill, especially after the Last Stop tease, but by that point, they had played their hearts out...

Great weekend! Night one was fine, but this set tonight made up for the whole weekend.

I give this nite another 4-4.5..ALOT of repeats..i mean the transition from spaceman..>cornbread was very predictable..John D'Earth was GREAT addition however..and the addition of some different tunes went over good! Recently, Jimi Thing, Crush, and Two Step probably most notable on the nite. The new songs are sounding better by the nite, i do however think its time for them to debut more then just the same 3 the've been playing however..A good long first set, better then friday nites, short one.and encore was decent.#27 and Stay were both ON..Good show in CVille guys, always glad for yall to come back to the homeland.! see you again in 3 years.!

This show was simply amazing! After night 1 I expected a good show but it was even better than I expected. The hightlights were a sick Recently that Dave really seemed into (love the pretty pretty girl, on broadway outro), Coffin tearing it up on Jimie Thing, and Carter being Carter on aa sick Two Step. The crowd was insane and the band seemed to be feeding off the energy! Was hoping for the Last Stop and loved the tease....Have not heard Stay in a long time so really enjoyed it. Definatly one of the best shows I have ever seen! Loved C-ville and Hope to be back soon! Here's to 2 great nights coming up at SPAC!!!!!!!

3 hour show, Carter on Two Step was great as usual, besides the two songs from the new album, completely different concert than the night before.
