Good vibes tonight, had a ton of fun. Dave's voice was spot on. Raven Rocked. Baby Blue was smooth.

Alot of good songs that i've heard many many times unfortunately (Jimi Thing, Crush, The Maker). The JT ending was pretty cool though, something about "Sexy MotherFucker, you gotta shake that ass," or something along those lines. Would have appreciated Where Are You Going in the set if I wasn't the Designated Driver tonight so i could get a beer!

Kinda anticipated more outta Squirm tho...

Rating 3.5

This was my 6th show this year and they are still on fire! Last night was my first time in the pit and i had to fight for Carter's drum stick, but i got one!!! We had a sign that said DMB is the best of what's around, dave saw it and we think they played it because of us! I cannot wait for N2

Pretty average show in my opinion. I just feel the set never really got into a solid flow. Good six song stretch to start and then slowly drifted after that. Really enjoyed hearing BOWA, Raven and SMLAM. Best jam of the night was actually on YMDT. I know that people don't think to highly of this song, but the jam and outro on it are solid. I am really surprised/disappointed with no RR on any songs. Not sure what the deal with that was, but I would'be bet the house beforehand that we would've gotten at least one guest song with him. Not a big fan of the Jimi closer. It is just not climatic enough way to end a set in my opinion. Tim was really on to start the show and then it slowly shifted over to Boyd dominated. This seems to be pretty consisten with what I have been reading about recent shows.

Amazing for a show promoting an album. Highlights included the jam on You Might Die Trying (surprisingly), Crush and the Jimi set closer. Loved hearing Squirm, Alligator Pie, & Shake Me Like a Monkey. Time Bomb can hold its own as an encore closer--despite those in the crowd who weren't around to hear it. Only low point was Where are you going. It didn't fit the vibe of the night at all. Loved hearing the Maker in the encore. Was quite surprised to hear Raven. While they played it well, don't know if I'd miss it if I didn't hear it live again. All in all, a very solid show. Looking forward to night two!

it was a good show not arguing that fact....i love this venue the view was breath taking! we had REAL good lawn seats right in the center up against the rail--so for 50 bucks had a great view of the band! now dont get me wrong i love alll dave songs he is amazing, BUT i WISH i was at the 2nd night....i think that set-list looked awesome, but hey --anytime seeing dave is a great time! even though regular seats dont have the view - i might get them for the simple fact some people on the lawn are assholes ;

LOTS OF ENERGY!!! The band brought it last night...everything was very good and I was impressed (5th show of the summer out of 6) although the 3 song encore of baby blue (dave solo), maker, and time bomb could have included some older stuff. They finished before 11 and I felt like they were trying to extend the maker to make the show feel longer. The first 3-5 songs of the night only took about 20-30 mins - they were moving quickly. Would have liked to hear Warehouse after nancies and shotgun. Maybe my luck will be better tonight! Come visit - P8 seats 11/12.

BOWA unexpected gift & highlight. Appreciated Crush, Spaceman, fresh Gator Pie arrangement & late JThing (with insert of PRINCE'S 'Sexy Mother Fkr' "shakin' that ass, shakin that ass' !!! God Bless!), Baby Blue acoustic encore followed by Maker. TimeBomb's becoming solid closer, but didn't feel it after Maker.
IF you've been spinning LT16 since co-shipped with Big Whiskey's release from dmb.com, several great arrangements unfortunately Xeroxed this evening. IF NOT, you musta looved 'em, go buy LT16. Over 40% from Big Whiskey - band's jammin' 'em & crowd's lovin''em given familiarity.

venue: Great visual panorama (from lawn stage right) of Stage, Crowd, Waterfront, Delaware River, Ben Franklin Bridge, and Philly skyline (incl fireworks) - too bad it's Jersey! Riverfront tailgating helps the vibe. Single porta-john's didn't.

Oh to be at Sunday N2. Solid Saturday N1 show, worth the trip, as always they come to play!

Nothing like seeing DMB on a Saturday night on your birthday! I had a great time. Robert Randolph and the Family Band were excellent as an opening band and was by far the best opening band I have ever seen for DMB. DMB was in great form, as always, and played a great set. This would be my first time seeing them w/o Leroi Moore on saxophone. I really enjoyed the new album, Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King, and knew they would play quite a bit from that album. They ended up playing ten songs from that album!

“Funny The Way It Is,” was the opener, surprisingly, and a very good one at that.

Next they played “Seven,” which is another one of my favorites from their new album and the performance was flawless.

“Why I Am” followed as Dave dedicated it to Grux, the nickname for late saxophonist Leroi Moore and I truly loved it.

Hearing “The Best of What’s Around,” was a great surprise and have not seem them do that song live since 2000 at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia.

They followed that up with a jamming “So Damn Lucky,” a song I hope they might play and which has quickly become one of my favorite DMB live tunes. Tim Reynolds was wonderful on guitar all night.

Another wonderful surprise was hearing “Raven,” a song from the album Busted Stuff. It sounded great too. I never heard them do that song live before and was really enjoyable.

I thought the show got kicked up another notch when they played “You Might Die Trying” and had me dancing and jamming with Tim Reynolds, Stefan, Boyd, Rashawn Ross, and Jeff Coffin on horns. It was breathtaking to say the least and to me, one of the great highlights of the night.

“Shake Me Like A Monkey,” kept the momentum high spirited, and was fantastic. Another favorite of mine from Big Whiskey and a song I hoped they would play. And they did!

The version of “Crush” was astonishing, and a truly superb performance as Boyd Tinsley, Tim Reynolds, and Jeff Coffin all jammed out into different solos only to be followed by Carter’s own astonishing drum solo at the end. It was truly amazing and loved every second of it of what DMB does best. Another fantastic highlight of the concert!

Exceptional renditions of newer songs “Spaceman” and “Alligator Pie” from the album Big Whiskey followed and were terrific Saturday night party songs. (And I can still party w/o drinking or drugging). Again, those were two songs that I thought they might play and they sure did and they were done very well.

A song I was secretly hoping they would play was in fact, “Dancing Nancies,” and it was amazing! To hear that on a beautiful Saturday autumn night on my birthday was just completely awesome! “Look up at the sky, its open wide…” I haven’t seem them perform that song since 2003. I’m so glad they played that and Jeff Coffin, once again, proved to be a great saxophone player and didn’t miss a beat.

“Where Are You Going” was another interesting surprise and I had fun with the crowd around me with that song as I sang along with the lyrics.

DMB once again rose to the occasion on “Squirm,” a rocking tune from the Big Whiskey album. Really got the crowd rocking once more.

A pleasant, wonderful version of “You & Me,” also had me singing along to the lyrics, as I tried to dance with some young hippie women around me one more time.

“Jimi Thing” was the set closer, and was nothing short of superb. DMB jammed and jammed as they did all night, and provided the crowd with a wonderful rendition of a DMB classic.

The encore provided three more songs, two more from Big Whiskey. Dave’s solo performance of “Baby Blue” was absolutely beautiful.

“The Maker” followed with the entire band once again, a song that Tim Reynolds on guitar really shines on.

To end the night on my birthday, DMB played “Time Bomb,” a heavy rocking song that got me jumping up and down one more time and a great way to close the show!

Just a wonderful concert, some songs expected some songs unexpected, but never a disappointment throughout. It was a great night for my 36th birthday! Wahoo!

this was my 22nd show, 3rd of this year and it was great to see them live as always but the set never seemed to flow. It started off hot with Funny opening and hearing Raven and BOWA was amazing. It started to dwindle down from there. I was hoping for Cornbread after Spaceman, also hoping for the nasty/hard rock outro to Dancing Nancies and no Robert Randolph : ( Baby Blue was nice to hear for an encore but to shift from such a mellow start to the encore and end with Time Bomb, i just couldn't get back into the flow.

Excellent mix of songs. Dave's show was incredible, as was Carter's, Jeff's, Rashawn's, Boyd's, and Tim's!
The sound seemed a little off- a little too much treble, not much mid range, bass was okay, and we could not her Jeff's soprano bits very well.
The audience near us was friendly and respectful. Although, many of the people there, especially in the lawn seats were drunk and stupid, in an aggressive, embarrassing, and loud way.
One word, "Others."
We don't really care about your drama- stay home if you can't act like a grown-up human. You're embarrassing the rest of us. I wanted to mention that as a New Jersey native.
Overall, great show! Thanks to my sister-in-law for finding these awesome seats.

Ick. Slow show. Never got going for more than 2 songs. Couple nice changes of pace with Nancies, BOWA, and Crush... but otherwise...bleh. Encore was definately the worst I've ever seen in the 33 shows I've seen prior to Sat nights. I would have rather sat through a Space Between and I Did It encore than the one we got Saturday. Plus, the show was flooded with the new album. I understand playing the songs to promote the album... but the whole album except for 2 tracks? That's too much. Probably in the bottom 3 of the 35 total shows I've been to.

Had a few days to come down from the high... Amazing show in the front row between Jeff and Stefan... Thank You Warehouse!! Accomplished all that we wanted and more...

Handed a stick by Carter, screamed and smiled face to face with Boyd during nancies solo, watched Boyd play extra on crush solo trying to get jeff's attention that it's his cue to go over to Tim and play, Dave hitting Boyd in the back to say either 'nice solo or nice going waiting for Jeff'. Getting Dave's attention screaming 'Shotgun' before Squirm... Screaming Warehouse and happily getting WAYG in it's place. As close as you can get watching Jeff with 2 saxes on Jimi thing... I always rub my eyes or blame it on the 'wine' when looking at the stage/screen from afar... Holy crap, he really does have 2! Rashawn using his big ass hand in front of the trumpet

BOWA, are you kidding!! WAYG, YMDT always rocks, great Boyd night with Crush and Nancies, The Maker, Dave sounded like he was frickin' playing 2 guitars during Baby Blue, kept looking backstage to find the other one

Love BW, wouldn't trade a single song from the album that night... Except a Carter Two Step solo in place of Time Bomb would have been amazing! Jayme and I were the happiest people on earth singing like two retards during You & Me

The venue however left ALOT to be desired, from the blown loud speaker stage left for the lawn which made the lows sound very muddy to the lights from the concession area shining bright all show long I have to say the only worse venue I have to been this year was Darien Lake! Hopefully the folks at SBC will get that speaker fixed in time for tonights show!

This was a very good show. Why I Am was ruined for me because the Prime of New Jersey high school group behind us who were "smoking way more than just pot" had someone pass out stone-cold onto my girlfriend and me(who smokes anything besides pot at a DMB concert???). They left once they saw security coming, thank THE LORD. BOWA made those bad memories go away haha. The setlist was decent, but not ground-breaking, however, the energy from the band was awesome. I was pleased to hear a couple of tunes: Raven, Best of What's Around, Crush, So Damn Lucky, Jimi Thing, and of course all the Big Whiskey stuff. Slightly disappointed by the encore, although Time Bomb is pretty sweet live. I could have sworn they were gonna play Ants Marching because Carter nailed the snare after the last note of Time Bomb, but to no avail. Overall, a solid concert, especially for the first night at the venue, and for having to put up with heroin/crack/angel dust smokers for a little bit. Everyone else around us was cool though!
