if you ignore the fact that the audience was a bunch of idiots for the most part (i actually heard someone say "nobody likes this" when he started rye whiskey and i almost punched him), it was one hell of an incredible show. JTR to start it off- wow! Kit Kat Jam and Hello Again back in the mix and sounding AMAZING as well was awesome! I thought the Big Whiskey songs sounded more well developed and on par the with rest of the set than ever (I was vastly underwhelmed with their live renditions last tour)- especially shake me like a monkey! Great classics in there too- awesome Grey Street and Ants and an INSANE #41. Loved Break for It and YMDT encore- the YMDT jam was SICK. All in all, an amazing show, was SO happy to be there!!!

Just got home.

WOW! Just wow, wow, wow. Bust out after bust out. That out-did expectations and then some. The "Groo Pit" was great (packed, but great).

We saw the 6 string at the start and were betting on Grey Street- then JTR?! F*ck yea! Seven great as always. Then Hello Again! Beautiful Proudest Monkey. I was betting on Rye Whiskey at some point, but very surprised to see it mid-set. Crowd loves that one. Shake Me lookin great this year. Then things get silly with Busted Stuff (never again? hehe) and Kit Kat Jam. Let me tell ya, I can't get Kit Kat Jam outta my head. What an excellent jam. I loved that most people around me knew Break For It and went crazy like I did.

Serious damage done to the "Waiting to be liberated..." list, and an epic start to the tour! Can't wait to see what awesomeness awaits us tomorrow!!

Excellent excellent performance. They mixed their new stuff well with the old classics. Obviously we were all blown away with them bringing back JTR, Kit Kat Jam, Hello Again and Busted Stuff. I really like Break For It, hope to hear it again. I was lucky enough to be in the pit which was amazing. Excellent sign of things to come. See y'all at SPAC next weekend.

unbelievable show.. hearing JTR to open set the night off right.. surprise after surprise.. highlights of the night were the returns of hello again, kit kat jam and busted stuff, and too much.. definitely thought it was a fake.. the song of the night was definitely the debut of break for it, i just wish everybody around us would have just shut up and listened.. the only complaint i have about the setlist was the closer to the encore.. wish he went with watchtower

ok just got back from the show... i was in the lawn, and the vast majority of people i could see were not likin the set at all (this is because i think many people who go to this concert hardly know dmb songs, let alone like them... could be only the lawn people- but pretty much everyone i knew that went would be hardpressed to name 3 dave songs).. ive seen dave once a year for five years, and apart from the obvious surprises, this was filled pretty much with songs i've heard at each show (eg. YMDT, which I don't mind in the least, hes just played it at all my shows) .. the new song started out pretty awful (IMHO), but after the second half of it, i might have called it my favorite song from the set...
overall, i wasnt a huge fan of the show- thats probably because ive never been a big fan of some of the songs that people consider highlights of this one, namely kit kat jam and grey street :/
the band was on, he just didnt play like any of my top 25 songs (but spaceman was worth the price of admission for me!)

Really liked this show, almost a 5 for me, Run While You Can was great. YMDT needs to be lengthened and perfected if it's gonna close a show. Seemed like Dave misfired on his final YOU MIGHT DIE TRYING!!!! The band continued to play for several more bars and he had to come back and say it again.

It was "Teen Night", as is always the case in Hartford N1...too bad the little kids probably had no idea what a GREAT show it really was. I was hoping they'd dig deep and I was not dissappointed. The set list actually had (after Break for It) in the Encore Jimi, Don't Drink AND So Damn Lucky. Can you imagine if they played all that??????
WOW...N2, Can't wait and SPAC N2 should be off the charts.

I was pretty impressed with this show... had it's ups and downs at the beginning, but from Shake Me Like A Monkey onward... was EPIC!

JTR - a nice version... he stopped singing the words to the second half of the verses... where he normally scats. Was very nice.
Seven - Good Version... extended Tim's solo a bit, and it was really well performed tonight... Dave had his signature dance moves. Well done.
Hello Again - "hello" - MUSIC STARTS. Welcome back Hello... I missed you!
Spaceman - I could hit snooze everytime this song comes on... not my favorite... felt the energy dripping away from the crowd... but thanking the dear lord there was no Cornbread! :D
Proudest Monkey -->
Satellite - Pretty standard versions... was nice to hear them again.
Funny the Way It is - It is what it is. A good single.
Rye Whiskey (*solo*) - This song... confused the hell out of me.... why? He cut the 3rd verse.. Fonz had his bass just waving to his side.. just was like... Huh?!
Shake Me Like a Monkey - This got the entire crowd jumping, energy soaked.. beautifully done. Song gets better everytime I hear it.
Busted Stuff - Shocker... almost didn't recgonize it when it started up cause it had been so long. It was pretty much straight up Lillywhite version... with the Busted Stuff Album outro... and what was nice about it was Jeff's solo at the end tying it all together.
Kit Kat Jam - HOLY CRAP. I was paranoid cause I thought it was Stand Up... and when I saw the 12 string... and he started singing the words... I about lost it. EPIC Version.
#41 - BEAUTIFUL AS ALWAYS. Jeff tore the crap out of his solo... and just had to bow to the mastery of their art.
Grey Street - Good version, would love to see the third verse return... but they pulled it off nice.
You & Me - Song gets better everytime I hear it.
Dancing Nancies - At first, I thought his prompter broke, then it turned out that he wanted us to sing along. It was akward, but then we got it. He started singing on the last chorus but messed up the "la la la's" and got his own little acoustic version.. one of a few snafus they had tonight.
Too Much - So nice to see this song return. Missed it a bunch. Double intro. Well done.
Ants Marching - How can you argue this... I mean.. crowd went bananas.
E1: Break For It (new song, world debut) - ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! They said they'd never played it before, and wanted to dedicate it to their friend Roi. I tweeted some lyrics as fast as I could.. "Let's make a break for it... my queen, let's run while we can" LOVED IT.
E2: You Might Die Trying - Dave ended the song about 8 bars before the rest of 'em... but this song grows on me more and more everytime I hear it... but an odd closer considering the fan favorites... I was sure it woulda been Tripping Billies... but Oh well :)

All and All... Probably one of the best tour openers in years... and I'm not really sure what everyone complains about The Meadows for... this was my first concert here... crowds were pretty normal from my perspective. Hope to see some ants tomorrow.

So this show should really be considered 2 shows, not just 1... the first half and the second half. For as bad as the first half was, and it was pretty bad, the second half was that good, minus the ridiculously terrible encore. JTR was great to open but then 3 newer songs that aren't very good. Monkey into Satellite is always good but very slow and doesn;t keep up the pace. Next another 3 newer songs that again aren't very good, at least not back to back. So far we have the first half of the show which was very disappointing. Starting with Busted Stuff (still love the original name of She's My Bitch) then Kit Kat jam things started to pick up nicely and get really good. What pisses me off being a long time DMB fan is all the people in the seats around me who have no idea what JTR, Busted Stuff or Kit Kat Jam are but rock out to Shake me like a monkey and Hello Again... they shouldn't be aloud into the shows. Anyway, 41 was incredible as always followed by a pretty good Grey St. Next song sucked but here's whwere we get to sit for a few minutes. Then came a great Nancies followed by Too Much and you thought the set was over but then they went right into Ants and the place was rockin, great way to end the set. The momentum they built in the secong half came to a screatching hault with this new song which Dave said, "I don't think we've ever playin this for yall before." They should have left it that way because it was turrible as my man Charles Barkley would say. Then they ended with a song that is def not a closer and not even a good song if you ask me. Overall a not bad show but I expected much more... hopefully tomorrow will bring some more older songs and less new garbage.

Best tour opener ever as far as I can tell. Set list was more impressive than last year's opener at MSG. Great sound in the front of the lawn and pretty good crowd atmosphere. People were quiet for the debut of Break For It's debut which was really surprising. Great energy in JTF, Busted Stuff returns. Only bad part was mid set Rye Whiskey... guess the band isn't in full form yet and needed a breather?

Beginning of the show was real laid back. However was absolutely shocked and thrilled to see not one rare song played, but five!, JTR, Busted Stuff, Hello Again, Kit Kat Jam and Too much (first time full song in two years. The band sounded great, no rust whatsoever. With the exceptions of Rye Whiskey(snore...) and YMDT closing it was An INCREDIBLE SET. One I would have never thought of in a million years. JTR to open?? Could have given me 50 guesses and I wouldnt have picked that song. Oh, and I totally forgot about the debut of Break For It, a song which had only been sound checked before. With the band done promoting Big Whiskey and Dave and Stefan saying their gonna play different songs, I was expecting something to come out of the woodwork but not like this. If its any indication of whats to come, DMB is setting this up to be a summer to remember. TERRIFIC SHOW! Next stop, SPAC!
