After years of yelling "Bartender! PLEASE!" I finally heard it live. His live versions of "Two Step" are always incredible and this one did not disappoint. It was an awesome show!!! "Mercy" is an amazing song and I can not wait for them to record it, so glad they played it. Was the first time he didn't play "Ants Marching" or "Cornbread." Oh, well.

This show was absolutely phenomenal. My second favorite show I've ever been to. Cville '10 will never be topped for me, but this is right there with it. Had great seatmates to dance and sing with, the band was on freaking fire, and the setlist was outstanding. God, thank you for dmb.

There was a dark angry mood in the air last night which I don\\\'t mind at all. But it was heavy on Busted Stuff which shocked me. Starting with Grace is Gone seemed like a odd choice. But Eh Hee killed it as usual. I was waiting forever for the LIOG outra that never came. Can\\\'t stop was AMAZING! I had a feeling with the mood that we might get Halloween and sure enough it was the first song in the encore. Unfortunately the lovely folks at the Amphitheater cut the sound on the grass, im assuming because it was after 11, about 2 mins into the encore which was disappointing that we couldn\\\'t hear it at the level that it was meant to be heard. But otherwise fantastic show!

Great show. No complaints. They delivered for this show. Even the most fickle jaded fan can't find anything wrong with this show... it's up there with cville '10 and Raleigh '04 for me

Second night of Dave in a row for me and Brannon. Had tickets in the PIT. Had a great experience and one of the best DMB shows of my 38. A terrific setlist and great energy. LIOG was sick and the BEST version of Two Step I have ever gotten period. This band was on fire. Got my first Halloween also. Good times.

The setlist doesn't do this show justice...I have a feeling that it is going to be a challenge to capture the energy and excitement of the show via recording...you needed to be there.

Awesome show. LIOG was great as were Crush, Two Step with the Timb Bomb intro, my first Halloween in 33 shows and Gary Clark, Jr. was great on Can't Stop. I enjoyed seeing Dave on the piano as well.

HOLY SHIT! Best show I've ever seen in VB. The opening run was great. Love BOWA. This is my second show in a row with Halloween (AC N3) and it was epic. Crush, Two step, halloween, billies. god damn. i love this band.

What was not to like about this show. I kept thinking they were going to slow it down and play something obscure but it was just big classic after another big classic. High energy throughout the show, sound was amazing, anytime you can feel the slam of the bass and kick drum I am very happy. Have to listen to tapes again but an unbelievable and improv bartender one of the best I have ever heard, jeffs timing is amazing as well as two step. I thought after seeing AC with leon Mobley nothing could be better but it was crisp as it was all night, high energy, cant think of a time they played that intense and with the new lights and lasers going nuts, man what a show. Encore was great as well. I have seen some great shows, SPAC 09, CVIllE 0, GORGE 10 and I would put this one right there with them, the energy was special and Gary Clark Jr. on Can't Stop they created a new jam right then and there I had never heard before, that is when this band is at their best. Great show!

I thought this was one of the best shows i\\\'ve seen. They played Best Of Whats Around, Can\\\'t Stop with Gary Clark Jr. who I thought was an amazing opener! They also played a phenomenal Two Step and how could anyone not like Halloween with a segue into Tripping Billies. I was very happy to hear Out Of My Hands, but a little saddened to not hear So Right and Joyride, but hey you can\'t get them all in one concert. Overall they did a fantastic job performance-wise and setlist-wise.

One of the best shows I've ever seen! Amazing versions of LIOG and Two Step. Probably best version I've ever seen of Two Step, even better than the one I saw at Nats' Stadium in DC. Fisch's brother agreed. Also got Halloween, which was great.

Show 23 for me and it certainlY didn\\\\\\\'t disappoint! The guys were on fire tonight, Grace is gone was a great start! Wished they did black water but I\\\\\\\'ll take it. Eh Hee got it going and It is great to hear live. Not a big fan of big eyed fish but Bartender was awesome and set the tone for a great night!! Stay or leave was great full band. BOWA was an absolute pleasant surprise and it really got Me and the wifey dancing!!!! and even Crash was ok. LIOG was awesome but I got blue balls from no outro.... I was hoping they would bring it back on the encore but they didn\\\\\\\'t. First time for Why I am.... Loved it, made me miss Roi but who doesn\\\\\\\'t miss him...WAYG was great live, Grey Street was strong and is a good live song not a bIg fan but it sounded great. So glad to hear Mercy. If I didnt hear another song all night, this is the one I wanted to hear and it was great. Out of my hands afterwards is a good song to go into but could have used something else but it blended nicely. Can\\\\\\\'t stop was surprisingly good. I was not a big fan till I heard it tonight, it was awesome! Then Crush??? Which was awesome and Two Step was unreal!\\\\\\\'nn one of the best versions I have ever heard! Definitely the highlight for me! I love me some two step!!! I mean love!!!! Awesome version. Halloween into an incredible Billies to end!!!! Great end to a great night!! First time at VA Beach after like 7 or more shows in Virginia.... I will be back!!!

26th DMB show since 1998 and easily is one of the best two or three. Great energy and setlist. The Crush -> Two Step set closer, followed by Halloween -> Billies encore is about as good as you can get as a DMB fan.

This was Charlotte's first show she just turned 2. We bought lawn tickets and started the show there (first time in the lawn in about 7 years.) She was very excited when the show started but as we got about 2/3 of the way through the show she began to get tired so during Crush we walked down to the concession area to take a break. I then saw the side entrance to the pit and walked her over there, she saw how close the band was and that perked her back up. We stood behind the gate for a few minutes then the security lady told us to go in to the pit. She then was really excited. They ended the main part of the show with Two Step and after the concluded the song Carter came out to give out sticks. As he walked towards our side of the stage he saw Charlotte and stopped dead in his tracks and motion for me to bring her to the edge of stage. I lifted her up on the speakers and he handed her a used set of sticks! It was one of the best DMB experiences we've had. The guys are great!

Top 5 show for me. The ups were obvious (GIG opener, BOWA, crush>>two step, and the encore) as were the lows (mercy>>oomh, can't stop). Otherwise, Boyd was on fire and I really had very few complaints.

Out of 3 DMB shows (all at this venue) they sounded the greatest and most spot on here in 2012. Granted, I'm only 19 and the first time I saw them Coffin had only been touring with them for a short time.. Hope they come back to Virginia soon. Only thing missing from this show was the reprise from Lie In Our Graves.. Can't really complain though.

5 stars

While I'm not as down on Bristow as many seem to be, this was unquestionably the superior VA show this weekend. This is my second time to VA Beach, and I like the venue, somewhat reminiscent of DTE in MI. The weather was perfect for the show, right around the mid-70s with a nice breeze. Gary Clarke Jr. was an excellent opening act, and it was very cool to see him come out during Can't Stop. My first BOWA and Halloween in nearly 7 years were real nice surprises. OOMH sounded different than the '05 version, and I didn't mind hearing that brought back at all. Even with Halloween coming out, I have to say that the ridiculous Carter drum solo during Two Step was the real highlight of the night for me, it felt like a 10-minute solo, just kept going and going! It was a pretty mellow show for the most part, and a very laid back crowd (at least in sec. 101). All-in-all another solid DMB show.

Best show I've ever been too. Like someone said earlier.... one big classic after another. Yes the LIOG gave me blue balls, but the two step/time bomb combo made up for it I think. Amazing sound quality and great lawn seats.... second row in the preferred warehouse seating. i'll be looking forward to a surprise fall tour in Charlottesville JPJ...??

Rockin' show, makes up for Saturday at Bristow--they must have read the reviews here :-), but Virginia Beach is always a solid show. Two Step was one of the best I've seen. Would like to have seen Gary Clark Jr guest on another song or two, but still can't complain!

Amazing Show! Started out with a mellow set list which frightened me but DMB continuously got more upbeat over the course of the night. I loved hearing LIOG, Time-bomb>>>Two Step was incredible and Halloween>>>Tripping Billies. I was shouting Halloween from the front center row of the lawn the whole night... they must have heard me!

Showed why they are the greatest ensemble of musicians in the modern music. Great opener with Grace is Gone. Eh Hee had awesome energy, showing why its back in heavy rotation. The Big Eyed Fiseh into Bartender is my favorite duo, and Bartender was absolutely amazing. As much as I miss Leroi, Jeff blew me away again on piccolo. One of the best performances of Bartender to date. Stay or Leave and Best of What's Around were excellent surprises. BOWA has always been underplayed for my taste. Crash was good as always. Absolutely beautiful version of Lie in Our Graves... BUT THEY DIDN'T FINISH!!! Last concert I went to in C'ville 2010 night 1 they didn't finish either. Why I Am was high energy as always, gotta love Carter on that one. Where are you Going was another sweet surprise, and was nice going with Grey Street. Mercy is going to be a new favorite, very pretty song. Out of my Hands was a complete shock. Didn't like Can't Stop until I saw it here. Crush was steady as always. Best version of Two Step I've ever heard. Awesome Time Bomb intro, great Carter solo, a true epic. I wouldn't want the encore to have been any different. A haunting version of Halloween, Dave sang incredible and with a scary edge. The last minute of it, Dave teased the Nature intro to Tripping Billies for 5 second intervals which made sent this encore over the edge. The last song was my personal favorite for 10 years, Tripping Billies. If there are better versions of Bartender and Two Step out there, please show me.
