Too much "Away from the World" for my liking. I like me some old-school DMB & hope that they find some of their older gems in the shows to come. Went to this show with a pretty large group & everyone seemed somewhat disinterested in the set as a whole. Weird vibe tonight. This was the 2nd indoor venue I've seen them, I just think outdoors is where these fellas need to be!

I think the most disappointing thing about this show was the Chicago crowd. A real lack of energy in the building. Dave was sick (and of course forgot some lyrics), but all-in-all it was a nice lineup. I think the Winter Tour is always a bit more mellow than the summer ... some people apparently struggled with that.

Overall, the show felt flat and the setlist was poor. Only 3 songs from the Big Three. Three Big Whiskey songs plus Cornbread, Die Trying, Gravedigger, and Out of My Hands did not make for a great set. Highlights include the new songs: Snow Outside and Drunken Sailor are great additions to the rotation, Belly Belly Nice works well in the encore, and Rooftop sounds good live.

First off, always a great time. Good set, bad set, voice, or no voice, I am always glad to go to a show.

Dave's voice was cooked to the point where everything was extended to not sing and song selection was definitely impacted. The best thing about this show was the extended piano solo.

If I flew in for this show and dropped big money, I would have been extremely disappointed. For me, this show ranks in the bottom 10, but I will take a single not so good show here for crazy awesome sets at Alpine any day.

Alright, here it goes. Despite gridlocked Chicago traffic, longtime concert associate pj4real29, and I made it down to Madison St. in Chicago. We parked in what I think must have been a hobo graveyard - only the finest in Chicago. The attendant told us to take PJ's fancy shirt out of the back seat because he was probably going to try to steal it later. We went to the old Billy Goat Tavern for some food. PJ got a free cheeseborgee. Nice place, too bad there was Chicago sports team propaganda all over the walls. Oh, and some homeless fellow tried to sell PJ some mushrooms. He must have been confused. Who puts mushrooms on a burger? We told him that the pizza place was two blocks down and to try there. We checked on the car on the way in to make sure that no hobos had risen from the grave to try to steal our stuff. Some guy also gave us a free ticket. The show? Started pretty slow. Duds a plenty. You name it: Cornbread, Die Trying, Everyday, Mercy, Out of My Hands (although the piano intro was cool), and Gravedigger. Set highlights included the new songs like Soldier, Snow Outside, Riff, Belly Nice, and even Shake Me and Xmas Song. Everything was going fine towards the end until the Pink Floyd lazer light showed hit me in the eyes and detached my retinas, temporarily blinding me. When we realized we were going to get snubbed on Halloween again (23 times and counting) we got out of there. Beat the rush. And what could cap this perfect evening. A T Bell stop, that's what. Bring on the Chalupas! Then BORF! PJ blew chunks all over the car. (not really, I just put that in there for comic effect). At least the ticket was fancy. Regrets go to Brad who had trouble using the public transit system after living 6 years in Chicago and to Steve who wouldn't text back because he KNEW he ran... every time.

I came to this show thinking it was going to be terrible! I even tried selling my tickets after being denied to GA floor like the rest of us warehouse members; however, I was wrong! It was a solid show, a good crowd, and the band was on fire... I don't understand why all these people thought the show sucked. you wanna talk about a bad show, you should have been at Maryland Heights!! I agree the set list wasn't "strong," but the band killed some of those overplayed songs. I loved the energy, maybe that's because I was denied GA floor and ended up with all the other warehouse members that got shafted. I had a blast, it was much better than I expected, and I would do it all over again.... plus I meet boyd and Brian Urlacher earlier that day :)

Good time. Good show. Went with a group of buddies and took a limo back to our hotel following the show. We lost two of my buddies somewhere on the streets of Chicago and we were all a phucked up mess ;-D The stage is too much, but it is cool how they slowly work it all in. Ants rocked and it was good too see some of the new songs and they just never seem to really disappoint. The ticket prices are getting to high, but thats always gonna be a complaint. Until the next time…...

Probably the best indoor show that I have seen. It\'s wasn\'t Alpine but not much else compares to Alpine. We sat in a Warehouse section so everyone was into it and having fun. Dave\'s voice was a bit rough which showed up on the big high notes. Real obvious on Grey Street. Still, he was a trouper and was fun. I was not at all upset to hear so many new songs. It\'s a new album and the songs need to be road tested and worked. A few years from now many won\'t be played or rarely. What was played were close the the album but you could hear them developing. Boyd\'s playing at the beginning of Ants was sweet. Where did that come from? The band really looked to be having fun while playing it. Can\'t wait for the next time.

Trying to stay off the Haterade, but this was far from one of my favorite shows. Poor seats likely played a big hand in it. Aside from Belly Belly Nice, there isn't much on Away from the World that brings a ton of energy live. You Might Die Trying is a WEAK start in my opinion, had to swallow hard on that one. Dave royally killed the beginning of Shake Me Like A Monkey, so that was a deep cut as well. I still struggle hearing leaving the night on a cover song too, they have made Watchtower their own in many ways, but it's undeniably a cover. In the end though, no better way to spend a Wednesday night then with DMB at the United Center.

This was a decent (not stellar by any means) show, and my first indoor show since the Vote For Change Tour. Was a good mix of AFTW and all the other albums. I was on the floor next to the guys starting the Hani Hani on the outro of Mercy...was actually pretty moving to see so many new young fans getting into it. Watchtower is probably my least favorite closer, but other than that the show was pretty solid overall. Snow Outside and Drunken Soldier (destined to be one of my favorites once I get the obvious Pink Floyd comparisons out of my head) were great to hear live. I used Crush to get off the floor for a bathroom/smoke break. Although the energy was high with You Might Die Trying, not sure I totally felt it as the opener. Mercy>Improv>Out Of My Hands was a great section, but seemed to slow the energy with most of the crowd. Just seemed that Dave\'s throat issues and the setlist combined to make it a little bit of a lackluster show, but still any Dave show is better than NO show....

My 23rd show...what the heck happened? Dave's voice, annoying idiots and thier glow sticks...not a single song pre 2003 until Grey Street 7 or 8 songs in?

I know it was an album tour, and I think my expectations were set way too high due to the epicness that is Alpine Valley - but c'mon... 3 songs off the Big 3 - WWYS, Crush, and Ants Marching. Drunken Soldier was money, but can't wait for summer!

Wasn't thrilled by the start of YMDT, SpaceBread. YMDT sounds great, just not my favorite as an opener. Drunken Soldier was very good, sounded just like the album hope they can do more with the jam in the future. Grey Street and Crush were awesome, Rooftop was good that song is growing on me. Snow Outside was my favorite new song in the live setting they jammed the hell out of it. Nice Ants set closer, which I called. It was unique to hear Christmas Song, and Watchtower was great. A number of songs in there I wasn\'t thrilled with like Out of My Hands, Gravedigger, You and Me (seen both of those way too much). Dave\'s voice was not the best, he said he \"had a dinosaur\" in his throat. Compared to some of the great shows I have seen this was probably towards the bottom, but still a great time as always and some good highlights in there. So annoyed to see how much everyone is talking during the slower songs that they may not know. Also, the glow sticks have gotta go, why do idiots throw them on stage? If you want to go drink and talk while not enjoying the music, go to a bar, it's cheaper.

Solid show for #28. Always good to see them in Chicago. Dave's voice struggled and he messed up a bit during Crush and SMLAM. Dude is only human, we got a good laugh. Guy was a dancing fool tonight!! Didn't play as much new stuff as I thought they would, which is fine since it's taking me a while to warm up to the new album, but it does sound good live. Look forward to rocking out with you all again at Alpine '13!!

What a great night. Who cares what they play? It's a DMB show! They play what they want. They love Chicago and started out with lots of energy. I could do without Watchtower at the end but it didn't affect the overall experience. On to Cville, Brooklyn and Philly!

The only true highlight of the night was Boyd's intro to Ants with Carter. That was fantastic. Otherwise, out of 52 shows, this is BY FAR the worst show I've ever seen. Horrible song selection, horrible setlist flow, horrible voice on Dave. There weren't two fast paced songs played back-to-back all night. The song selection was so bad that by the time they played most of the songs I actually wanted to hear (AFTW), I was so bored that I didn't even care anymore. And while I love AFTW, those songs didn't exactly help the already abysmally slow-paced selection of other songs. It's the only time I've ever regretted going to a DMB show. Just awful.

Great show with a very strong mix of songs from new to old. In the first quarter, we were afraid there weren't going to be many new songs, but they played 6 new songs. The jam going out of Snow Outside was fantastic. Drunken Soldier is going to grow into something epic. So much power. The crowd started singing Everyday/36 in the outro of Mercy, which the guys really dug and Cater and Rashawn sang along with us. I don't normally like Ants Marching any more, but that was one of the best performances I've seen/heard. Boyd was in rare form as well, playing some truly great solos. Rashawn is a beast. If you'd told me 15 years ago that a trumpet player would be in the band playing some amazing jazz solos, I would have said you are crazy, but Rashawn has turned into a favorite. The only "not-so-stellar" moments usually had to do with Dave's voice being worn out. He said at the top of the show that he had "a dinosaur in his throat." By the end, he was struggling, but the fantastic crowd made up for it. Overall, one of the best concerts I've seen. Love the new stuff.

I really can't believe all the negative reviews???? Was the show EPIC? No, but not every show is. Probably show # 80ish and this was just a solid show with Dave having a hard time with his voice. Higlights were the new songs, Drunken Solider, Snow Outside & Rooftop...WOW! My only complaint was Piano solo>>>OOMH... that needs to go. YMDT - to many naysayers, that song rocked, the outro was great. All this show did for me was make me more anixous for summer dates!

Hung out by Fenton during the show. The early jams were pretty good but Dave seemed a bit off at times - especially during 'Out of My Hands' when he couldn't seem to remember the song and 'Shake Me Like A Monkey' when he couldn't find the groove in the beginning. There was some group in the crowd though that bought hundreds of glow sticks and kept tossing them in mass - that was pretty cool. There was also a pretty funny moment when Dave put on a pair of sunglasses that had been tossed on stage while he was dancing and then he tossed them back to the crowd. Overall, I gave the show a 3 because it was cool to hear some of the new tunes but I had hoped for something a bit more special.

OK - I have to admit - I AM SO DAMN SPOILED!!! Alpine cannot be topped. Given that - DMB continues to be SUCH a tight band. Tim - an animal!!! Skinny Rashawn and Jeff - sick!!! The sound was way too off inside the cavern that is the United Center. Really had a hard time hearing Jeff and Boyd unless they were the only ones playing. Setlist - a typical show after the release of a new album. EVERYONE had to know a TON of new songs were going to be played. The only bad thing about this is that it takes the band a year to figure out how to play a new song live. Also - none of my favorite favorite live songs (Jimi, 41, Nancies, Warehouse, Seek Up), but that's ok - change is good!!! Kudos to Drunken Soldier and the Pink Floyd love in this song. You Might Die Trying - I LOVE this as an opener. What Would You Say - a nice oldie. Ending with Watchtower - I'll take this every day (no pun intended!!!). Surprise of the night - Crush. HOT HOT HOT!!! GREAT jam - Boyd and Tim strutting their stuff!!! Once again - not the greatest show but it was still a Dave show and I got to see Dave perform again!!! I'll take that ANY DAY!!!

My 9th show, and to me the first that didn't feel *special*. That said, 7 of them were at Alpine with twice the crowd, and the other was Wriggley, so that's a hard group to contend to.

The energy level was good, and the show peaked with Ants Marching, but I was disappointed to not hear anything truly special or have any guests like the rest of the tour.

All together, it was worth coming out for, and more than anything I now understand how special it is to live less than an hour away from Apline Valley, as I know what kind of shows most of the rest of the country gets.
