After 38 shows, this was my first at Alpine and all I can say is HOLY SHIT!!! Venue was amazing and so damn big.. High energy in the parking lot tailgate. Watched show from near front of the right lawn. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire set with no legitimate complaints. I like Squrm as an opener - lets start howling early! Great to see OSW as its been a while. WTWE was fun and I think that everyone in my sight was "burning one" at the time. Other highlights were #41, Grace is Gone with SJ, Grey St, Recently, and Jane. However, the best run of the night was Stefan's bass intro with Let You Down > #34 to Watchtower and Halloween (repeat! - kind of bizarre). Also tickled pink that Sister got scrapped!! The jam at the end of 2 Step was awesome and seemed totally improved, but I've seen the Time Bomb combo too many times. All in all, the show and Alpine Valley exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be back!

Got to the Valley of Alpine nice and early to tailgate. Did a DMB power hour. Here\'s where things to a most unappealing turn. Brad was pretty drunk but did some honey whiskey shots for the power hour. He took about six and then became an unwelcome guest at the tailgate next door. The rest of us continued to enjoy our own tailgate to the tune of Paul\'s Boutique. I also learned that my brother is sexually active, so that\'s a plus for him.. Brad got a sticker planted on the back of him unknowingly, so that was good for a few laughs. Anyway, we made it into the show. Bill was wasted and suggested some mutual touching and I took a few steps away. People were falling down the stairs left and right. Recently, Halloween and the covers were great to hear. There were good songs and bad songs. Who is Stan Jordan? if i wanted to see a goof ass haircut, dangly dream catcher earrings and a scoop neck shirt, i would have gone to the Cure concert. Bill and Brad could not stand by the end of the night. Loved the 34 tease by Stefan. After 24 shows I finally heard Halloween. Hopefully each bad member will forget how to play Dreamgirl this winter. Someone cuffed on bill n the party bus and you could see the bed bugs at my friends hotel. Hope they enjoyed that. Brewer game the next day completed the weekend. Couldn\'t top last years set. See you next year!

This show is why I love Alpine Valley. Energy was awesome, the whole band was spot on tonight. Halloween 2 nights in a row was an unexpected treat, but the bigger treat was Carter's breakdown in an excellent version of Two Step in the encore. I've been to 20+ shows at Alpine Valley, and this ranks right up there.

Good show but I actually like N1 more. Two years in a row with two nights of Stanley Jordan. He single handedly had the energy sucked out of the crowd and everyone sitting down. I can appreciate the talent but he does not fit. Hopefully we do not see him guest again. Halloween is great but 2 nights in a row is a bit of a let down. #41, 2step were awesome. Nice tease on #34, thought we were going there. Two awesome nights, nobody does Alpine better than DMB.

This was my second of the two Dave Matthews Band shows at Alpine and the mid-point of a very fun weekend. The usual group of friends that I go with to DMB shows were all off at weddings, work or God-knows-what, but it was cool to have the whole Alpine Valley experience with longtime friends Dave (not Matthews) and Mike as well as some of their friends. Anyway, our tailgate at Alpine Valley was kicked off with a Dave Matthews Band power hour and a cookout. This was the second night in a row we were having too much in the lot and never made it in to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Oh well. Mike, myself and some of his friends had G.A. seats on the lawn and Dave (still not Matthews) took his place at the seats like some sort of a bigshot. 'Squirm' as an opener was awesome and '#41' is always good to hear live. The show I thought really got kicked into high-gear when they played a cover of the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cover 'Runnin' Down a Dream'. "'Next is Jimi Thing'. Calling it right now" I said after the Petty cover and Mike said "No chance in hell." Next was 'Jimi Thing'. So I'll have that over him from now on, which is nice. 'Grey Street' is one of my favorite Dave Matthews Band song and it was hard to see but they did bring out someone before they started the song. Wish that would have been a little clearer, as it seemed like a special moment. I figured they would play either 'All Along the Watchtower' or 'Two Step' but I never saw the 'Halloween' break-in like the night before. I thought I would never hear that song and now I've heard it twice. Keep 'em coming from now on! I thought the 'Two Step' they played to close the show was one of the best I've heard. All in all, a really good show.

Good show, definitely not great! For 2012 standards, it would've been a very good show, but for how the rest of 2013 had been going, it was quite disappointing, especially for a N2 @ Alpine! I probably went into the weekend with too high of expectations, and I think Halloween for the second night in a row to close the set gave me an uneven feel for it. Plus I hate the "Time Bomb" intro into Two Step, especially after a full Time Bomb in the E2 spot!

Highlights were Squirm, When The World Ends, Runnin Down A Dream, Grace Is Gone, and the #34 tease. Good closer in the encore with Time Bomb & Two Step. Felt the Halloween closer was a bit lazy and forced after a lackluster main set that I felt lacked the n1 energy and was long on instrumentals with not enough high-energy songs mixed in. To me, it felt like he just played Halloween to make up for it and do something rare to give the n1 fans something to feel good about. Had it been my 1st or 2nd Halloween I might appreciate it more but as it stands it was my 5th and I don't "need" it to make or break the weekend.

Probably one of my favorite set lists, we gor a Petty cover, a Denver cover, one sweet world, grace is gone, and a second straight night of Halloween, and the Two Step at the end, I doubt any other venue will get a comparable two step, I thought ,deer creeks was good, but the crowd controlled this one...Still Blown Away!

My 38th show overall and 15th at Alpine. This is the first year that N2 did not top N1 - I think they were about equal. Both terrific shows of course. Highlights were #41, Grace is Gone and Two Step. It seams like each summer Two Step keeps growing into more of a Carter 'go bananas' song. Fun to see. I was near the top of the hill and have never seen so much smoke emulating from the pavillion like I did on Saturday. My buddy kept saying it was from the smoke machines on stage - yea right! Halloween was awesome of course, yet confusing at the same time. Two times in two nights...still trying to figure that one out.

Dave was in a rare mood tonight with long breaks of just goofing off with the guys between songs to start, but the energy never seemed to die tonight...except for when Stanley Jordan came out. His jam killed the energy for the second straight night. I just don't get why they keep trying to force him into these shows. There was a lot more jamming tonight and it felt more like a Dave concert than N1. I am a little over Halloween and it didn't bring the same reaction as it did in N1. The encore was predictable (except Dreamgirl). I was just glad they didn't play Thank You. And to all the idiots singing Thank You during the jam on Jimi, you missed one of the best jams of the night.

Better than N1, but thats not saying much. People don't travel all that way to hear repeats. Squirm needs to be removed from the opener list, if not the show list all together.

One sweet world was great, as was running down a dream. Grace --> Grey --> Recently --> Song that jane likes was a great run of songs. Doesnt make up for the repeat though.

Dreamgirl deserves it's own line. Loved hearing that song.

Hate my review if you want. If you've been travling to alpine for the last 4+ years you know this was a mediocre weekend, setlist wise, at best.

52 shows and counting. I have no doubt I will be back next year. This weekend just didnt blow me away.

Got off to a slow start with Squirm, but then saw OSW which is always one of my favorite. Rooftop was sounding good and #41 was as great as always. I'm really sick of Gravedigger, Cornbread and You & Me. Running Down sounded great, and the run from the Stanley/Tim jam through Jane was really strong. Watchtower seemed like the set closer, but watch out, Halloween for a 2nd straight night! Also we got a #34 tease, was really hoping they would play it. The encore started and everyone around us anticipated Two Step had to close it out, and they were right. First, we had to endure an awful combo of Dreamgirl and Time Bomb, which I named "DreamBomb". It was more like a dream nightmare there, because I thought they may end the show there. But the Two Step was scintillating and worth the wait. The jam at the end was really cool too, it seemed like they were actually going to go into a new song because the final 2 minutes was this jam I hadn't heard them do before. I give it a 3.5, round up to 4 on here.

All in all, a definite improvement from night 1. Both 2012 Alpine shows were unreal and most likely gave me unrealistic expectations for this weekend. Alpine always delivers a good time. This was certainly not the best I've seen, but still a great time. I think we've all seen enough of Stanley Jordan now. His crazy jams with Tim were interesting, but a bit out of place. I came to see Tim shred the guitar, not to see this flamboyant guy noodle for 10 mins.

Not as much high energy as N1 but still strong throughout but first off: WATCHTOWER INTO HALLOWEEN!!!!! Let's ignore the fact that was two nights in a row of Halloween but from Watchtower is a dream. The jam before grace is gone was beautiful to watch. Recently among many others were always a pleasure to hear. Two Step as always came off so powerful and raw especially at the end was epic. I was hoping to hear JTR considering how much it's been played this tour but another great night. This band is on fire this tour. Anyone reading this better make it to at least one show this summer if you are a fan.

Solid Show... perspective is everything, for me it was one of my best (out of 27) b/c I was 7 people back dead center stage in the Pit. Very cool to see the band interact and play off of each other. But, I will be back in seats next year the pit is a hot and a lot of work... I guess I am someone who likes a bit of space or just getting old. The \"big\" songs were epic as usual but I thought Grave Digger, BOWA and When the World End where solid versions. Rooftop was the only AFTW song, one of the best but big surprise not to hear more... finally, I was happy to see Running Down a Dream, that will be a one time song for me (most likely) and they put a ton of energy into that one. Finally, it time to stop the \"THANK YOUS\" at Alpine... Dave killed the chant starting on Jimmy (loved it), sexy MF is the better mash up.

Runnin Down a Dream was the best! My highlight of the entire show. Again, band was on fire tonight, Alpine just brings out the best in this band. I enjoyed the setlist better from N1, but both shows were amazing. N2 Halloween did not have as much energy as N1, since the crowd seemed very surprised by the double play of this song. Glad to see Sister was replaced by Dreamgirl on the original setlist, and Why I am was added instead of What Would You Say. The Let You Down tease by Fonz was so short, most people missed it. Was only a few chords before #34 started. Hardly long enough to call it a tease, but I noticed it :) Show #87 for me, and a great one. But N1 was still better.

This set was a 3-hour MONSTER. Considering the boys have 10 studio albums out, fans should realize by now that they're going to get a pretty good mix of new and old. Hell, if I could only see shows consisting of songs from UTTAD, Crash & BTCS I would be elated. But that just isn't going to happen. Crowd/band energy was some of the best I've seen at Alpine for N2. Loved Grace is Gone and The Tom Petty cover was spot on. The Watchtower > Halloween was cool even though we got Halloween the previous night. Could have done without the Dreamgirl encore opener, but I thought the Timebomb > Two Step was a perfect end to a perfect weekend.

Expectations at Alpine are always high, and especially after last nights show.. But the boys came thru. Amazing show. Set list was strong, but most importantly, the band was just rocking it. Highlights for me.. Why I am.. Strong. Crowd cheers for Grux, running down a dream - performed better than Petty, fonz\'s opening to Grace is Gone, Stanley Jordan playing with Timmy (gave him a much better vehicle tonight, loved SJ and my friend got to meet him after he played - he was actually out in the sound board area at Alpine and she literally bumped into him!!), grey Street- so powerful. Then Watchtower - always a Fave and wham! Right into Halloween! Double Halloween!! I don\'t think that has ever happened before, two nights in a row. Ever. Epic! Finally, the two step closer.. I\'ve seen two step so many times I\'ve lost track. This one was special. Extended Carter solo, the energy, and the outro. Just awesome. I\'ve seen 80 shows.. This one was up there.. Thanks guys!

You DMB fans (especially TDC) really do confuse me with all the hating on this show. Your expectations are ridiculously high for this band. They straight brought it; the energy and a great setlist. From where I was in the lawn and not surrounded by a bunch of elitist fans in their $90 pavilion seats everyone was digging the set. I know we've been spoiled by this band as of late but really please try to enjoy a great show when it happens; we would have eaten a set Dave knows his new album is no Big Whiskey so he's not going to try to overplay the album like he did in 2005 with Stand Up. People bitch about 3 covers? No true DMB fan can really complain about Watchtower much less the Stefan bass Let You Down and #34 teases; Stefan always does up the Watchtower intro for the Alpine crowd (remember Stir It Up in 02?). Then into Halloween for a second night?? Total shocker but again it's hard to complain about the energy Halloween brings to close out a show. Take Me to Tomorrow straight up rocks and I can't wait to see them develop this cover. And we love our Tom Petty in Wisconsin; he comes to Summerfest practically on an annual basis. Okay cover, but I'll take it over a lot of other songs. And 3 songs from Remember Two Things??? Dave doesn't do that for just anyone these days; last set with 3 RTT songs was SPAC night 2 which you guys loved. Alpine got its first full Recently and the last Recently I have seen since my first DMB show at Summerfest in 99. The Tim & Stanley Jordan blues jam before Grace is Gone was really tight even if the crowd was confused and didn't know who this jazz guitar legend was. Grace is Gone is one of my favorite DMB songs and it was great to get a jammed out tour debut at Alpine. Grey St is another favorite, no complaints there. And Squirm and Cornbread were both solid and are always good to see. When I saw them switch out the guitar they initially brought out for Dave for the encore I thought we were going to get something special, but needless to say the first two encore songs were a bit of a let down. But Dreamgirl was a lot more tolerable being short and sweet and not a dragged out 13 minute version of the past. I was just hoping they were not going to cave into certain people in the crowd and close the encore with Thank You and I think overall everyone was excited when Boyd started strumming those notes for Two Step. Great rocking version with a nice little Carter drum solo and multiple fake out endings where they went back into another jam. Overall a great show with great energy from the band and I bet fans out west are excited for a potential return of #34 and Let You Down to the Gorge if those Alpine teases are any indication. Show #18 for me and 14 at Alpine and I had a blast. Dave didn't let me down.

Average show. Weak encore. Alpine doesn't hold a flame to the gorge apparently. Still an average dmb show kills all other bands

Left a little disappointed after such high expectations going in due to what had been played previously on tour. OSW, 41, Recently, Jane, and Two Steps were my highlights. The show just fell short due to poor flow and some questionable song selections. Still had an amazing weekend at Alpine!

Odd set flow with this one but the #34 tease into Watchtower and then into Halloween to close for the 2nd straight night was amazing.
