if your username is reflective of your heritage, do you have plans on visiting any concentration camps?

Obviously, Auschwitz is the most famous in Poland, but I'd be interested in hearing your take on Majdanek or Stutthof if you got to visit those.

Re: Poland

Ill definitely be going to Auschwitz since I know its very close to Krakow...The others one maybe, all depends on if I have time. Auschwitz is going to be pretty intense, even just going to the holocaust museums can be tough, I cant imagine what going to the actual camp will be like. As a Jew its pretty much my obligation to see it though.

Since Poland is fairly large (roughly the size of New Mexico) I wonder how easy it is to move around from town to town.

I assume there are trains like most European countries but I am unsure...The program I am in does offer some trips to certain places in Poland like Gdansk up on the Baltic sea and the salt mines, which are apparently pretty cool. I do want to do some traveling on my own though.

One of my best friends is Polish, and just got back from spending a couple of months there. If you have any specific question I can pass those along for ya.

Re: Poland

Thanks, I dont really have too many specific questions. Mostly just about what there is to do in Krakow, how easy it is to travel around etc.

If you take the submarine tour, don't be tricked into opening the screen door. It's a trap.

But we do have a Pole on the site (a few actually). Maybe they'll see this and tell you all about the land that Germany loves taking over.

They got a solar-powered flashlight factory that's not to be missed.

I heard there is a lot of power outages in the malls and airports, make sure you don't get stuck on the escalators.

:lol

"There would never be an 'escalator temporarily out of order' sign. Only an 'escalator temporarily stairs' sign.... 'sorry for the convenience.' "

One of my friends is mostly Polish, and he worships the Germans. He used to have German flag stickers on both of his back passenger side windows.

The kid has some major issues.

Wow.

That's like being French and worshipping the English, or the Italians....or the Germans.....or anyone really.

Try not to think too hard...

Also, remember if one throws a pin at you... Run. He's holding the grenade.

And if you ever see a one-armed polock in a tree... wave at him. It'll get him out.

Re: Poland

What's green and flies over Poland?

Peter Panski

Why do the Polish end their names in 'ski?'

They can't spell toboggan.

Isn't this the kind of research you should have done before picking where you wanted to go?

I want to study abroad before I graduate and I cant during the year. This was pretty much the only summer program that works for me. Ive heard good things about the city and all, I'm just looking to see what some other people have to say
