Re: The MLB Thread

i was looking at giancarlo stanton's numbers and holy shit. he wont turn 28 until after the season and he already has 250+ home runs in 8 seasons. they're not even full seasons either. he's only averaged like 120 games per year, so he's only played in less than 6 full seasons worth of games so far and already has that many HRs. baseball-reference has him averaging 43 HRs in a 162 game season. if he can stay healthy, and thats a big if looking at this games played totals, and can keep up the power, he could be closing in on 500 by the time he's 33 or 34.

he would still have to play until he's 39 and keep up those numbers of 43 per year to pass bonds, which is insane. he needs to drop some 60+ HR seasons the next few years to have a legit shot at 700+ unless he can pull a hank aaron and play until he's 42. aaron and stanton both started playing at 20. through his age-27 season, aaron had 253 HRs. stanton is at 251 as of today with a month and a half left in his age-27 season. stanton just needs to stay healthy and he can end up on some very, very short all-time lists.
