Re: The Ship

I play the market every day. PepsiCo isn't a bad stock. It's grown this year. You've probably made $750.

Pepsi is a great long-term stock. I just have it setup to keep buying more shares.

It's not easy being a member of the ship. Ya gotta like poop jokes and ripping on Mississippi.

Also, to get along with Craig, you most likely have to be handicapped in some way. That's his jam.

Ok, do I invite a girl I'm seeing a little bit to Thanksgiving that I am hosting for my family because she has no where else to go with her kids? (Her parents are on vacation, her younger brother just had surgery and older brother lives away and works the holidays)

No. Absolutely not. Way too serious of a commitment to toss at your kids.

We have hosted Thanksgiving at our house for longer than the kids have been around. This will be the first time without my ex here. We have regularly invited other friends and coworkers who did not have places to go, so that part wouldn't be too different. This girl has kids, and on my side of the family there are no cousins for them to play with, so from that standpoint they will be thrilled. I don't care if they tell my ex, she is not owed any explanation from me. And it's not like I would be making out with this girl during the day to confuse them.

I agree with Laura. If your Thanksgiving is regularly filled with friends, coworkers, and other folks then I think it's fine. If not, then I agree with Rick's initial response that celebrating Thanksgiving together is too big of a deal early on.

None of the above. It's much more complicated than any of those subjects. Steve will walk ya through it.

    The question preceeds your time.

There have been a number of people through the years, so it wouldn't be abnormal. This one has kids, and it is the first one without Mom, so it will be different for when they tell their mother, but I don't think they would think twice about it.

Ha! I backread after reading Rick's response so I was prepared for THE question. Other than the current discussion of the day, I had only ever read the first page of the Ship. Oh how much I missed by not clicking through to page 3. 43 pages later... time well spent but I need to start working on a Thanksgiving dinner shopping list.

To answer the question, no. Add me to team NALAOAM.

I wouldn't worry too much about your ex. I get what you mean about different, but for me, the concern would be what everyone would be thinking about the relationship. You don't want the kids to get attached and then you break things off. But if this is just another mouth at the table (which is your tradition) and a, "Hey kids, meet Jill and her kids. She works in accounting and she brought pie!" Then I think it's fine.

It gets so much better. 43 pages in is childs play. Wait until Laura comes in and starts slaursing it up in here. Or when Doug and Lindz meet.
