Gunning for equality? Sounds reasonable to me.

I am unaware of what AMA means, are you in favor of actual wars (shooting ones) or ones fought in the media and by politicians with some axe to grind. Genuinely curious.

There's not much grey area here, it's pretty black or white. Under the "These federal and D.C. employees may not:" piece of the law, "engage in political activity while: on duty" is noted; where "These...employees" applies to Executive Branch workers (non-POTUS/VP). I interpreted her appearances to be as Counselor to the President, meaning it was in an official capacity.

The political activity is pretty clear, she advocated voting for Roy Moore. The question is whether she was acting in her role in the Executive Branch. I think she was.

It is a similar scenario to the one where Dem Julian Castro (HUD Sec at the time) spoke about HRC's odds of winning

And the source of this is no media or political hackery. This is normal to have OSC investigate ethics issues (as noted with the Castro example). The complaint was filed by Walter Shaub, who was the most recent Director of the US Office of Government Ethics. He joined the the ethics office in 2006, became the deputy General Counsel in 2008, and was appointed director of the office in 2013.

I judge people on who they are and what they do and say, their demographics do not concern me at all. As for the 'get out' part, I have never used that argument (unless someone who threatened to leave if candidate X won and never left) because I much prefer a meaningful debate where both sides are presented civilly and people cite their facts.

Gray equals BS IMO - if a member of the executive branch is not allowed to answer questions from the media we have a giant problem. They should be free to express their opinions unless of course people want virtually everyone in that branch silenced in favor of some statements by a press secretary.

Good for you. And not in a condescending way. That is genuinely good. But, the discussion was about conservative white males who feel themselves under attack because historically marginalized populations in America are making strides in equality. Feeling threatened because some group of 'other' is inching towards an equal playing field with you is not healthy behavior, but unfortunately these types of folks have their feelings reinforced by a right wing echo chamber that congratulates them on their bravery and highlights their supposed victimhood to a national audience.

Wow, the whole sanctuary state concept is in serious trouble if a CA judge just said the federal government did not have to pay until the matter was properly settled.

    Quote:
The Trump administration will not immediately have to award California a grant being withheld over concerns the state is a sanctuary for people in the country illegally, a federal judge said Monday.

The amount of money at issue – $1 million – was relatively small and was at this point only delayed, not denied, U.S. District Judge William Orrick said. While he rejected the state’s request for a preliminary injunction to turn over the money, he also rejected a request by the U.S. Department of Justice to dismiss California’s lawsuit.

The judge said the suit raised “weighty and novel constitutional issues” that would benefit from additional argument.
    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...tent=newsalert

Additionally in the courts a federal judge ruled that trump has the power to end DACA at his pleasure.

    Quote:
"This decision took control of a pell-mell situation and provided Congress — the branch of government charged with determining immigration policy — an opportunity to remedy it. Given the reasonable belief that DACA was unlawful, the decision to wind down DACA in an orderly manner was rational,"

Appreciate the kind words, thank you. I can occasionally get frustrated with certain things of this nature though, for example I am trying to find a new job, I attempted to apply for a nice one and had to fill out an online survey - I got 4 questions in before a pop up message stated they had no position that meets their qualifications (they did not even know if I was qualified or not at that point - the questions were - what is your first name, what is your last name, what is your skin color and what is your nationality. First and last names mean jack so the fact that I am a white American clearly made me unqualified - which is bullshit and I believe illegal. Yet I did not get on my high horse, claim victim status , whine to the equal opportunity employer people or do anything more than just question it in my head and wonder what on earth a company (United Technologies) was thinking by judging my fitness based on my citizenship and skin color.

I think this was the case last week as well. The judge states he could end new enrollments.

The larger legal battle is over currently enrolled "Dreamers" and whether or not they can be legally deported - thus having their status rescinded. The EO and program can be rescinded, which this ruling says, but (from what I can tell) neither this nor last week's court decision makes any indication that current Dreamers can be subject to deportation.

Doubt it would take me pages to secure such an easy win. This post also gets an L.

Well since DACA was enacted via an EO rather than legislation I have no idea how this one plays out. As far as the dreamers, if the order is rescinded they are living in the US illegally and absolutely subject to deportation, I do not agree with doing that but legally it could happen.

This post acknowledges your views on Affirmative Action, thus proving my point in the first post. Therefore, the post in which you gave me an L becomes a W for me and an L for yourself. And I just got word the refs are giving you 20 extra Ls for such a flagrant attempt to distort reality.

I expect to see your new record reflected in your sig by end of day, or you will receive 5 more penalty Ls.

I'm okay with it but yeah, she was like "ugh it's so tabloid" and then she kept kind of commenting on it while she was scraping around my teeth

I like that it's something making noise/something to listen to in the background, but yeah in the past when they've given me the remote I feel weird like channel surfing or looking for something to "watch".
