I’ve worked for Wegmans, Paychex, and JPMorgan Chase and none of them gave the day after Thanksgiving off.

I've worked for multiple Fortune 500, and they all gave that day off. I'm willing to wager that most Fortune 500 companies give that day off (non retail of course).

My company just removed the day after Thanksgiving and xmas Eve as holidays but they provided two additional floating holidays, so I'll just use the new floating holidays for those days.

Yeah, my company just started giving the day after Thanksgiving off as a 'holiday' in the last 4-5 years. I always took it off anyway and it comes out of my PTO pool so it's not really any different.

i worked in financial services for 8 years and had a pretty good list of paid holidays off, which was nice. definitely didnt get the day after thanksgiving off unless we requested it, but because the market's "open" that day we were required to have coverage, so not everyone could take it off. it's such a joke of a work day, usually left early

in my current state gov't position, we get these 11 paid holidays:
New Years Day
MLK Day
Presidents Day
Patriots Day (Thank you state of MA! )
Memorial Day
4th of July
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas

My school district when I was a kid in the suburbs of Cleveland got Rosh Hashanah amd Yom Kippuer off.

I would definitely trade the day after Thanksgiving to get MLK / President's Day / Columbus Day / Veteran's Day off. Although I do get enough PTO that I basically can take any day off I need to.

Just go into your Orders page on Amazon. For each item it'll list the estimated delivery date, and if you want to track it through the actual carrier, click the yellow "Track Pacakage" button, then click the tracking ID.

Yeah you do have to go through a few steps to see the full tracking info. Amazon sometimes waters that info down.

Actually, now that I think about it, you may have to copy/paste the tracking ID into the carrier's website if you don't want it filtered through Amazon.

That is bit annoying.


Personally, I'd still rather do that than get emails every time something ships, considering how many orders I place with them.

They should definitely have a preferences setting to opt in/out of tracking emails so you can cater to your own tastes.

I'm irritated at Amazon this morning.

I bought my son a kindle for Christmas - I bought it during their black friday deal of around $50 for the Fire HD 8 tablet. We obviously didn't begin using it until Christmas, so it's only 3 weeks old. It stopped taking a charge (and yes, it's not the charger (we tried it on a different kindle) or the outlet).

I called Amazon this morning. They can't just replace it b/c of the price I paid (vs. the $80 regular price). So I had to sit on hold for 30 minutes while they figured out how to replace it and the warranty (I paid the extra $18 for the warranty b/c it's for a 2 1/2 year old. He's going to crack the screen eventually).

So, 30 minutes later of "patiently waiting" (I did correct him that while I may have been waiting, it wasn't patiently), they had to refund the original price, call SquareTrade so they could refund the warranty, give me an Amazon gift card for the price difference of what it actually costs to replace and what I paid, give me an Amazon gift card for the cost of 1 day shipping and give me a $10 promotional credit for my time (I bit my tongue b/c I wanted to point out that while he may make $0.50 / day in the Philippines, my time is worth more than $10 for 30 minutes. But, I figured that'd be too mean ).

I mean, seriously - they couldn't just replace it? It really took 30 minutes to figure this out?

Been getting calls from an 800 number for a week or so, and I've been ignoring them. Today I decided to answer it so I could tell them to remove me from their list. Turned out to be Comcast wanting to upgrade my dvr to the X1 platform for free.

Fine! Great! But what kind of fucking tactic is that to call repeatedly from an unknown number, not leave messages, so I have no idea who it is that keeps bugging me?

Also after going through it for 10-15 minutes, I got an email with an "order review" I had to look at and it showed my bill increasing by $10 a month. I was like thought you said this wouldn't change my bill? Another 10 minutes on hold while he "fixed" it.
