I enjoyed the part where Cochran and F. Lee Bailey went to North Carolina.

Yes he plead the 5th when called back up after the taped. Even to that specific question because he was going to for any question. His lawyers probably told him NO MATTER WHAT you have to plead the 5th cause you already lied.

But I heard there is a book out there that says he is a great detective mind and he was a known racist (obviously) but had gotten help and changed yada yada. Probably bull crap (how would I know) but the fact that he wasn't fired if those ways were known, they shot themselves in the foot long before the case with the culture of the LAPD in the past.

No matter what, I think the defense could have brought up Furman's past, so I don't think this is on the prosecution as much as the collection of evidence.

Not a lawyer though so somebody feel free to jump in with knowledge.

Ito himself deserves some of the blame, he let things get way out of hand and go on far too long.

I think this show has been pretty good at showing it was death by 1,000 cuts for the prosecution. The gloves, Fuhrman, the length of the trial's impact on the jury, the racial makeup of the jury not favoring Clark the way she expected, not holding the trial in Santa Monica, et cetera, et cetera. They just lost and lost and lost.

At that point, Fuhrman was going to plead the 5th to every single question, which is why it was a genius move for Shapiro to have Cochran ask about planting the evidence.

btw, Nathan Lane has been a standout. He doesn't get many lines but he steals every single scene he's in

its amazing just how much material there is for a show like this, that they were able to skip things like OJ saying "I would never own those ugly ass shoes" and then the tabloids showing hundreds of pictures of him wearing them

that show was just great. Fx did a wonderful job with it. Not sure how they can top that case without the series just becoming a cable TV version of True Detective or Law and Order

The news broke in the afternoon. I remember coming home from school and hearing the verdict would be read the following morning.

As a white suburban kid, I was sure the short deliberation meant he was gonna be found guilty.
