only the tapers recording, not the offical release.

No. Because they are an offical release If you did, chances are someone would report you, and it wouldn't be a pretty sight in court.

hey guys I am confused, so nobody wants shows in mp3 format correct? if so what do you do if you have mp3 files. should I re-rip the cds into wav format? what would you suggest?

also how can you check the format of a show?

From what I have read it sounds as if a show is encoded to mp3 from some other format(shn) that isn't a problem, as it is then an "audio" format. but other things I have read indicate that I will be hunted down for trading mp3's I guess I need a little more clarification so I don't end up on the bad trader list. thanks.

Hey thanks, will check when I get home this evening(still in school) but the old man explained it to me as the cds being "audio" files, so when I ripped them I was encoding them to mp3(not good) see I was thinking that the mp3 was the same as the "audio" format. but I quess not! so as long as I rip to like wav format or something it would be fine.

NOOOOO!!! Never ever ever ever trade a show that was once an mp3. EVER!! If you want to trade this stuff you should get the shn/flacs again and trade those.

    2) When i convert files into iTunes i lose all the stuff like taper and txt files. from now on shud i keep those to go along with the music files on cds or are they not necessary?
Yes keep them. If you want to trade you need to have shn and all the files that come with it (md5/txt). Same with flac. Back them up to cd or dvd if you have a dvd drive.
    See the bold text.

I'd like to offer an occasional B&P, but my only shows so far are in audio format from other B&Ps. How do I get the audio files back into a format for trading?

    hey jack.

you can only offer an Audio BnP with the shows you have gotten so far. from now on, i would suggest getting shows in data files, then archiving the data files to either cd or DVD.

It's my understanding that audio disc copies are not acceptable for trading, so how do I rip the audio onto the harddrive for burning back to blanks?

if you have audio cd's made from an original lossless source, then it is ok to trade AS AUDIO, as long as you burn-disc-at-once.

you can use dbpoweramp to rip audio cds to wav files, if you want to do that.

Are you looking to download it or trade for it?

If its download try these helpful forums:
    Downloading tips and FAQ
    Bit Torrent Helper Thread

If you're looking for a b&p try the automated system. Or post and ISO (In Search Of) in this forum.

    B & P help

I am beginning a lossless collection of DMB/Dave and Tim. Since I have a slow connection, I am using the B and P (great job by the way!).
My question is: If I request a b and p and don't get a reply back from the offerer, is there anyway I can make another request during that same week?

I hope I don't sound rude because I really appreciate those who offer the shows!

    Peace, Vincent

there´s not really a restriction of how many requests you can do each week/day asking for a b+p apart from a "common sense" one. means you shouldn´t ask for to much at the same time if you don´t want to come across greedy or ungrateful....

i´m willing to help you out with a few shows. since you´re collecting lossless files i could burn a few to dvd and send them your way...?
have a look at my list and see if there´s something you might want:

and get back to me via email:
    gauloisesblondes.123@freenet.de

Hey, Joe, Mark, Dan, and Kristin, etc!

I want to thank all who have helped me with B&P. My lossless collection is starting to pick up (thirty shows at present). I totally dig DMB/D&T...I play 'em in my art classroom...my kids dig them too!

Some of the shows are so well recorded they sound commercial.

    Peace to you friends

    And many many thanks!!

thank you, joe, for the helpful "rules of the road" as it were! i traded gd shows many moons ago and want to build a library of dmb material beginning with all the shows i have attended that are available out here in the ether. i do have a question regarding requests for b&p transactions. where do i locate the area on the site that alerts me to the b&p's available? i want to respect the rules of the site and not be begging for shows and so on, but i can't seem to locate the pertinent area for this info. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks. richard

    Hi All,

Just went to the Sunday night show at Alpine making and I'm closing in on 50 shows now. Not sure if that's a lot for people on this site but I hope it's proves to all my new friends that I'm for real. I did a B&P 8 years ago and now all those shows are either missing a disc or two or are gone completely...Not sure how it happened but I'm guessing that it was when I moved. Anyhow, I'm looking to start up a new collection of shows so that I can get to trading with people. If there's anyone that wants to help me out, it would be greatly apprecated. I'm looking to get as many shows as physically possible in the first shot.

Thanks to anyone who might respond.

    Best Regards,

First, if you're familiar with bit torrent, you can check this site as wells as dreamingtree.org or tradersden.org for the shows you're looking for. If that doesn't work, just start a new thread in the trading central of this site with a title like: ISO: DMB 2007-08-20 and 1996-09-08.
Someone will hook you up with a B&P. If you're not familiar with the B&P process, there's a great FAQ on this site.

As to the show you already downloaded, what format is it in? Flac or Shn?
As to getting it working, are you talking about listening to it, burning it, converting it or what?

Feel free to PM me here, or email me at ExistenceNow@gmail.com for any further questions. I'd be glad to help you out in whatever way I can.

I would LOVE to have the Sep 8 & 9 2006, Shoreline Mountain View, CA shows!

For some reason I cannot request a B&P for those shows although it says they're available.

If anyone has those two shows please email me!

    Thanks : )

    Trading etiquette

What is the etiquette for asking when you will get your show returned to you? Is a month from the day you send your B&P discs to soon?

Also.....is it unheard of to ask or seek out a taper before a show that you will be attending and inquire about getting a B&P ?

What is the etiquette for asking when you will get your show returned to you? Is a month from the day you send your B&P discs to soon?

Also.....is it unheard of to ask or seek out a taper before a show that you will be attending and inquire about getting a B&P ?
