Fantasy Football 2017: Talk, Advice, & Start 'em, Sit 'em

Here we are again.

Current top 12 ppr adp:

David Johnson
LeVeon Bell
Zeke Elliott
Antonio Brown
Julio Jones
Odell Beckham
Mike Evans
LeSean McCoy
AJ Green
Melvin Gordon
Devonta Freeman
Jordy Nelson

Who are the busts at the adp? Who should be in the first? Howard, Hilton, Michael Thomas?

If you wanna do some $10 drafting, head on over to myfantasyleague.com and jump in some mfl10s. They'll be opening 50/50 leagues within the next week or so. Feel free to invite me to your league, if you create a private one. I'm @nvetta33 on the leaderboard.

You can also go to Scout.com and participate in the free Mock Draft World Championship. I think the overall winner gets like $20,000. Outside of you, drafts are automated, so a draft will only take a few minutes. Good drafting practice for free, with a chance to win cash.

Fournette is going at the end of the 2nd as rb12 right now. I don't see him finishing that high at the position.

shit, i start drafting in Feb. 51 best ball teams so far, trying to get to 100. I find an advantage to drafting early, higher win percentage in the early months.

sorry I dont understand what youre saying here.

Youve drafted 51 fantasy teams already?

There is no reason to draft until at least camp is over, too many injuries possible.

yes. I drafted 51 already. Best ball teams. No in season management. 20 man roster, optimal scoring week to week. $10 per team, you get $100 if you win the 12 team league.

Everyone is drafting with the same risks right now. It's about knowing how to build your roster to account for possible injuries, and predicting roles.

    never heard of it before.

    Seems interesting.

Thats alot of money to put out though if youre doing 100 teams. Gotta win 10% of the leagues youre in just to break even.

Last year I did 47 and won 8. I finished 2nd in another 6, 2nd gets your $10 back. I think I can do better than that this year.

Jesus, as a guy that's trying to have a smaller footprint in fantasy sports, that sounds terrifying.

I really do hate fantasy football, but lets get real I'll never stop. I love drafting. The pizza, the booze, the jokes, the immediate over-analyzing of every pick. The morning after every draft, I wish I could stop playing for the year. But that plus the fact I'm always in the top half of the league which tricks me into thinking my time is now...

Yahoo Mock draft, picked 6th of 12. Was harder than I thought. Pick order

    Julio Jones
    Leonard Fournette
    Brandin Cooks
    Tyreek Hill
    Dalvin Cook
    Ben Roethlishburger
    Tyler Eifert
    LeGarrette Blount
    Derek Carr
    Allen Hurns
    Oakland (def)
    Sterling Shepard
    Jeremy Hill
    Jared Cook
    Matt Bryant

The board was picking very sporadically, felt like I had to reach a lot. Ideally this season I'd like to be in the 3 hole I think.

I like the CBS Sports FF Today podcast. The ESPN one is pretty bad imo

I listen to the Fantasy Footballers. Highly entertaining and they have a lot of information too. Tried listening to Fantasy Football Show by RotoUnderworld Radio because it had great reviews, but the dude was too crazy for me

listen to the High Stakes Fantasy Football Hour podcast. Or seek out other podcasts created by players who put lots of money on the line. CBS and ESPN are more for entertainment. Take advice from the guys who puts thousands on the line every year. Not the guys who play for fun. Unless you don't care about winning.

I keep mock drafting 10 team leagues between 4th and 7th; i'm doubling up on RB's, then WR's and Yahoo fucking hates it. I haven't have a draft grade above a C- yet.

3rd pick in my high buy in league (at least for me - $200 a person). I've been doing a few mocks, and DJ has pretty much always been gone by the time time its my pick. My personal ranking is:

    DJ
    AB
    LB
    Julio
    OBJ

I've seen some people put Zeke in there, but I am concerned about his off field antics. Anyway, does anyone want to try and sway me on my order? I'm a long time WR first round type of drafter. And I feel like I'm being a bit bias having AB before LB.

That order is perfectly fine. I'd probably take Bell over Brown, just because Brown is completely reliant on Roethlisberger. If Ben goes down, so does Brown. But Bell can still go nuts. And maybe OBJ over Julio. Julio tends to have games where he just isn't as much of a factor as he should be, considering his talent. Only 5 tds last year compared to OBJ's 10.

I've got a keeper league with some solid options. It's a .5 ppr league with a $200 auction budget. We start 2 RBs, 3 WRs and a flex. I can keep two out of D. Johnson ($35), Bell ($45), Jordy ($15) and Howard ($33). I'm keeping DJ for sure and trying to figure out if I want to pair him with Bell or Jordy. Jordy is probably the better value, but I'm really tempted to spend a combined $80 on who I think are the top two players overall and roll from there.

I'd go DJ and Bell. I couldn't imagine facing that combo week to week.

That only gives him $130 to work with for the rest of his roster. It is a formidable due, but it could be a detriment if he has to go with values in other key spots. I like the combo of DJ and Jordy for only $50 total. Saves him $20 which can give more flexibility

I think he could find enough value players to put together a decent team for $130. What would that $20 get you? Maybe ameer abdullah or something? I'd rather have Bell and DJ than DJ, Jordy and Abdullah. I'm not in any auction leagues, so I'm not sure on pricing. But starting with the 2 best, not only rbs, but fantasy players is an incredible start.

I'm not sure of the prices either. I don't think either way is necessarily bad. I also hope DJ can stay healthy. It doesn't seem like his injury at the end of the year is anything to worry about.

Hands down go with DJ & Bell. That floor you would have each week would be hellllllaaaaaa a high

But starting with the 2 best, not only rbs, but fantasy players is an incredible start.
This is where I'm leaning. I'd have essentially a 40 point floor at RB and the cash to go after a lower tier WR1 or a couple of WR2s.

4th pick in a 10-team standard. Thinking either OBJ or Zeke.

My league is switching from 0ppr to .5ppr for the Tight End position. I am selecting 9th overall and am now seriously considering Gronk. Given his ability to be a top fantasy earner regardless of position, the added ppr might be enough to snag him at that spot. Do you think it's realistic for him to be there still and if so, would you take him considering my circumstance. Note: the TE position is the only ppr position on the roster.
