Re: The Decemberists

I was not expecting the song to end up sounding like that. I had only heard the solo versions until now. I mean, I can get used to it and end up digging it, but yeah... interesting turn.

Anyone download the new album yet?

It's... interesting. I've listened about 3 times through already and I'm still disappointed.

EDIT: The Rake's Song is still awesome though.

New album is pretty fantastic. My site gave it a 4/5, which I agree with. Colin Meloy also found our review and told us the record company didn't send us a promo (which they did) and scolded us for reviewing it early.

I've done next to no work on it, as I've had no time out here in Oregon. But next week I'm back in NY, and plan to have a few reviews up quickly.

I used to be opposed to the idea of bands doing albums like that, not counting the white album/abbey road, but after Sufjan's Illinois, I'm wide open to the idea.

So they're pulling an Ace Of Base move? Eh I havent heard any of the leaked stuff yet so idk what I may truly feel about it. I'm just glad to see that they've been working and not laying around like some band we all love and can release an album in under 2 years.

Basically. This is the band that made the first 3 albums, doing what they tried to do on Crane Wife (and, to a lesser degree, The Tain). This album has actually made some people come back to the band that hated The Crane Wife, more than the other way around (from what I've seen). Picaresque is still my favorite, and I found Crane Wife to be a disappointment. But this album has them back in my top 10 bands going right now, for sure.
