Hmmmmm.....will this be a full length show? Actually one of a small handful of places reasonably distant from me that I might very well travel to for a DMB show...

If it's like the Metallica "Night Before" show I saw last year prior to SB50, yes.

Probably wrong, but don't bands/artists that are typically more relevant with NEWER music play these types of shows? I obviously love DMB but feel like they are kind of irrelevant in the music scene (wrongfully so) and people don't generally care or even think about them these days. The reason I'm saying this is not to bash on them, but I wonder if this somehow confirms the "What Album" coming in early 2018. I feel like this would be an early step for them back into the spotlight (no pun intended), maybe to start to get people talking about them, create a little buzz, then announce an album/summer tour. Dave and Tim have been playing a lot of benefit shows and the Charlottesville benefit show with the whole band was actually a pretty big event with big names so they are kinda making their way back into relevancy and I guess I'm just wondering (hoping) if those are early signs of marketing for a new album. Probably not tho.

I think if a new LP were coming in early 2018 that we would've heard about it by now.

Big Whiskey was announced four months before the album came out. Roughly the same for AFTW.

Just curious when the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominations are announced. If I'm not mistaken, in 2018 DMB will be eligible for the nomination. Maybe this is a way to remind the nomination committee DMB is out there and still relevant? St. Paul, Minnesota is less than thousand miles away from Cleveland, Ohio.

This is kinda what I was thinking. Maybe theyou announce an album around that time, release it in April then a spring tour to promote. Probably just wishful thinking though.

Or they get a good, non-offensive classic band to come play the hits.

The class that will be inducted in 2018 was announced a month or so ago. DMB wasn't eligible for that class. So October 2018 is when we'll find out if DMB will be in the class inducted in 2019.

Just a thought -- there are a ton of events in the city that day. maybe "headlining" refers to DMB being the last/main event of the day. Not necessarily going to be multiple acts, however, I could see them adding an opener to push demand

I hope so too. But only if Tim is there, because otherwise I predict the band goes immediately to relying on Butch as a crutch meaning we go back to ‘05-‘07 long drawn out piano/organ solos. And Butch’s tendencies could mean reeling back in Tim to not go off on tangents too. Having keys will open up tons of cover possibilities that wasn’t possible before.

PASS. DMB should cover more DMB.

Tim isn't going anywhere and I'm pretty confident the Butch appearance was a one time thing. From what I read somewhere it was Butch that initiated that appearance. Also, if Butch returned he will make very little difference to the band's current sound. He won't reign Tim in, Tim won't reign him in and the band won't somehow magically begin to play like they did in 2004. He will be just another brick in the wall of sound the band has become.
