Re: Black Friday Record Store Day 2018: Prism '93 and C'Ville '94

Serious question: given that Trax ‘94 is a two-track recording, what sort of quality should we expect from the vinyl release? And more generally, is the DMBLive series being remastered for vinyl (based on Benaroya and Academy releases)?

A lot of people (myself included) predicted that Live Trax 5 would be the Last presses to vinyl. That’s because Live Trax 6 would be so huge and expensive, and skipping around would make collectors go nuts

DMBLive is a much better series for vinyl because you can skip around as they aren’t released in a sequential numbering system like Live Trax. I would love if they just continued Live Trax as digital and CD releases, and DMBLive as digital and vinyl releases. Hopefully any future DMBLive entries will have the vinyl option available upon release.

Yeah I’m pretty sure they’re mastered for vinyl. I’m not super savvy with audio stuff, but the records certainly sound better to me than the mp3s

Really good shows for sure, but not worth the crazy visits as I’ve done previously for RSD. Was really hoping for a remastered LS vinyl, I’ll just hold out a bit longer.

I don't think anyone knows that info yet on whether they're mastered for vinyl, but I would expect Scott Hull will as he did the other two.

Nothing wrong with the existing digital files tho IMO, great dynamics too:

    ISO List for BFRSD 2018:

Click the "Show Spoiler" Button to reveal hidden text.

Unless specified, assume that all on the list are seeking both releases & the free 7" of Again and Again b/w She. I will make a note next to a name if they only are after 1 release, or if they have stated a preference for one over the other.

I'm doing my best to keep up with the list but please let me know if I've missed anyone

Every record store day one of you posts about this awesome shop in Florida that ships and I have been able to get both RR and Luther from them by calling in the afternoon after their crowds die down. I cannot for the life of me remember their name though. Anyone have any clue what store I'm talking about? Might be worth compiling a list of stores that we know ship.

That's awesome! I'm good friends with a used record shop owner. He tells me when he finds cool stuff, but he doesn't participate in RSD.

Same here, my friend that owns a shop doesn’t participate and I don’t blame him. It’s not worth it.

If you have stores that will hold one for you, don't post it

My store used to hold things for us regular customers and they got in big trouble with RSD a few years back and had to stop doing it.

Yeah it's very much against the rules and the spirit of the whole thing. If I found out my local store was doing that I'd report them to RSD in a heartbeat.

The spirit of the whole thing is lost. It was to try and get people to shop at and respect local music stores, but it’s just become a nightmare for shop owners. The one onwner I’m friends with hates RSD and hasn’t participated in years

Sweet, there's a local store 10 minutes away that signed the record store day pledge recently. I probably won't have to travel 40 minutes away anymore

Please add me to the ISO list. I'll definitely share any extras here if I come across them.

Updated ISO List for BFRSD 2018:

Click the "Show Spoiler" Button to reveal hidden text.

Unless specified, assume that all on the list are seeking both releases & the free 7" of Again and Again b/w She. I will make a note next to a name if they only are after 1 release, or if they have stated a preference for one over the other.

I'm doing my best to keep up with the list but please let me know if I've missed anyone

ISO both as well. Please add me to the list. If I am able to source multiple copies I will share. Also ended up with an extra RSD D&T Luther if anyone still needs that one.

I'm already on the ISO list, but I'm only interested in the D&T Prism vinyl, for what it's worth. Thanks!

With that low press count, I have a feeling I’m gonna end up on eBay for these.

I imagine each one will be around $200-250 each. The 7” probably $50-$100

Can I add my name to the ISO list for just the 7”?
