Re: Lying In The Hands Of God is absolutely beautiful...

lying in the hands of god was actually one of my least favorite songs on BW, but after hearing it live at Darien Lake this summer, my opinion of it completely changed. i absolutely love this song now and the jam in it is awesome.

A song of quality, like I said, I wasn't sure was possible anymore.

Squirm is a song that doesn't really get the love I anticipated it would when I first heard the April Sessions. I played that song to death and was still in love with it, and still am. It is also a song that hasn't developed live like I thought it would either. I always envisioned a LIOG type jam after Dave says "Above all things, if kindness is your king, then heaven will be your's before you meet your end." I think you hit on an important part of this song, it really does capture a darker side of DMB that after tLWS Captain-and most of the album-that I didn't think the band or Dave was going to go back too. Too High is another song in that list of darker songs that I never really thought would come back full swing. Squirm is still probably my favorite off the album along with LITHOG.

So amazing. My boyfriend didn't really think much of it at first, and he's been a Dave fan for about 8 years longer than me, and now, after much discussion and listening, plus hearing it live this summer and last (OMG awesome for LITHOG lovers, considering, holy crap they just play it beautifully live) he agrees 100% with me. It's for sure going to be a wedding song. lmao. HINT HINT BAAAABE (antelope). hahahahahahah!

it definitely sounds very spoon-ish to me at times, I love Jeff's part on LITHOG. Jeff really really chills me out on this song, overall it's a top 20 for me.

I dig it, but it's nothing special for me.

Squirm is easily the best off Big Whiskey, and I (personally) love Funny the Way It Is.

    I'd rank LItHoG 3.

I didn't know that, but that makes me like it more also, need to listen to it again now that i have that new bit of info. this song is just sooooo chill and makes me feel like getting high no matter what the song is about, it just makes you want to be in that state of mind.

honestly i didnt fully appreciate it until i saw it live on the 09 tour. when the song first started playing i was more than tempted to get up and grab a beer. but for whatever reason, i decided to watch it; and jeff coffin blew my mind. eversince i've come to understand the song in its entirety in an entirely different light

i don't LOVE any songs on BW, but some of them are great. This song is #1 for me on the album and the first that initially stuck out when i listened to the album.

The version on the album is ok but gets boring after a while to me. However, i think it's one of my favorite songs to hear live by them.

Love this song, but, being a grammar snob, one thing always sticks out to me:

"Save your sermons for someone who's afraid to love"

this is an amazing song and its even better live with the jeff and carter jam. Definitely the most well thought out song and probably the best song on BWhiskey for sure.

You don't like the use of the contraction?

Very enjoyable in studio but it hasn't done anything for me in the live performances that I've seen. C'Ville's version (longest version to date) just seemed to drag on far too long without much happening.

Dave sings, "For someone that's afraid to love."

It should be "who" not "that" because he says someone not something.

I gotcha. I didn't pick up on it at the time because 1) what you wrote was grammatically correct and 2) I didn't look back at the lyrics to see that it says "that's" instead.
