there are special balls used for punting, FG kicking, and kickoffs so this wouldn't come into play on a muffed punt

the football has a weight requirement. if it's intentionally doctored by a team there should be a penalty. I don't know how they'll be able to prove it in the pats case, but Rodgers is on record saying he prefers the ball inflated more than normal

from my understanding, it's the refs that bring in the kicking ball, not the teams, but i could be wrong

no, they are used for all kicking plays, including punts, XP, FG and kickoffs

The balls are checked or handled by the refs then the teams ball boy keeps them on the sidelines....in the case of Rodgers, I doubt a ball boy is on the sidelines with a pump, pumping up the ball...be pretty noticeable.

check out the above article as well, only the refs handle the K-balls and Mike Holmgren touches on how well they are guarded so teams can't doctor them

so in theory the interior d-linemen should be able to see if the ball is marked with a k and then signal to everyone whether the other team is going to fake the kick.
