Yeah I get what you're saying, and I agree. A riff being noodled / "teased" doesn't mean the song was actually written or composed back then. But then again, that wasn't really the point we were making. I guess we were looking at from a historical point of view, where the roots of some of these songs and ideas came from. Some of which had been on Dave / the bands mind for many years before ever materializing. Some to less a degree (Red Glare, JTR, The Riff, LITHOG, etc.) and some to a more developed level (Rapunzel, Raven, Captain, etc.)
And some were entirely different songs that evolved. (What Will Become of Me, Leave Me Praying, Don't Burn the Pig, etc.) Even though this is all super nerdy, it fascinates me.
