One way to help with that is to think of that last 4 hits of the F# G A B as being the same rhythm as when those hits are made during the pre-chorus. Use the same timing after those hits as you would during the pre-chorus to return nicely to the 1 beat. You can do the same thing when dave goes straight from the intro to the chorus after the second verse.

Other than that, video looks amazing. Nicely done.

out of curiosity, how are you counting it?

like... for frame of reference, in the verses, what are you saying carter's snare beats are on?

In the verses, they’re on the 2 beat as normal.

The intro begins on the “and” of the 3 beat, which throws the entire thing off.

One and two and three (and/hit) four (and/hit)

The intro has to lead into a verse starting on the 1 beat, so you have to account for the time added.

The way I think of this is as if the F# G A B run at the end of the intro is the same as the one in the pre-chorus - super hard for me to explain. I struggled to figure this out for a while. Maybe try clapping out the beats through the entire intro - just don’t forget that the intro starts on the and of the 3 beat. Kind of hard to stay on, but if you do, you’ll be clapping on each up and down beat of the verse when you reach it.

EDIT: One thing I forgot you can do - listen to a version of the song with the nature intro... maybe the acoustic set summer tour warm up video - you’ll see where the intro starts etc. Wish this was not so confusing to explain, but Dave loves to mess around with the weirdest timings...

well the reason i ask is because i went back and listened to the intro on my video several times and counted, and if it's off it's only by a fraction of a beat, irrespective of where if you think the first beat of the intro is happening on the and of 3 or anywhere else. maybe we're just hearing it differently, but i hear the opening riff starting on the and of 4. carter's snare in the verse are on the and of each count... instruments kick in out of the intro on the and of 1 in the verses.

i'm not intending to be combative here, i'm not a music major, but how is the count i'm doing here in this recording not the correct count? https://soundcloud.com/songstimh/billies-count/s-MNS1V

Anyone have any tips on playing slide guitar? I am interested in learning some Allman Brothers Band songs.

    Re: guitar lessons

Does anyone have any advice on picking up speed in acoustic playing. I'm specifically referring to Tim's flamenco part in Betrayal. I've practiced and practiced and it just doesnt get any better at all. By better I mean faster. Zero progress, not just me being impatient.

I've been playing Dave's stuff for years and I've been able to pick up on a lot of his nuances and I can see progress. With ANYTHING that Tim does, i just seem to smack a wall. Anyone have advice
