Could Dallas lure Pop?

I honestly don’t think there is anyone on the market that is as good (or better for that matter) than Carlisle.

I love Carlisle, but I think this kind of makes sense for both teams. He wasn't the right fit to develop Luka.

i know Boston wants to be younger (and blacker if we’re being transparent) but the Celtics make a ton of sense for Carlisle


and if we’re looking at Dallas current roster, Budenholzer makes sense for them while Carlisle makes sense for Milwaukee. boom, simple

other than fancy three guard lineups and two center lineups i’d say Carlisle does have an issue with development and creativity though, so it’s not a grand slam

Carlisle is no longer the most overrated coach in the league. Sad. I hope he gets hired again so he can be overrated as shit somewhere else.

i think he’s a flawed coach but has all the tools. overrated in a sense of accomplishment but not ability. the one criticism is that his offenses have always been very old school, even if his rotations are weird/out of the box. and defensively his teams have been on the poop side, but that was always the logical front office choice given the superstars they’ve had in Dallas

as a function of team building this team makes perfect sense. got a great defensive player who can’t shoot? surround him with offense. run the break. where that breaks down is if guys like Harris and Embiid stop making shots. hard disagree here as far as how the team is built... you're playing off the wrong person in this scenario. You need to match who fits with Joel... Simmons is not the type of guy you want to pair with Embiid and Embiid is the guy you have to build around. Embiid needs a combo guard/wing that he can play in the Pick N Roll with and play off one another. They need a scorer. I cannot imagine how good the Sixers be with a great combo guard as their primary ballhandler.

On offense once Simmons clears his man is able to sag off him, this hurts Embiid and really the rest of the team. They don't work great together.

i think we both agree about the dynamic between Embiid and Simmons. it should’ve pivoted away. but given that you (Morey) weren’t gonna pivot, and were gonna give them a chance with Rivers, this is a pretty good roster. at the end of the day Harris and Embiid have to hit shots, and their conditioning/play calling is another convo

a dynamic slasher/pnr handler wasn’t there unless you traded Simmons or another huge asset, which yes we both agree they should’ve done anyway

Harris is kind of in the Middleton position of being their #2 guy on offense but not really being a #2. Though it's more glaring than Middleton, because Harris isn't nearly as good.
