A lot of us midwesterners have done this strategy for years. Usually ~September each year I'd book every weekend at my favorite Creek hotel for the next summer's June/July/August since they refunded up until a few days before. Then once we had a date I'd cancel the other weekends. It would take some time to book and cancel but getting the exact room I wanted at an amazing rate was always worth it.

I usually have a handful of weekends booked, trying to avoid sorting thru all these emails and tracking it lol

I actually can't speak to VA Beach. For July, I was only told NC shows as the opener plus West Palm.

Yeah, agree. I save all the emails, too.

Choice has a pretty nice user interface for existing reservations so it's usually a case of as I book I cross check and make sure everything is square....then do cancellations through the site.

And they also are good about sending an upcoming reservation email for a final reminder. Definitely used those a few times, too.

C-Scott--don't you normally have the algorithm gimmick on the DMB site on changing the web address to manipulate the new dates before they are posted, almost like they are in a pre production or sandbox status before they go live? Can't you get to them and post here?

They caught on and don't post the dates in advance anymore. They'll be a small window at some point tomorrow where you can find them (as they upload them) before they make the announcement but generally by the time we find them all, the announcement is already out.

I guess we'll figure it out when the dates drop. My assumption is they couldn't make the existing dates work logistically and they couldn't find another hole in the schedule to make them work.

There'd be no issue with crowd size here.

Edit: And what you said about ticket sales, much easier to cut when they have not sold anything yet.
