The old standby for countering the "metal sucks and those bands write shitty lyrics" argument used to be to play that person Fade to Black. Lots of people became metal fans after hearing that. Its a good gateway drug into excellent metal songwriting.

I mean ZBB plays Sandman all the time and do a good job with it. Zac doesn't play Het's part. DMB could figure something out and I bet it would be pretty sweet. All sorts of bands do it,

I'd argue lots of Metallica's parts are more difficult to play than Dave's though I do see your point. So completely different though. Would be interesting to see James play something like Billies. I'm pretty sure Het could handle the solo to FTWII a little better than Dave could handle any of the lead parts James plays though. Dave and James are really the 2 reasons I really got into guitar.

I'm loving the ...And Justice for All box set, it's fucking great to dive into all of the material. This is, along with the previous sets, exactly how you celebrate anniversaries for your catalog.

Just ordered the box set, and Xmas sweater I'm stoked to listen to the riffs and rough takes of the songs. I wouldn't be playing guitar today without AJFA, probably my favorite album of all time, stoked!

Would be awesome if DMB did something similar....ever.

That's very cool man! They were the first ever band I saw 20 years ago and seen them several times since although not since Golden Gate Park 2012. When they come to Australia/New Zealand-I'll be going to every show

Made the drive out to Fresno to see Metallica last night and they were great as always. The new album songs translate really well live. They played Hit the Lights, Fade to Black, and Ride the Lighting as the "uncommon" choices for the evening. Moth into Flame with a swarm of drone moths flying formations over the stage was properly impressive. They are still one of the best live bands on the planet after all these years.

Nice! It's a fun city. I don't do a lot of visiting when I'm there (mostly drive straight to the show and straight home) but there's plenty to do. I'd say you gotta try hot chicken while you're there. If you don't want to wait for Hattie B's I'd go to Pepperfire. Just as good and rarely a wait.
