I'm guessing that when you say "Deer Creek" you are actually talking about Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Noblesville Indiana??

DMB at Alpine would've obviously been great, but it looks like we'll be hanging with Pearl Jam instead! They are also awesome and are supposedly playing Alpine.

Do you have this on good authority?? That would help save my summer with an Alpine weekend.....

Greek in Berkeley, for such a small venue, is one tall ass stage! I think front row is really unpleasant there. First little step up at the back of the pit is the best.

Absolutely! I was front row for N1 in 2016 and you're basically looking straight up the entire night.

It was still great, as I've never been railed before and it was a great experience to have one time, even though I typically to prefer to be a bit further back. Really awesome venue though - so small by DMB standards and so unique.

These types of things rarely make a dent. This was a business decision through and through. No one at RLM will care about this if people still go to Chicago and Summerfest. Especially not Coran Cap$haw.

Do you really want to make your voice heard? Email management. Take some time and create a well-written, well thought out email voicing your disappointment in their decisions.

    bruce.flohr@redlightmanagement.com
    coran.capshaw@redlightmanagement.com
    matt.ringel@redlightmanagement.com
    davematthewsband@redlightmanagement.com
    patrick.jordan@redlightmanagement.com
    ambrosia@thefunstar.com

This band runs itself like a business a lot at times ($150 guitar straps, anyone?), and those are a lot of the people responsible. If they start getting overwhelming emails that are respectful but vocalize your disappointment well, then that's probably the best you can really do.

This decision is financial. Not only are they playing three shows instead of two by skipping Alpine, but it better captures the local markets. There will be way more casual fans attending these shows than Alpine ever would. And during a tour supporting an album, that's key.

These folks will look at this from a pure numbers perspective and justify their decision. But if you make your voice properly heard, then that's the most you can possibly ask for. Who knows. But it's your best outlet.

Oh for sure, 100%. Certainly no allusions that this would actually change anything. We figured it'd be a win if it just garnered enough support to get in front of some eyes at management. I totally understand why they did this from a business standpoint. Headlining Summerfest carries clout and, as you said, allows them to expand to 3 shows in the area by adding Chicago.

I'm as bummed as anyone that there will be no Alpine, but I fully understand the reason why. Why wouldn't they try to market their new album to the widest possible audience? It's more common sense than greed, IMO.

Chicago and Milwaukee can appeal more directly to the local market. Not much local market in East Troy, Wisconsin. Seems like this tour is more targeted towards local marketing, not people traveling. Makes sense, being an album tour.

I am more upset about this decision because of the potential residual effects on Alpine itself. When I heard they were re-opening for 2018, I just assumed they had preliminary discussions with RLM because a DMB weekend is a massive date on their calendar.

Not sure they are playing Alpine, strong rumors point to Pearl Jam playing Wrigley again this year. Not sure they would play both Wrigley and Alpine, but it could happen.

Alpine basically is the Milwaukee market. It's like 20 miles down the road. It just comes down to Summerfest wanted them, Summerfest has massive pull/clout, so they got them.

I actually think PJ could pull that off, attendance wise. Not saying I think it's likely, but they *could* do it.

On the bright side, this gives me a realistic chance of doing Gorge in 2018.

On the darker side, this makes me truly wonder what this means for Alpine Valley going forward....they had to have been banking (literally) on this summer, and subtracting one of their biggest (if not the biggest) acts in a tour season CANNOT spell good things for the ole' balance sheet.

PLEASE DONT GO ALPINE. WE LOVE YOU DEARLY.

Emails (respectfully written) have been sent. Petition signed. I'm so bummed. I am NOT spending the money to go to Northerly Island. That venue is a turd. Might travel over to Milwaukee, stay with friends and go to the Summerfest gig.

Thank god we got lucky and have the Super Bowl show here in a couple weeks.

Honestly, I think the fact that they were able to be open and book (at least) 5 shows this year *without* DMB is a good sign. They seem committed to keeping the venue alive. I think when they announced they were going to be open this year that they surely had to have DMB on the books, and the fact that they were able to do it without them is a positive, IMO.

OR....................and hear me out............they play a standard 2-night gig in Chicago and when Dave sits down to write the Summerfest set he realizes "oh shit, we just played this" and he starts filling in the gaps with some rare gems.

    Summerfest. What a joke.

Not as big of a joke as $115 for lowers/pit it looks like? Yeah, no.

Re: ***Official No Alpine Valley In 2018***

They seriously need to get off the 4th of July weekend midwest stops. Pretty much kills any chance of deer creek for me in 2018. Sad...have not missed a creek show since I started going there in '12.

    Gorge here I come.

Petition signed, btw. Thanks for putting that together Alex!

Not a problem at all, it literally took 5 minutes. Props to Zags85 who originally had the idea. Please feel free to share anywhere you can. And emails to the folks that Lockman listed out above are a good idea and has he said, likely to have more direct impact.

Will sign it, but I doubt the petition does anything. I think the best you could hope for is that they come to Alpine every other summer.
