    That's a pretty good reason!

There really isn't much to see or do in the area near the venue. Downtown Indy is nice with plenty of bars, restaurants, breweries, etc. There's a cool riverwalk type area. IMO there really isn't much as far as "OMG you HAVE to do XXX while you're in Indianapolis," but a local can probably give better recommendations.

I actually booked that same Embassy Suites just to have a room on standby, but will probably end up camping.

Except then you can re-use that gear every time.

I'm not sure about downtown Indy, but I'm positive Noblesville has plenty of screen door factories that offer daily tours.

Any good breweries in Indy? I've never been, so I'm trying to find some fun stuff to do.

First time making the trip. Very much looking forward to it. I will be staying in downtown Indianapolis, a city I’ve never been to. So what are the do’s and don’ts? Hows traffic? How long does it take typically to get from downtown Indianapolis to the venue? Indy seems like a cool place to spend a long weekend. Want to make the most of it

Black Acre is a start and my personal favorite but its more on the east side of town but worth checking and close to the highway to head up to the venue at least.

Downtown i would put Metazoa on the top list. Sun King is the big popular brewery although i am not a fan of it but thats just my personal opinion.

There are a ton more but that is a small sample starting point.

Plenty. Kevin(MyersK) is your man for that, but Sun King, Black Acre, Brew Link, Fountain Square are all some of my favorites back home.

Daredevil in Speedway is another good one, and you can tie in a visit to IMS while you're at it.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway tour is awesome. We did that the first time we were in Indy and it was worth it. Kissing the bricks was awesome!

If alpine was happening I might consider 4 only because this is the 10 year anniversary of my first show. (Alpine n2 08). But the Chicago venue sucks, so that makes it easy. Plus I can lawn comfortably at least one night.

Alpine not being 35K crazies just makes it not the same for me. It is just another venue to me personally now.

Try to get up early...one year the wife and I had reservations and told us they were full when we got down there...they directed us to what they called "Sleepy Bear II" which was like someones house and behind a barn

What day and time did you show up?

The day of the first concert mid-day?

I don't see it either. Maybe due to the name change?

Never been to close by either. Just dead creek camp.

I stayed at Close-By for 4-5 years in a row. Always had a good time but that was during my younger years. There are some great spots by the trees and plenty of room.

Yes, they do have a shuttle. I believe two bucks each way. Yeah it is laxed. I believe they always have a community fire. Personal had to be in a metal pit. Free Spaghetti on Saturday night after the show.
