I figured there's no way the band goes on tonight.
Then what followed was Bartender, the looks on the band's faces a complete confirmation of everything. The show that followed was one of the most emotional, incredible and powerful things I'd ever seen from them that I hope to never have to experience again. Every song had a little extra weight to it. Proudest Monkey, So Damn Lucky, The Maker, Loving Wings, Two Step...
RIP LeRoi. Happy to have shared the Earth and musical space with you for the time you were here

I could only imagine the atmosphere in there that night. I added Bristow that year (first ants tailgate ever for me), obviously not knowing what was to come. Bought my tix with Stage Left Solidarity in mind and will always feel appreciated and honored for the last night with him. I was actually boarding onto a bus from a deployment ceremony heading off to Basrah when I heard. I was in shambles and was very thankful everyone else was saying goodbye to family, to help cover for watery eyes.
