But also, there are only 3 bands who have notched five consecutive number 1 albums on the billboard 200 (disturbed, metallica, and dmb). i remember this from an article in 2015 (?), may have possibly changed since then, as metallica dropped a new album
I think Bieber has 6 straight #1 albums too

They should just based on touring alone.

    1. Highest Grossing Band for touring in 2000-2009 decade.

    2. 6 consecutive #1 albums on Billboard....

Yeah this should get them in

They should but I don't think they will. It seems more bands who should get in on the first ballet don't.
Hell some even go yrs after they should get in

They have to. Take a look at the other acts that could potentially get in. Without DMB, you are looking at a half empty arena for the induction ceremony with record low ratings for the HBO broadcast.

I think DMB straddles the line between a pop rock band with some jazz/funk/soul influences and jam band. They lean on improvisation sometimes, but there's usually a structure to it when they do, the rest of the band vamping on a theme while one individual solos.

I would not call Pearl Jam a jam band. I'd call them a grunge band that became an alternative rock band. They vary their sets greatly, but I don't see a strong jam element to what they do in the vast majority of their songs.
This was truly the most nauseating thing I have ever read on this site. I truly dislike Radiohead and many of their fans have really turned me off from them as well (Not all fans are the same blah blah I know). It makes me sad to read that Dave holds them in such high regard considering that I feel like Radiohead doesn't hold a candle to DMB in the way of impact on music or feeling that they give me (second part being subjective obviously).

As far as impact on popular music goes, my parents know of DMB, but they have no clue who Radiohead are. Yet Radiohead fans will often consider them the greatest gift to music of all time.

I just don't get it. My wife is a Radiohead fan and I have really been trying to get into their music and understand it. I just don't. I think they are pretentious and overrated. I even recently had a Radiohead fan tell me that they hate the Doors because Jim Morrison was too pretentious for them...I literally laughed out laud at this.

I respect that a lot love them and understand that music is largely a "to each their own" thing. Heck, I have tried to explain Phish and even the Grateful Dead to countless numbers of people who are lost on it. So I know music being lost on some happens.

Despite the fact that my dislike for Radiohead literally goes back almost 20 years now, I am still trying to give their music a fair shake. I just borrowed my wife's albums and will give them a thorough listen through. Just every time she has played me something I was turned off by it.

Anyway, DMB > Radiohead was my point.

This site has a list of eligibles for 2018. Not a whole lot there who can fill an arena.

^ Snoop Dogg's a lock from that group.

Björk, Roots, DMB and maybe Wu-Tang are the next tier, imo.

DMB and Snoop are definitely locks in my book

Hopefully Jethro Tull, Iron Maiden, Judas Priests and some of the other many forgotten bands will also get their due.

So Rage didn't get in this year. Wonder if they get in next year...

When they do, if they decide to play, I'm going to be there.

Knowing RATM they'll probably just protest it.

Rage is a perfect example of why I'm not convinced DMB makes it. Rage are a massive band that didn't invent a genre, but went a long, long way to popularizing the rap/rock thing. Huge hits. Massive influence. Innovators. And they didn't make it.

I didn't know they were eligible, but, yeah, absolutely. Radiohead's as sure a thing as there is for the rock hall.

RATM didn't have as long of success as DMB has had. RATM didn't even span an entire decade. DMB is celebrating 25 years.

I use to really love the bends and OK computer but to be honest it isn't exactly uplifting music and I don't ever want to be in the mood to listen to the bends.

The number of years you were together doesn't necessarily speak to impact. Nirvana lasted like five years and they're in the Hall.

Doubt this weighs in whether they'll get in the HOF in 2018, but when I toured the museum in 2014 I couldn't find a single item from DMB.

Yes, they had one Taylor Swift's dresses in there when I went (2009). But it wasn't in the main exhibit.

I think they'll get in eventually. Maybe 19-20, but I don't think 18 is their year.

There are still a few big bands from the grunge era that aren't in yet. I'd say Soundgarden may end up in there this coming year or perhaps Chris Cornell himself for his work in both Soundgarden and Audioslave.

Radiohead maybe...as critical darlings as they are they aren't massive chart toppers.

RATM of course hasn't been inducted yet, but I'm not sure if they're corporate enough for the hall.

There's probably also loads of older acts we may be forgetting like Yes and Journey that were inducted in 2017 after some years of waiting.
