billy, the fine print says if you do the payment plan you can switch cards. So you can put your first payment on a card you have and the rest on your new card when it gets here. It’s an extra $50 but if it works for you...

I’m booked at Maya also Is it too far away for a countdown?

Carly

Well, I’m actually still researching what new card to get

We are contemplating booking on the payment plan and then switching the card later as well

Good luck, I hope you find the right one. Sometimes it’s perfect and sometimes it’s like who cares about 5x points on flights?? I only fly a couple times a year. Show me the grocery store / wholesale club (I feel like I live at Costco)/ gas station points! But I understand those who travel for work or small business folks..it’s hard to find the perfect one..

MY card came today. It's the AAdvantage Citi Mastercard. 60,000 bonus miles after making $3,000 in purchases in 3 months. That's $1,000 in travel.

So, purchasing the trip will do it!

    Are the excursions expensive?

I feel like every excursion is $70-$120pp

I rarely do excursions on these kinds of trips because I figure I’m spending so much to be there already, I want to stay at the resort and take advantage.

The beach at the Barcelo is amazing, one of the nicest beaches ever

There is a big pier in the center of the property where they have water sports and what not. There is very good snorkeling right off the beach or pier, people have seen or swam with turtles at the far end near the palace

CID will have entertainment and live music at the main pool daily, it’s a big pool party

They will also setup activities like tequila tastings, yoga on the beach, beach volleyball or corn hole etc.

You can also walk out of the resort and there are several public cenotes right across street or down the street. We did this two years ago and it was cool. Lots of info on trip advisor on these. The scariest part was just crossing the street otherwise it was fine....

Ha ha... me too. But I’m doing it again!

    You only live once!

It’s basically like doing an all inclusive resort during peak holiday season then doing VIP tickets for 3 shows. And for what you get at the show experience wise, it’s worth it, it’s just a lot of money all out together

We didn't do anything in 2017, did Xel Ha this year. It was fun and we're happy we did it, but I don't think we'll do anything in 2019. Plenty to do at the resort already, especially our favorite activity, drinking and relaxing on the beach!

I was talking to someone at work about this trip after I booked and he said ‘you HAVE to go, you only live once!’

He was a professional blues guitarist for a long time which might have something to do with it. Either way, I share the sentiment

So can someone tell me how “all inclusive” this is? Like is it all meals and alcohol? Lots of money, trying to decide how worth it it is.

You can show up and just have $$ for tips (although not required.... but highly recommended) and money for merch (posters, T-shirt’s etc)

At the Barcelo all meals and drinks are included, even at the shows.

My husband and I bring $100-$200 in $1s and $5s and obviously have a credit card for emergencies, but only used money for tips, posters and a few random souvenirs in the market place.

We did walk to a cenote down the road and pay a $1 or something for admission (like a state park)

Has anyone done the golf outing before? Pretty pricey, but it is PGA level course. The link says there is some swag included, anything good?

What is the schedule like for the shows? What time do the gates open? Openers? and when do Dave and Tim hit the stage? I really want to dive the cenotes and the resort offers a dive trip but definitely want to make sure that we would get back in time for the shows.

I have a double room, but there are only two of us going. In the past, have people rented out the spare bed in their room to someone who may want to go, but can't afford the whole enchilada? I understand it would not include tickets to the show, but would still be a great time I would think. Just not sure where the resort stands on this. Do they have wristbands so they can tell who is a paying guest?

Yes, the are resort wristbands, which are separate from the concert wristbands.

FYI the Barcelo resort is offering a 45% off cyber Monday sale. So if you booked any extra days through the resort itself you can probably get some money back on those reservations.

Is it the Barcelo Maya Colonial? Looks like you can get a Premium Junior suite for 5 nights for $2,700 for two people instead of $5,700...and listen to the shows from afar?

Yes, that's one of the resorts at the Barcelo -and yes you can do that.. and also just sit on the beach behind the fencing and listen. I seriously considered doing just that this year.

Warren Haynes, Tyler Childers, and Valerie June will be guesting this year. Always great to see Warren Haynes, and he hasn’t appeared in a Dave & Tim set very often. Looking forward to hearing the other two for the first time!

Tyler Childers is fucking amazing. So jealous for y'all! Between him and Margo Price showing up at the Gorge, it seems they are into the "outlaw" country scene a little!
