Yeah Porcello has been great as a set up guy...but it does prove a point that they don’t have an actual setup guy.

But as long as they are winning and it hasn’t hurt them as a starter not much to complain about.

Well they definitely don't have a reliable setup guy but acknowledging that and finding a creative way to get through is great, guys like Workman and Kimbrel are a hot mess but they haven't had to rely on them too much. They are doing well piecing things together, wouldn't work for a season but it's working so far for the time being.

I thought Price pitched well on Sunday. I feel good about him the rest of the playoffs.

I'm annoyed at how late this game will get over tonight lol

He wasn’t bad and he got screwed over by shitty defense. Could have easily looked a lot better for him line wise.

He didn't completely lose all bodily functions and turn into a hot sweaty and hyperventilating mess as per usual, still though there is nothing about his performance that stood out as being good.

He gave up 4 runs and if his SS makes a play we’ve seen him make 100 times he gives up half that and goes at least 5 innings while giving up 2 and getting a W in the process. He was a lot closer to good than bad to anyone that watched the game and saw and understood how it went down.

Yeah watched the whole thing and I'd give him about a D for the performance, a whole 5 innings though really would have been impressive

Seriously though, if it weren't for a couple of shitty plays in the field, Price probably goes 6 innings. His defense screwed him. I don't know what's going on with XB... maybe it's the black hole of 3rd base rubbing off on him.

I also thought he got pulled early would have let him finish the inning

Probably better to not give up another HR hit so hard I'm not sure if it has landed yet, he did improve on his 16+ ERA from the first playoff game he pitched against the Yankees, 9.95 ERA is a clear improvement

It was just a mental mistake. A big one though. Like I said when it happened he played that ball like Ortiz was running to first. Probably won’t happen again but he screwed his pitcher big time. Hopefully price builds on that start and keeps trending in the right direction. Going to need him.

If Price keeps cutting his ERA nearly in half from the previous start he'll be around 5 for the next game and then pretty legit in the World Series, would be great to see

Not really concerned with his ERA for last start since about 3 people have explained on this page how it can be negatively impacted by a SS not thinking.

Seems legit - the Red Sox have been known to cheat a little bit themselves.

There was a bungled play (or 2) at 3rd too. It wasn't just XB.

Edit... I could be misremembering since they fuck up at 3rd all the time but I thought there was a couple bad plays there too the other night.

About what I expected from them. Machado trying to break ankles probably a closed issue too.
