haha, a fellow ant was standing probably just a few feet behind you! Such an awesome show and experience seeing them at that kind of venue. Today will be rough at work, but totally worth it

Awesome lineup at Metro this weekend, I'm seeing Jack White there on Saturday.

How early did you get in line? Did it seem oversold or pretty comfortable? (probably pretty hard to tell from the rail). My wife may be running a little late, just curious how much of a madhouse it will be.

Any feedback on security as far as bringing a vape pen in?

    TIA

I got there at 9:30. Didnt get railed but got just a few rows back. Kind of surprised by that, as the line was around the corner when we got there. Expect to wait in line for a while, as they process tickets and security very slowly (ultimately a good thing...it was to prevent re-sale of tix). It was pretty crowded, and I have to imagine Jack White will be an even bigger draw.

Be discrete about the pen and you'll be totally fine. Wont be an issue.

I was the taller guy with a white hat on.
We got in line around 7:30 and we were near the door of the bar next door. A handful of people went straight to merch for the poster ahead of us, so we got closer than I would have thought based on the line. We ordered pizza from Aurelio's up the street and bullshitted with the guys in line by us.

We're going back for Houndmouth tonight. It's not sold out, so I'm not planning on getting there too early.

Just "found" these guys earlier this year.... I Need My Girl was the gateway and the floodgates opened WIDE for me. I love EVERYTHING about these guys, Matt's voice, their amazing overall musical talent, the lyrics... And the way they build a song is INCREDIBLE.

Saw them in Toronto for the first time on Saturday -- I say "for the first time" because it will definitely not be the last. Totally in love.

It truly is an epiphany, isn't it?

Pretty much can't stop listening to them these days.

Went to see them in Philly last night. I was about 20 rows back. They were awesome per usual. Matt came into the crowd 5 or 6 times. I was about 3 feet from him at one point. Then for the encore we all just pushed down to the pit.

    Setlist:
    Nobody Else Will Be There
The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness
    Walk It Back
    Guilty Party
    Don’t Swallow the Cap
    Bloodbuzz Ohio
    I Need My Girl
    So Far Around the Bend
    Sorrow
    Conversation 16
    Slow Show
    Empire Line
    Dark Side of the Gym
    Day I Die
    Carin at the Liquor Store
    Graceless
    Rylan
    Fake Empire
    Maybe Not
    Mr. November
    Terrible Love
    Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks

The encore was totally predictable and still fucking awesome. He goes apeshit on Mr. November. So so good.

Apartment Story was that song for me. Probably has climbed into the discussion of one of my favorite songs of all-time.

    Band is just amazing.

INMG definitely one of those gateway songs like Fake Empire...catchy and cute but doesn’t do the band justice

Side note, at the show last week there was no one in attendance under 26, we are fuckin old

I definitely remember feeling the same way at the show in Nashvillle. I am 30, and I definitely felt like I was on the younger end of the crowd.

Saw them at the Greek Theater this week. First time at that venue. Such a damn good show. They said they were filming the 2 shows there using equipment from the 70s-80s, so there might be a release forthcoming?

The setlists are still really Sleep Well Beast heavy this tour, but you'll hear all their hits every show at least.

You'll love it, I promise. The finale of Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks.

yeah same scenario for me when i saw them 2 years ago
i felt like the crowd was super into the music. like, i've been to a handful of shows where people are just there for entertainment or something fun to do. the national was a different atmosphere... knowledgeable fans

Yea, I've seen that, and I'm cool with it since I love SWB (besides Born to Beg which they're fortunately keeping off of setlists). But it's seemed as though since their shows at the Greek that they've been throwing in some tunes that haven't gotten much attention as of late and cutting one or two SWB songs.

I don't know why, but The National never really clicked for me aside from Fake Empire years ago. I'm 28 now and I've recently re-visited them and am just blown away. I cannot get over how good High Violet, Boxer and Trouble Will Find Me is. Still haven't listened to Alligator (next on my list) or Sleep Well Beast yet, or their first 2 records. But man, those 3 albums are freaking incredible.

Sorta started in a similar way. I was always a big fan of bands like Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire but I remember cooking in my kitchen one day while having one of those indie rock music stations playing on my iPad in the background. "Sea of Love" came on and I was hooked. I remember the lead up to Sleep Well Beast was agonizing for me bc I wanted to hear new music from them so badly. Have seen them live now a number of times and they are without question my favorite band on the planet.
