Re: **Official Colorado (Englewood) 2018**
i used to go to 6-8 shows a year, chasing the best set. couldn't miss a show i had the ability to get to because what if they played something i haven't seen before or in a really long time? in 7 shows, i'd see 4 or 5 sevens and shake mes in the hopes of getting that one say goodbye or typical. i would get tired of all the other stuff, even if its a song i liked, simply because i heard it too much by that point.
since moving to denver, most years i only get the 2 shows in camden that i travel home for. some years, like this one, i get 2 extra when they visit denver. because i can't go to as many shows as i used to, i don't get a lot of the same songs every time i do go. and when i get the songs that i used to hear all the time, i enjoy them a lot more now because it may have been a while since the last time i heard it, and it may be a while before i hear it again.
for example, denver was my 34th cornbread in 77 total performances (including D+T). my previous cornbreads were D+T in 2017, nothing in 2016 because it wasn't played at camden, and in the acoustic set in 2015. it had been 4 years since the last time i heard a full band electric cornbread, so ya, i really enjoyed it. last time i heard shake me was 2015. not counting the potential winter tour, its going to be 4 years since i last heard that live by the time next summer rolls around, and there's no guarantee i get it then either. but when i do, chances are im going to enjoy that 4 minute ball of energy a lot more than i did from 2009-2015.
to anyone who is tired of getting the same sets but still loves the music, do yourself a favor and go to less shows. you will end up thoroughly enjoying from start to finish the ones you do go to so much more.
