Hearing both of you say the lawn is great is comforting as now I know that I can do it, AND if anybody wants to join later on, they will have no problem being with my friend and I on the lawn as opposed to trying to find a seat nearby in reserves.

yes, they are just like concert tickets. Hard tickets. Sell/trade just like you would any other ticket.
no name or "registry" to worry about, they just mail them out like everything else.
i don't believe standard camping has ever sold out. certainly not in the last 5-8 years. You will definitely have a spot when you show up.
