Die hard fans that went to numerous shows in previous years don't like this tour's set lists because they hammer the shit out of 22-25 songs and sprinkle in a few rarities (Raven, You Never Know, The Stone, Two Step, JTR, Bartender.... all not very rare songs but rare on this tour.

And since this is a fan site... where many casual fans don't post, they aren't happy.
This website has FOREVER overrated the "casual" fan and completely ignored the group that's between them and us.

There were so many people that loved DMB but weren't as insane about them as some of us are. I know I personally have more people I know than I can count that used to love seeing DMB shows that completely gave up on the band because of setlists at shows.

The fanbase isn't made up of just diehards and casual fans like I always see people reference on this board. The world doesn't come in black and white, there are all sorts of shades of grey.

A good buddy of mine tagged along, for example, came with me to Chicago N1 this year. His first DMB shows since the Chicago Caravan. I'm guessing it's around his 9th or 10th show total. Maybe he doesn't know all of the catalog like we do, but he absolutely knows and loves songs like Pig, You Never Know, Rhyme and Reason, The Stone, etc. We left the show and I asked him what he thought. He said he had fun, but most of that was because of all of our buddies we were with. He said they didn't play much of what he wanted to hear. That same buddy and I just saw the Foo Fighters at Wrigley, and he was BUZZING after the show. Off-the-walls excited. They just blew him away (and me too, for that matter). I haven't seen him act like that after a DMB show in a long time.

My point is, he's not a unique scenario. DMB has completely isolated themselves to a more black-and-white version of that crowd over time. More and more of those people that would fall into those "shades of grey" I mentioned earlier are bailing on DMB, leaving the hardcores like on ants/TDC/etc., freaks like DMB Family and the casual fans.

I think a lot of people on these boards tend to overestimate how many "casual" fans there are just because they're the loudest and most obnoxious at shows, and you can't really tell who the diehards are vs. the "shades of grey" people are. I'm sure there are still plenty that fall somewhere in-between those three categories, but I also think that's where DMB has lost most of it's fanbase. And I do believe that a lot of it is tied to setlists and live performances.

FWIW, $65 might be high by D&T standards but it’s not that high by concert standards these days. I just saw that OAR is coming down here this month and the cheapest ticket is $55. I would hope D&T could get away with charging 10 bucks more than OAR.

Re: 2018 new dmb attendance boxscores

My definition of the casual fan is more your "gray fan" - My wife, been to about a dozen shows over the years, hated this tour, but she's not a fan of the new album. There's a ton of people in the crowd now that WANT Crash, Jimi, Cornbread, Seven, Shake Me, Can't Stop, Bayou. Not me, they're a big long piss break for me. But generally the shows are packed with people OK with it.

I have some serious shit going on and this summer my wife and I have gone, on tour. We've been to Red Rocks twice for 3 nights of the Avetts and a moe. show. We went to see the Foo fighters in WPB, Dispatch, ZBB, and many others. She was like a school girl with a crush for Grohl, asking me 3 songs in, "Is he going to go nuts like that all night?" The Avett Brothers at Red Rocks was simply incredible, shows sold out in minutes AND they had repeats (because fans with all 3 nights were rare) and I didn't really care. I laughed, I cried, I had a song I've chased for years busted out and I went crazy, all while pretty ill. Moe, I had back stage access, VIP seats and we had a ball.

I went to Syracuse, SPAC n2 and WPB for DMB this year. SPAC N2 was the easy winner. Some awesome tour debuts/ a liberation , a partial #40 (lost my voice yelling at Dave, since I was 5 feet away- he was looking right at us teasing, an old school tease that ended with that fucking grin) with some turds sprinkled in had me encouraged for the Florida run. It didn't happen so I've been bitter. Will I still go to shows, sure. But I'm not spending a ton of time and effort on 5-6 shows when I saw 4 this year and 3 were about the same show.

You might be in the 1% or less of DMB fans who did that. There are similarly 1% or less of fans like myself who saw more shows due to no violin.
I get how never your fans such as yourself don't have the same point of reference on how shows used to be, and why people went - but I assure you that part of the ticket sale decrease was because of no violin. Sure, the subpar setlists are more of a factor, I grant you that, but the lack of violin has many fans missing the sound of a favorite band. I actually think they are related though - having a violin would have produced better setlists.

The Orange Beach one isn't bad. It's likely some of the original ticket holders couldn't make the rescheduled date and opted for the refund instead.

Anytime now, a whole bunch of these are going to be released. Maybe next week... maybe not!

I wonder, does the Orange Beach figure give the number of tickets sold originally, or the number of tickets sold after refunds were given due to the re-scheduled date?

I'd be interested to see # of tickets sold against actual attendance at bristow this year.

What venue? They're playing near Buffalo NY in a couple weeks and you can get a lawn ticket for $14 and a general admin ticket (which you can be in pit) for $42.00

Are the max capacity numbers what was released for sale, or are they just that max capacity.
I think I remember reading once that CMAC doesn’t release all the lawn for sale. The venue seating was full this year so any variance I would expect to be from lawn ticket sales.
Also, someone posted the 2016 Woodlands ticket sales and they’re off by around 50 year over year. Seems odd that they sell nearly the same amount of tickets between two tours unless that’s around the number of seats released for sale?

Checked and here’s Woodlands figures as posted here in this thread.
    2016 - 13,195/16,027
    2018 - 13,134 /15,656

wow those are pretty stellar numbers.

most people on here don't realize how poor numbers some/most shows at these types of venues pull for other acts.

I go to shows all the time and it's WAYYYYY less crowded than dave.

Chesney has played dallas the past 2-3 years on the same night. I have no doubt that if he wasn't also in town Dallas would sell out.

I also hate that i have to miss chesney every year.

Re: 2018 Gross & Attendance Figures

Kind of wondering where all the rest of the shows are? My guess is they'll all come pouring in at once.

Pretty sure Chicago N2 was sold out.

    Numbers for the Gorge are in;

    64,437 / 66,882
    $2,922,471 for all 3 shows.
Apparently none of them were sold out. But only 2,400 unsold tickets over 3 nights is pretty good.

Not sure where all the other shows are...

Remember them not even checking tickets when we went in around 9
