Yeah, Hoffman is great in this one. Also, if you get the chance, watch the original version, The Boat that Rocked.

I'll have to check that one out. Seems to be a decent amount of movies based on radio or radio DJ's out there like Private Parts, Good Morning Vietnam, Good Night and Good Luck and Radio Days.

I saw Belfast in theaters with my girlfriend a couple nights ago. It was absolutely outstanding. A wonderful coming-of-age tale that did not focus too heavily on The Troubles (which it easily could have) but rather put it into the context of a normal family trying to decide what is best their children. Acting was superb, overall a really great movie.

I'm planning a triple screening of Belfast, C'mon C'mon, and The Power of the Dog on either Wednesday or Friday this week. It's going to be glorious.

I'd definitely wait until Friday and throw in Licorice Pizza for good measure, but I'm fairly certain it's limited to LA/NYC next weekend.

Belfast sounds like one of those types of movies that will win Best Picture.

Saw Ghostbusters yesterday…about what I expected, which wasn’t great. Pretty disappointing.

I'm currently watching Chairman of the Board, with ads, on Prime. For the first time ever, I couldn't find a movie I was looking for on my torrent site.
This better be a really fucking funny episode, We Hate Movies.

I don't mind doing it if I'm ending the sentence with the title. If I'd used it at the beginning or middle of the sentence I'd probably still use the ellipsis but drop the exclamation point. But then there's the lowercase and all caps aspect of it. Very messy title.

I caught Encanto last night. Probably my favorite non-Pixar animated film from Disney since Moana. I wanted to watch House of Gucci, but it started way too late for its 2.5 hour runtime so that's on the agenda for noon today.

I think you mean Chairman of the BORED, the film responsible for arguably the best Norm MacDonald late night clip ever.

“The very first thing I wrote — before I started on the script — were the six letters of 'mother' and then I paused for a second. I remember this so clearly: I pressed shift-1 and put the exclamation point. That title was there before I wrote a word.”

House of Gucci's only saving grace is Jared Leto acting like he's in a completely different movie. He's a trainwreck to watch, but at least he keeps you awake.

8-Bit Christmas 7.5/10 its essentially A Christmas Story for 80s kids but still decently done. The NES was easily a top 5 memorable Christmas gift so I'm sure that played into the enjoyment as well.

I would agree with this. Most of the best jokes are in the trailer, but the movie finishes pretty strong.

What was the last movie you watched?

Wife and I did a double feature today.

    House of Gucci - 6.5/10

Still don’t know if this was good or not, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Pacing was horrible and the story somehow felt rushed in an absurdly long ~160
minute runtime. Couldn’t take my eyes off of Gaga or Driver, though. They had great chemistry IMO. They let Leto just do whatever the hell he wanted and he worked as a caricature. Honestly thought Jeremy Irons was the highlight.

    Belfast - 9/10

Thought the movie had a lot of heart, and Jude Hill came across as a future superstar. Several scenes resonated on a personal level for me, and I just thought it was just a very well-done movie. Will not be upset at all if this ends up winning Best Picture.

Also I keep seeing trailers for The 355 attached to movies, and it appears they are getting the worst movie of the year out of the way early by releasing it on January 7th. Manages to take some really talented actors and make them look like they haven’t acted a day in their lives.

My local theater chain has a MoviePass type thing for $20/month (3 movies max per week) and you can reserve presale seats ahead of time. Prob gonna subscribe soon w/ No Way Home tix going on sale soon and awards season coming up. So I’ll probably be in here a lot more often lol
