Good fights, Crocop was dominant of course, being in the octagon didnt seem like it effected him. Jackson was def nervous to begin but finished solid. Silva is going to be wearing that belt for a long time, looked impressive even on the ground.

Yeah, I thought it was a great card. The Tyson Griffin VS Frank Edgar fight was sick! I'm officially on the Frank Edgar bandwagon.

They are in talks with HBO to carry fights, the first one was supposed to be 70, apparently the details were not going to worked out in time. Since there was no time to advertise on PPV, they decided to go with Spike. Works out good for us.

Where did you see that because on ufc.com they say it's a PPV event. Which is also interesting because the PPV starts at 2pm.

Hey thanks. I use sherdog and maxfighting.com. I knew about this site, but I rarely went to it. I will be checking it out. I guess because of the early start they would have to put it on TV. I hope they do that for all the overseas events.

that would be nice, I heard Dana say they wanted to do about 30 events this year ( which IMO is too many ) if they do I think they would have to do alot on free tv to be successful. There is no way they could have 30 cards that would justify 40 bucks a pop.

Did you read that Jim Lampley article about how boxers can beat MMA fighters? I know he has to defend the sport, because it's his job, but that was just a rediculous statement to make.

Jim Lampley is a tool, and in a bit of trouble. He should concentrate on commentating boxing instead of beating his woman. http://www.tmz.com/2007/01/03/sports...omestic-abuse/

    Re: Ultimate Fighting/MMA

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS FIGHTER TITO ORTIZ SAYS HE PULLED OUT OF A GRUDGE BOXING MATCH WITH UFC PRESIDENT DANA WHITE BECAUSE HE WAS BEING ASKED TO FIGHT WITHOUT A CONTRACT

LOS ANGELES (March 27, 2007) Top mixed martial arts fighter Tito Ortiz says he pulled out of a planned boxing bout against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White because he was being asked to enter the risky match without a contract and for no money. He said he is still willing to box White, but only if financial terms are ironed out in advance.

Ortiz, who has held the UFC lightheavyweight championship title, had been scheduled to fight former amateur boxing champion White on March 24th in a “grudge match” in Las Vegas. The match was a precondition that Ortiz had imposed before he signed a new contract with the UFC last year. Like Ortiz, White had been training for the fight and had received Nevada State Athletic commission approval for the match.

Ortiz explained in a post on his MySpace.com blog that he had already given up time and lost promotional fees to train for the fight against White, but decided against continuing after White and Spike TV declined to sign a contract agreeing to monetary and other terms, such as filming the fight for broadcast on payperview television.

After canceling several paid personal appearances in order to train for the fight and undergoing routine medical tests, he received a call from Craig (Piligian, Spike TV’s Senior Vice President of Sports and Specials), who said that “Dana (White) says that they are not going to shoot the fight (for PPV) or cover it in anyway. So this was a real lose, lose situation for me. I lost out on money for appearances. Now I was losing out on promotion and big dollars for the PPV. He didn't want to cut me in on the deal. So as a business man I couldn't do the fight.”

Ortiz also said the he has a “very big fight with (Rashad) Evans” coming up on July 7th. “Why would I risk my health and that fight for free?” he asked, referring to the White boxing match. “I wasn't going to make anything for it. I was not going to get taken advantage of as a fighter or a businessman. You tell me if I made the right decision. Hopefully this will get ironed out and will be done right the next time. Just trying to do business.”

That would be quite an upset. I think Rashad is gonna get destroyed by a guy that's a way better striker. Rashad's last fight against that Salmon (?) dude was pathetic, up till the point that kick came from nowhere and closed the deal.

Rashad Evans shouldn't even be in the UFC, he's a terrible fighter IMO. He should be in Cage Rage or KOTK.

Yeah, compared to top level fighters, his striking is weak, but it sure had improved, which I thought was pretty clear in the last fight against Liddell. Rashad would've been knocked out in 20 seconds if he had chosen to stand with Chuck.

And Forrest has decent striking in my opinion, and is getting better and better each fight. I still think he would win against Jardine if they had a rematch.

And how about this little overrhyped clown Hermes Franca? He's gonna fight Sean Sherk? My god, that fight is gonna be so boring, with Sherk laying on top of him for 5 rounds straight.

I read some rumour the Pride lightweight tournament in may will have the best fighters from Pride and UFC. If it's true and happening, that would be pretty damn sweet.

I can't believe that tall black dude is 6'4 and 155lbs, that's disgusting

I laughed my ass off at Gabe, why the hell would you come in and be 25 pounds over weight? Also. there must not have been many applicants this time cause Monstah only had 3 fights under him and he was pretty weak. I can't believe no one wanted to be on Jens' team. If I had the choice I'd love to work with Little Evil, rather than BJ. The team picking at the beginning was complete lolz, Dana didnt know what the hell was going on. No. fuck off, one at a time, damnit. Something tells me Nate Diaz won't make it all the way, I mean he is pretty badass (see youtube) but I don't think he'll go all the way. Also it's cool to see J-Lau on the show.

Being Canadian, I hope GSP retains tomorrow night
