Haven't bought a LT in years. This was an instant purchase.

Would’ve looked great alongside a BTCS vinyl announcement

Really hoping they bring back holiday the LT bonus disc this year.

A remastered rerelease of BTCS on vinyl with this LT = my poor wallet.

I honestly don't see what is so appealing about this. Short set list and no guests. I know its from a coveted year of '98. Honestly, I haven't heard a show without guests pre-'99 that I loved. My favorite years are 1999-2004. Maybe its because I didn't start listening until 2010 and I was 9 years old in '98. That being said, why is this so appealing for everyone? Would love to read a good take on this.

I'm of the opinion anything off the shelf from '98 is golden. I've never ran across a '98 show after release and thought "This shouldn't have been selected" initially. Even LT53 I loved after first listen.

Can you expand on that? Why are you so attracted to shows from that year. What is it about the sound.

Depends on the guest, no? We just have so many versions of every song. A song with a guest makes it unique, which is part of what we are all looking for.

It goes back to people's preferences, a handful of people just came forth this is the first LT they've bought in years in this thread. You really can't please everyone. And that bleeds into live shows of today, people complain all the time that how it was will never be like again. '98 shows gives those people a glimpse back into the years they loved with this band.

It doesn't at all. Kind of trying to find an excuse for why this release doesn't excite me. My favorite years are from before I was listening to the band, so age is definitely irrelevant. Disregard that comment lol

But a show without guests also makes it unique. Not only is this the only release from 1998 without guests, but since Live Trax 39, which was five years and 17 releases ago, we’ve only had one other show with just Dave, Carter, Roi, Stefan, and Boyd.

Those five just on their own is the sound many of us fell in love with, and it’s nice when we get a show like that every once in a while.

I get the nostalgia factor. That makes sense to me. But there is something more to that, right? Something musical.

BTW definitely not complaining, please don't take this the wrong way.

What are you looking for in LTs? D&T? Dave solo? D&F?

Dave solo is an automatic purchase, D&T gets me interested if it includes newer songs, all set on paying to listen to the full band play songs I've listened to for 20+ years and are on YouTube from the same timeframe. In general it's an issue of things being redundant, obviously LT 57 is a great show in itself.

i stopped buying live trax at lt50. i *may* pick this up if they do a holiday sale. definite interest in hearing a '98 show with just the core band, but there's also enough '98 shows in my collection already that i don't listen to, so... anyway, looks like a solid choice.

Martin was the real name of WhereYouGoin that we think was a troll. He used to post a lot in the I Know...I Know...Next Release thread in this subforum. It made it comical too that he admitted he didn't own a whole lot of released shows despite being a lot more obsessive about what's next than someone like me who owns all the LTs.

He also accidentally leaked his name here in a petition to get management to release '15 SPAC N1, which added to our amusement calling him by his first name. If he really wasn't a troll, we're assholes.

Besides Live Trax 34, we really don’t have another release of just the original 5 (yes I know Boyd technically isn’t an original member) performing BTCS songs.

-It's just the five of them
    -The first Heartbeat intro
    -Stir it Up tease
    -The Chet
-First release from the summer 98 tour

It's DMB in their prime and nearing the peak. This is essential DMB.

Just saw the e-mail and man that's a great setlist.

Stir it up has raised my curiosity. What else has the Wailers done because I know that name?

It’s not just nostalgia. People seem to get caught up with guests and rarities and forget how incredible the original five members were together. At one point it was those five guys paving the way for the career the current band has now. They played with heart and soul, and had a sound like absolutely no other. THAT is what drew people into their music. What made DMB what they are today was an incredible drummer, a soulful sax player and showman violin player as leads, a young bass prodigy and a guy with a whacky voice and an acoustic guitar in jam pants.

Never has a 98 show with only the five original members been released. I’d say that’s unique. There’s also not a single bad song on that setlist. Whether you’ve heard them for years or not, we don’t have that many “original five” shows in the grand scheme. Only thing I don’t like about this release is they missed my first show by 4 days!
