Will just echo what others have said: the lawn is not great. Its packed with poor sight lines. If you are going for your first time, you need to be inside. I, like others, prefer the balcony but the lowers are obviously good too.

If you are willing to drive a little you can get a lot cheaper but then you miss a lot of the fun around town without it being a hassle imo

For Camden, def stay in Philly and drive or take the boat across the river.
There are actually a couple hotels right next to the boat launch
We don't mind driving a bit. Thanks for the tips. We are def staying in Philly for Camden if it happens.

Clifton Park has several hotels and is about 25 minutes south of SPAC. Malta is like 10 minutes south and has a couple of hotel options as well.

Anywhere in Sec 15 is the best seat in the house, IMO. Balcony is always our preference

One of, if not the, smallest pits on tour. Cramped like other pits, and if you're not on the rail/stage, it isn't worth it IMO to be uncomfortably squished and without ability to come and go freely. Seats >>> pit for me all day.
I’m just prefer pits because it’s guaranteed I’ll be pretty close up no matter where I am in the pit. With seats you have to get the first 5 to 10 rows to get close, and the Warehouse always has me like 20 to 30 rows back most of the time. Oak mountain doesn’t have a pit at all, and the last two times I went the seats weren’t great. That’s why I choose pit at every venue, and I always get them. The pit at Southaven is pretty small and crowded. I’m tall (6 foot 3) so seeing over people isn’t a issue either. I’m likely taking a solo trip, and can be in the very back of the pit and be fine. When I go to the beer line or bathrooms I can just find any old spot and be fine with it. I won’t have to scramble through the crowd to get back to a friend or something like that, because I’m solo. So yeah If I’m lucky enough to get pit at SPAC I would be thrilled. I really don’t mind being packed in like a sardine.

I’m not sure you understand how hard it is to get SPAC tickets.

If I got insanely lucky and scored a SPAC pit how easy would it be to trade for a good pav? I have no desire to be in the pit anymore but ill put in for them just for the extra draw.

I realize it’s dmb mecca, but it’s not going to be impossible to score a ticket for at least one night. May have to wheel and deal for the other night.

Of course it’s not impossible, it’s just very tough and takes effort if you don’t get lucky with the WH or initial LN drop. It’s a small shed, only 2700 pairs.

Basically if 2021 happens is going to be either SPAC for dmb or widespread panic at Redrocks. It’s going to be a hard choice. I have been to Redrocks(although not for a show) and the venue is absolutely incredible. I also go friends who live in Denver so that makes things a lot easier. I maybe living in Colorado myself by that time as well. I’ve never been to SPAC but I think Redrocks is probably a cooler venue. No offense to hardcore fans of SPAC fans, but Redrocks is purely awesome. Holy shit I miss concerts so much. Hard decision, but I would be more then trill to be making that decision and things aren’t cancelled.

i live in denver. I have been to SPAC several times for DMB, and a bunch of shows at red rocks. i would suggest go see DMB at SPAC.

red rocks is amazing to see a show at, but you have friends out here and are considering moving out here yourself. do SPAC while you can, because its going to be a lot easier to put together a trip to denver for a show at red rocks than it will be to head back east to see DMB at SPAC.

if i go back east for DMB, its for camden because of how much easier it is to manage. between RR and SPAC, SPAC is more expensive and more of a logistical mess if coming from far away. its super easy to get into denver and make your way to RR for a show. so do SPAC now while you can, because if you do end up out here on your own, you'll be going to red rocks all the time. even if you dont, there are so many shows at red rocks, you'll find something to come out for at some point. but being far away from SPAC, you might never make it up there. so do that now and check that off the bucket list.

Thanks for the info spoot. So I’m guessing I would have to fly into Albany? What’s the best way to get from Albany to Saratoga? Albany is about 40 min away.

Yeah this is more of what I’m talking about. I know I can get an Uber but it will probably cost more than a shuttle. It’s about 36 miles in a Uber.

The only shuttles I’m aware of are to and from campgrounds for the show.

Are we talking about transportation from the airport to lodging in the Saratoga area, or staying in Albany and finding transportation to / from shows?

I think the mecca thing comes from how Dave traditionally treats the venue in terms of sets. There is a reason its always among the toughest ticket on tour.

The Gorge is obviously the mecca of DMB. I dont think its really close.

I think that is pretty subjective. Deer Creek is my favorite place to see the band outside of the Gorge. Imo DC blows away all the other traditional 2 night stops except maybe SPAC. I haven't been so I can't judge those.

It’s always tough to debate preference, you’d have a hard time convincing me DC was better than SPAC in 2018.

Trying to compare it to something you might be familiar with. I guess Saratoga is kind of sort of like a mini Charleston or Savannah if they were one main road, I have no idea how that kind of thing compares to where DC is.

DC is in the Indy burbs. Its a bit out of the way so if you are a camper you can be totally surrounded by every aspect of concert camping with the added bonus of being 5 minutes from any supplies you might need and being right next to the venue. If you want the city experience you can do that too and still easily get to the venue. Its the best of both worlds. I've done both. I camped and never left the grounds in 2015 and in 2018 brought my fiance and we did the city experience. Both were phenomenal.

A mini Savannah with DMB shows and festivities sounds pretty cool
