Dave Matthews and Pharrell Williams on Charlie Rose last night 9/22/17

Dave and Pharrell were on Charlie Rose last night. Obviously they talked about the upcoming concert. Dave even said something to the effect of wanting the concert to be an annual event. He didn't offer any insight into how/where this annual event would take place. Probably just Dave rambling.

"I would love this to be something to come together every year and celebrate what it is to be human today and what it means for the future."

Dave also talked briefly about the break and said that he missed his band and that there would always be music.

"I was writing and spending time with my kids.... I think there's always music. I was writing. I feel like it made me love my band more. It made me miss them. It made me want to do more things in music."

Dave's line about "now everyone thinks Charlottesville is where the Nazis are" is heartbreaking. For anyone who's been in that town, whether visiting or living, they know it's a fantastic place to spend your time. That might have been the worst long-term effect of the violence and hatred that broke out.

I would like to think it was pretty clear as the event shook out that the Nazis and alt-right people were not from Cville while most of those protesting them were. I hope so anyway.

Watch Charlie's interview with Dave from 1999. If you're on charlierose.com, type Dave Matthews in the search bar and you'll see an archive of every time Dave's been on. His interview with Charlie in 1999 is fantastic; Charlie was super engaged and seemed fascinated by Dave. I just think he's older now, and he's lost a lot of pep. There's a remarkable difference between his interviews from today and 20 years ago.

proud to be a Dave Matthews, and DMB, fan. You don't have to agree with all, or most, or any actually, of what he says, but you have to admire his passion and how he expresses himself.

Also good to hear that he has been writing quite a bit and still seems to be inspired to continue to make music. Can't wait for 2018.

I always enjoy hearing Dave speak. Very genuine and artistic. He's a great storyteller. However, he seemed uninformed about a few things. Yes, their are more white people in poverty because this nation is 16% Hispanic, 15% AA and he seems shocked that so many more white people are in poverty. Secondly, he wants politicians to listen to them (musicians), don't we all want our politicians to listen to us?! I think those number are accurate, but just interesting how the conversation went. I really hope tomorrow brings awareness and peace ✌️
