Perhaps touring in support of a new album next year will require more keys. Who knows.

Losing my mind at the idea of butch returning next summer. The change up this band has needed since 2013

This is good news... the band with Butch is way better than the band with Tim.

Two Step has been ruined for years with the goofy part where they all play off key and out of tune and out of rhythm

Listening to Warehouse from the new LT 43 with Butch, makes me pretty excited for this news. Seems likely that this is just a one off though. We shall see.

If Butch rejoined the band I'd be more inclined to a) travel to see the band and b) see them more than once a year.

I thought it would be a one-off but the more I think about it, I'm not sure. He's been rehearsing all week with them and he's guesting on the full set tonight. I would think he would only guest on a few songs if it was just a one-off.

You're right though, just gonna have to wait and see...but to make things even more intriguing, Butch did say he would be happy to sit in with them next year on Twitter not too long ago.

I hope he tours with them next year. This band really needs a lineup change to keep things fresh/interesting.

Saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy last night and was thinking of DMB and Butch coming back, the show was free and fine but there were so many instruments on stage and everything is played fast and as loud as possible. It would be great if Butch came back and they all saw it as an opportunity to layer things differently, have quieter moments, play off of each other in new ways. Obviously not Butch or DMB but something like the following, as a person in the audience I love peaks and valleys in music and dynamics:

As far as touring, this band needs another person on stage like they need the clap.

I can understand how you could find his solos boring and unnecessary. But I don’t think one can argue that the band sounds better without him. Listen to Live Trax 43 and try to believe your argument here

Shit that’s awesome. Some songs are really missing him. As much as I love Tim on acoustic I almost universally despise him on electric.

I agree with you, buuut LT 43 also has Roi and no Rashawn, so it's not really a fair way to look at it...

Oh ya totally agree. But Butch is really prominent in the mix and I found myself really paying attention to his fills on my first couple listens. Really added to my appreciation for what he did for their sound.

Butch beefed up a few Everyday songs in a way that helped, but, for the most part, I'm just not a fan of a lot of keyboard in DMB in general, whether it was Butch or Peter.

I'd also much rather have Tim, who is an extraordinary player on his instrument, over Butch, who is not a virtuoso on his instrument.

Otherwise I fear that it's just may add to the wall of noise .

No one is going to hear butch if rashawn is squealing on top and Tim is doubling everything Dave plays .

They've got to get the balance of instruments right . With DMB it's always been all about the layers ... Music , lyrics .

Hopefully they find a nice groove in rehearsals.

Maybe BT can even get in on the action.

Sorry if I'm so negative , I'm a rockets fan and we didn't get melo lol .

Maybe it's because it's been so long, but am I the only one that thinks that doesn't look a lot like Butch. It would make sense it's him, but he looks so much skinnier than I remember Butch being. Probably him I guess, just doesn't look like him.

Either way I'm psyched for tonight. Going to be a fun show to watch. It will be really cool to see Butch back on stage.

Yes, yes and yes. I really, really hope he sticks around till at least next summer and they come over to Europe again. I would LOVE to see a show with him. Gives more chance they'll slow down / jazz things up. Can see the 'wall of sound' argument but there's already a wall of sound, so it can only be a good move in my book.

So would you rather have Marco Minneman on the drums as well? Or Itzhak Perlman on the violin?

I don't think the streaming options have exclusions. Does Youtube have a country block?

I posted the various links I found this morning in the setlist thread: https://www.antsmarching.org/forum/s...postcount=2226

YOU ARE A HERO!!! YAYYYY! I'm crap with technology, tried making a tumblr account and all that but they all said "You can't watch in your region" (I even tried through TOR haha, I have no idea how it works but thought it was worth a go), I hadn't seen your earlier post with the FB or YouTube links. THANK YOU!
