NIU making a BCS game would probably be the new low for College Football. At least we wouldn't still have to pretend that any bowl game is anything more than a vacation at this point.

NIU is a pretty good team. lone loss was week 1 vs Iowa - giving up 9 pts in the 4th quarter. They've won 10 in a row, and really 7 of those were no-doubters... they laid an egg vs Army but still won.

I watched one NIU game this season, Toledo, because I was hypothetically hoping for Toledo to cover. NIU was fun enough to watch on a Wednesday, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy them against a team like KState or Oklahoma.

You can't make that case. Fulmer had a lot of success here, Kiffin left after one year and Dooley was the worst hire in the history of football. We have a new AD, who's going to be making his first huge hire. Tennessee has had down years before but the fact remains, Tennessee is one good coach away from being right back in SEC contention. Always thought ND would be relevant. Far too much big time Catholic High School football played in the Midwest and Northeast for them not to be loaded with talent.

Tennessee is a historical power. 3rd all time in bowl appearances. 6 national championships. We've had a 5 year skid. I don't see how this means we're never ever coming back. The 70's and the 80's had shit runs in them as well. Then the 90's happened. I'm not worried about not coming back.

That's true. They should have beaten UGA, but they have won everything else. No one is perfect this year. Yeah ND has a perfect record but other than that it's not like they are head and shoulders above the rest.
