Did you enjoy the 2018 Summer Tour? Will you go to the 2018 Fall Tour?

Only one show this summer, it was hit and miss but overall I enjoyed it. I dont like the CT songs that are currently getting all the plays (except Sam Cop, I like that one) and some songs I enjoy didnt sound very good. I normally like Bayou but thought it sounded terrible this summer. Other things have sounded much much better, Ants took some getting used to but I think its evolved well with this lineup, Jimi sounded great, Typical and WH were incredible. I would have like to have heard Raven live as the tapes of that one are fantastic. They dont play the west coast on fall tours, so I'm out until next summer. I have high hopes for 2019, they seemed to be getting more comfortable and open with the current line up by the end of the tour, some of the jams and solos were opening up and really getting a chance to breath. I'd like that to continue.

I'd buy tickets for a fall tour if they came to Colorado. I am not traveling to see them though.

I've gone from 4 shows a year to 1. Next year will likely be zero. Am I okay or does Hilly need to be condescending to my fandom to get the stamp of approval?

You literally the only person I've seen with this sentiment. I strongly disagree. Bayou - though wildly overplayed - was a beast this summer.

I thought bayou sounded pretty flat and boring all summer... until the outro, which isnt really the song the way they played it. That part sounded great, the structure part of the song itself was not very good.

Enjoyed the two shows I saw (SPAC) and if the rumored Albany date happens, I'll probably hit that show up. Like this summer, though, have no desire to travel for any shows.

Since it seems like it needs explained to you, noone thinks they are actively choosing to be bad. We just know dave has terrible taste in his own music and only plays what he wants.<br>

Yeah, not sure what i was but I was bored with it at the show I went to, bored with it on tapes, it is one of few songs that didn't do well with the slowing down of pace this year. The Deer Creek webcast version is a perfect example of a boring lackluster Bayou. And I'm normally a big fan of the song.

I can't answer because mine depends on the fall setlists. I would not attend a fall tour if the setlists are similar to the summer 2018 tour. I saw 5 shows in 2018.. that's enough of the same songs over and over.

They need to cut a verse or two from that song. Pretty dull until the outro. Also, I really miss the clav on it, wish Buddy would bring that back.

Or just cut it altogether, no real loss.

Yeah, I'm not going to do a 8-10 hour drive like usual to see DMB. I had fun this summer, but I don't feel the need to make a big drive.

Band is just not the same without Boyd/violin. They put on an entertaining show but it's not what DMB with BT was. And I suppose that's fine. Still excited to see them perform but bittersweet to think that my most enjoyable times watching the band may be in the past. Hopefully they add another member or two sooner rather than later. Add back a violinist and I'm all in.

As bad as I think this tour was, I'd still go to a fall tour show if it were in the Austin city limits. No way am I getting on a plane for one though.

It’s a hilly poll. What are you expecting? I voted I’ll attend a show but that’s assuming there is a violin and a show 20 minutes from my house. I won’t drive an hour regardless. A violin won’t magically make them play less than 7-10 duds a show I’m guessing.

I'd be very surprised if they added a violin for the Fall/Winter tour. I think they really like the sound the way it is now, and of course you have the fact that the shows were very well-attended once again this summer.

Agreed, but it saves me from wanting to buy tickets, so they have that going for them.

Overall pretty happy with the way the band sounds now but adding a competent violin player would also be good. This band has constantly changed since their beginning and I like the overall sound now more than I have in years, doesn't mean it is where they were at their all time best, but better than I thought it would be if you asked me in 2016. My main critique for the current sound would be continue playing more piano and less organ.
