Mercy vs Come Tomorrow

When the new album came out, I was thinking Come Tomorrow would be the new Mercy for Dave's political endeavors, giving him something else to play.

Which of the two songs do you like better?

I may be the only vote for it, but I love Come Tomorrow. It's a catchy song, I like the message, and I prefer it over Mercy. But I like both songs.

Mercy at least can develop into a nuanced jam that's good. Come Tomorrow is utter horseshit. By far my least favorite song the band's ever played.

I love the studio version of Come Tomorrow. (I didn't feel that way on 1st listen, but it grew on me after a few days.) I also really like Mercy, but prefer that Dave solo.

Actually really enjoy the D&T versions of Mercy (a la NOLA 14) with the piano outro. Would probably rather see CT full band though.

I can definitely see a parallel between the two songs - they both have a positive, hopeful vision within a peaceful musical framework. While I think Mercy is much more musically developed than CT, I’m honestly not sure what people have against CT. I totally agree that the song is by no means a DMB classic (old or new), but I’m also confused as to why many people seem to hate it.

Jimi is top tier dmb, it's just become grossly overplayed and bloated. The song itself is great though.

Yup, but the song itself has to be considered great, right? Even in it's current form it's not close to being the worst in the catalog.

Best part of Summer 18’ is there was no mercy or if only. The 15 min versions of mercy in 2012 and 2013 were a waste of setlist. I’ll take a few come tomorrow’s on the chin compaired to the 800th mercy soince 2012.

Jimis at dave and Tim were very enjoyable. If the jam flat out left it’d be way more tolerable. Not to mention it’d open a slot up for another song possibly

No arguements here. Give me an 8 minute Jimi with no stupid outro and 1 or 2 more songs depending on length of those every night.
