My pest guy sets them and they've been fine for the most part. Mostly snaps and a few stickies. Have caught several on each type. At one point, I realized the mice were hanging out on top of my water heater to drink water from a very slow drip I have. I set one of the snap traps up there and the next day I had one.
The guy told me maybe they've wised up the traps, but also the bait may just need to be replaced since it's old now.
One night I went into the unfinished space where all the traps are (it's just my workshop) and I heard a little commotion from the corner. A mouse had gotten onto the sticky trap just recently and was still struggling. I was like fuck, I gotta deal with this now. Grabbed a 3' long piece of 2x4 and crept over to him slowly. He was looking at me. Said "sorry bud" and quickly dispatched him.
