If people who have only seen the movies are answering this poll, then you are doing it wrong.

and it seems for quite awhile now it's been a hip and trendy thing to rag on how bad and/or lame Potter is. I'm thinking maybe because it's at the end, it's obviously felt now like it's been around for a long damn time.

Technically they actually changed Lavender Brown's race along the way. Well, I don't recall if in the books earlier than HBP (where she becomes a more pivotal character) they refer to her as being black, but for the films, a couple years ago Entertainment Weekly had an issue that they called like Harry's "Yearbook" and it had headshots of a bunch of the more background characters, and in it there was one for Lavender Brown and the girl featured was black. For some reason it always stuck in my head, then of course with HBP and Ron dating her, she'd been made white.

Is Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone more geared toward younger children? Yes, of course, especially given its main characters are 11. Its more simple nature in the beginning didn't take anything away from the experience for me, at the end of the day all that matters is story and characters, both of which the franchise has in ridiculous abundance.


People that only looked at the films, but then even there only saw, say, like the 1st, 3rd and 7th and bitch about how bad they are... c'mon. I'm not saying you can't like them, but you're talking about a major extended franchise with a heavy element of continuity, and you're surprised you were disappointed when you caught maybe a third of it, missing huge gaps in between?


Lastly, if you don't like the books (much less the films) that's perfectly fine, you're allowed to obviously. Everything isn't for everybody. But please don't take that and use it as some ammunition to show how above it you are, or your lack of being engaged shows how properly adult or mature you are. Frankly you sound ridiculous.

I can respect what the books do, but I'd rather read the medieval fantasy/sci-fi books that influenced the series; those aimed for an older audience as well.
