Thanks, man. And yeah, I realize it's irrational. I think I'd feel worse about that if that album hadn't ended up at the top of so many lists, but Fiona is doing just fine.

Agreed about music getting us through the year. And I'm glad I've had people here to talk about it with. DMB's best days might be behind it, but they've left a legacy of people who started paying a lot more attention to a wider spectrum of music because of them. And they've brought them together here, and that's a pretty great thing.

IMO it was a sneaky good year for DMB

In comparison to other favorite groups they did a lot for the fans, raised a ton for charity, great virtual performances, got back to writing, fairly productive overall with all things considering

I'm just teasing you. Everyone likes something different! That's what makes this fun. Fiona's an all-time fave for me, but I appreciate that she's not for everyone.

It's been nice, as someone who has been a big fan of hers since Tidal, so almost 25 years, *gulp* to see the consensus move from "ugh she's so insufferable" to where she's at now.

The AOTD thread remains my favorite place on the internet to talk music. And I think part of that is because since DMB pulls together such a variety of influences that that's reflected in the tastes of their fans, too.

This I absolutely agree with. Between Dave's solo at-home performances, Live Trax 54, Sirius XM weekend shows, and the Drive-In series, I probably listened to (and loved) DMB more this year than I have since Busted Stuff came out.

Well-said. It's been a fun place to discover and contribute to this year. I still read the Prompter thread more often, but that tends to make my blood pressure rise a lot higher.

I didn't love the whole albums of the bolded, but "Isabella" and "Deep in Love" are two of my favorite songs of 2020. Truly great tracks. And "Can't Cool Me Down" was great, too.

I thought we had this conversation when he put out I Had A Dream That Your Were Mine in 2016.

I hope this was counted as Notes On A Conditional album, not their 2018 release lol.

The new Lapsley album has some really solid singles including Through Water, My love is like the rain, Ligne 3, and Speaking of the End. New Purity Ring album doesn't live up to their last album, Stardew is prob the best song.

The new Lapsley album has some really solid singles including Through Water, My love is like the rain, Ligne 3, and Speaking of the End. New Purity Ring album doesn't live up to their last album, Stardew is prob the best song.
yes, bad typo... it's been a long year?

"painter" by lapsley is one of my all time favorite songs

Forgot to submit my list this year, would have ruined some of Taylor's stats for sure

It was a shitty year in a lot of ways, but there was a lot of great music that helped us through it.
The Beths' Out Of Sight hit me exactly the way you described it here. Haven't had such a typical indie song like this on repeat for what seems like ages. The "out of heart when out of sight" lines also are very pertinent these times... EVEN THOUGH since they're from New Zealand they can still see other people and play concerts there My heart just fell when I searched for live videos of them playing this song so I could learn it and there was one from August / July with packed venues.

    Happy new year everyone

Found a couple songs I hadn't heard on your songs of the year list. Thanks.

Someone told me I kept misusing the word "comeuppance" incorrectly, so ill just say this record and her entire modern catalogue is quite extraordinary. Folklore and Evermore were written and produced in such a short time. There are so few artists pushing out music at this volume in recent memory, except for King Gizzard. But Swift has sorta crossed over into the indie-fawning territory that's recently been inhabited by Lana--especially after Norman Fucking Rockwell. Folklore and Evermore are great records. Also, big shoutouts to Aaron Dessner. Dude's had a great career.

Yeah, this song put The Beths on the top of my "to see as soon as touring starts back up" list. I've really liked their first two albums a lot, but that song in particular hits me in the exact right way.
